00:06A special atmosphere to greet these two clubs, who both have a special relationship with this competition.
00:12It provided the high point of Stoke's history thanks to Tony Waddington and his class of 1972 for Liverpool.
00:20Although they've won it more times than any other, they're eyeing up their ninth success this season.
00:24The League Cup has given them their only trophy in the last nine years, both smarting from weekend league defeats.
00:35Yeah, Jurgen Klopp describing his team's performance at West Ham as passive, so you'd expect a...
00:41Firmino with an early tester, you'd expect a quick start from the away team.
00:51Firmino.
00:53Lallana.
00:55Drawing a good save from Butlan.
00:58Kline seeking Alan.
01:02Just behind Kline.
01:05With the forward momentum still with Liverpool and Firmino.
01:07Lallana.
01:09Now Jordan Ibe.
01:15Lallana scrung the offside trap.
01:17Short cross was a little deep.
01:19What can Liverpool do here?
01:20Alan didn't get it.
01:20Ibe might.
01:21Ibe does.
01:27Jordan Ibe opens the scoring in the Capital One Cup semi-final.
01:32And Liverpool lead of the Britannia.
01:47That's a wonderful ball in from Glenn Johnson and Arnautovic looks to the heavens knowing that that was a golden
01:54chance.
01:56Oh, Jan takes.
02:00Stamped in.
02:01Super save by Mignolet.
02:03Hoisted back in by Rolsheik.
02:12And Arnautovic, that's a devilish delivery, Torre down, decent defending, Shawcross couldn't turn in time.
02:18Might be a chance here for Johnson.
02:24And Arnautovic.
02:26Oh, what a ball that is, Shaqiri, so close to getting on the end of it.
02:33Milner, very low to try and ahead that one.
02:36Oh, shout for a penalty as Alan goes to ground, Firmino carries on.
02:41Milner, locked off the line.
02:43Milner, now Lallana.
02:58but then have to go on that right for Kamandov Firmino
03:06let's go find the penetration they found Hossolu that was looping very awkwardly for Mignolet
03:13he had to tip it over
03:18Walters couldn't find the target that was the chance for Stoke City yeah the whistle
03:26be going shortly after now but that was Peter Crouch maybe gets the slightest touch
03:31that's what he's on there for just trying to feed it into that far corner hasn't
03:34got a lot of goal to aim at has to strike it perfectly and he doesn't
03:43it is advantage Liverpool advantage Jurgen Klopp after a slender first leg win here at the Britannia
03:52the damage done in the first half Jordan Ives second goal in this season's cup run
03:57Liverpool who were hemorrhaging players losing two to hamstring injuries in the first half
04:02stuck to the task well and Stoke who didn't have their best of nights couldn't find a way through
04:08despite throwing on the big guns in the second half going direct John Walters late chance he couldn't find the
04:14target
04:15Jurgen Klopp looked for a response after that defeat in the Premier League at West Ham last time out
04:20and Alan here at the Britannia tonight he got one
04:23well he did they were impressive tonight Liverpool they worked as a team they looked a proper unit
