00:0082-year-old Michael Douglas is telling all in his new memoir full of wild Hollywood stories,
00:06sex, drugs, and plenty of name-dropping to go around.
00:10One of the juiciest bits involves a run-in with Julia Roberts.
00:14Douglas was producing her film Flatliners at the time.
00:18At a Golden Globes party, he drunkenly noticed Roberts was quote,
00:22kind of nuzzling his 13-year-old kid Cameron.
00:25So he yelled at her,
00:26Take your hands off my son, and take that Golden Globe, and stick it where the sun don't shine.
00:32Ouch.
00:33He sent flowers the next day and apologized to Roberts and her co-star slash fiancé at the time, Kiefer
00:39Sutherland.
00:40But supposedly, the Pretty Woman star held a grudge.
00:44Another shocking story went down at the 1989 Oscars,
00:47the year after he won for playing Gordon Gekko in Wall Street.
00:51When he arrived at the awards show, the FBI and LAPD warned him of a credible threat,
00:57that a mysterious man inside the ceremony wanted to stab him with an HIV-infected needle.
01:04Douglas presented onstage anyway, and a longtime friend of his corroborated the story,
01:09telling Page Six Hollywood,
01:11He was advised by the agent not to go out there onstage.
01:15They knew the person was in the venue, but they didn't know where.
01:18They could have been in the staff, the crew, or the crowd.
01:22Michael was scared shitless.
01:24It was a really ballsy move for him to go out there.
01:27There is nothing more difficult and subjective than assembling five extraordinarily gifted actors
01:36and choosing one of them to receive an Oscar.
01:39And the Oscar goes to Dustin Hoffman for Rayman.
01:44The son of Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas landed his first starring role at the age of 24 in 1969's Hail
01:51Hero.
01:51But it wasn't always easy for the Nepo baby.
01:54He claims that his movie star dad didn't pay for his college.
01:57He gave him a $10,000 trust fund and said,
02:01You're on your own.
02:02So Michael says he smuggled suitcases of marijuana from California to New York to pay for his tuition.
02:08While at UC Santa Barbara, he also spent time on a commune and taking a lot of acid, writing,
02:15I would say that over a three-year period, I took LSD more than a hundred times,
02:20but never more than once a week.
02:21And speaking of drugs, Douglas once did cocaine with OJ Simpson at an SNL afterparty.
02:27He writes that the NFL legend, quote,
02:30Whipped out a rolled dollar bill and offered us coke.
02:33Douglas later went to rehab in 1992.
02:36But the most surprising revelations went down between the sheets.
02:40Douglas writes about his many A-list flings, including one with his basic instant co-star,
02:45but it's not who you think.
02:47While it's undeniable that he and Sharon Stone steamed up the silver screen in the 1992 erotic thriller,
02:54sparking romance rumors at the time, it was a much younger actress in the film,
02:59Jean Triplehorn, who caught his eye.
03:01He writes,
03:02The truth is, I fell very hard for Jean despite our nearly 20-year age difference.
03:07In fact, I was ready to officially leave my wife for Jean.
03:10I was crazy about her.
03:12My relationship with Jean lasted through production, then we went our separate ways.
03:16But I will always think of her as an amazing actress and a truly terrific woman that I was very
03:22fortunate to spend time with.
03:23Ever the Hollywood ladies' man, his love life seems to be the main character in his autobiography.
03:29So let's break it all down.
03:30If both of you are willing, you know, to do it, it can't be, you know, a one-way, a
03:36one-way street.
03:37But I'm crazy about her.
03:39But we're back stronger, stronger than ever.
03:42I'm happy to hear that.
03:44That was Michael Douglas on The Ellen DeGeneres Show,
03:47opening up about his brief separation from his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, in 2013.
03:52Now, more than a decade later, he's opening up about it in his new memoir, One Hell of a Ride.
03:58He told the Sunday Times that he never gave up hope that they'd reconcile, saying,
04:02It was a mutual, you know, we had our problems.
04:05But I love her dearly and 25 years, you know?
04:09Surprisingly, he said Zeta-Jones hasn't read his book.
04:12It's too bad because here are the glowing words he wrote about her.
04:15I love Catherine in a way that I've never loved any other woman.
04:18She's my wife, my best friend, and my life partner.
04:22I could never lose her.
04:23Thank God we found our way back to each other.
04:25Our marriage deserved a second chance.
04:28On their 25th anniversary last year, she shared this Instagram carousel of their best moments over the years.
04:34That said, the sit-down with the Sunday Times wasn't all sweet.
04:38In one moment, he snapped at the reporter who claimed the book was full of sex with multiple partners.
04:43The point of contention, Douglas writes that he had to make five quick calls to end things with other women
04:49when Zeta-Jones wanted to get serious at the start of their relationship.
04:52She insisted they be monogamous.
04:55Douglas defended himself, saying he was a healthy product of the 60s.
04:58The book also shoots down a decades-old rumor that he went to rehab for sex addiction in the 1990s.
05:04Douglas writes that he was never a, quote,
05:06f***ing sex addict.
05:08He alleged,
05:09A British tabloid editor came up with this story, which, thank you very much,
05:12here we are talking about it at 82.
05:15It happens with the tabloids, and well, I won't blame your country alone,
05:19but you're probably better known for it than most.
05:21It wasn't true.
05:22Page Six reported on another long-standing Michael Douglas rumor last week.
05:27Take a look.
05:29Would you please do me the courtesy of looking at me when I'm speaking to you?
05:34I mean, this is exactly what I'm talking about.
05:37I mean, if you had any kind of manners, if you...
05:45Goddamn Bushmaster.
05:47Is it, uh, poisonous?
05:50Yeah.
05:51But very tasty.
05:53For over four decades, Michael Douglas wrestled with rumors that he and Kathleen Turner had a secret relationship,
06:00dating back to the 1984 film Romancing the Stone.
06:04Their on-screen chemistry was off the charts.
06:07Now, after more than 40 years of secrecy, Douglas is finally copping to the romance in his upcoming memoir,
06:14One Hell of a Ride, out October 6.
06:17At the time, he was married to Diandra Luker, and they were separated and, according to him, both having extramarital
06:23affairs.
06:24In the book, Douglas says he also had a fling with the movie's screenwriter, Diane Thomas,
06:28before meeting Kathleen Turner, who knocked him sideways, calling her smart, funny, and sexy.
06:35They were immediately attracted to each other, he writes,
06:38fell hard, but kept their connection hidden from co-star Danny DeVito, director Robert Zemeckis, and everyone else on set.
06:46He writes,
06:59Their rendezvous ended when his wife and son visited the set down in Mexico.
07:04A suspicious Luker told Turner to back off, which she did.
07:08Douglas and Luker got back together, but ultimately divorced in 1995.
07:12Five years later, he wed Catherine Zeta-Jones.
07:15As for Turner, she was married to Jay Weiss between 1984 and 2007,
07:20and over the years, she continued collaborating with her co-star.
07:24The Romancing the Stones sequel, The Jewel of the Nile in 1985,
07:28The War of the Roses in 1989,
07:31and most recently in the Netflix series, The Kaminsky Method.
07:34How you feeling?
07:36I know you mean well, but that is a stupid question.
07:41Douglas claimed he and Turner had agreed upon an official story.
07:44That they were both terrible flirts, and tempted, but nothing ever happened.
07:49In response, Kathleen Turner brushed it off, telling People magazine,
07:54Good heavens, what a fuss about something that happened 40 years ago.
07:57I love Michael, and I look forward to enjoying the book.
