00:00Alex Ovechkin announced this morning to his teammates, this is it, his final ride in the NHL.
00:07The 41-year-old future Hall of Famer made the announcement to his teammates this morning.
00:11There is some audio of it. It's not great. You'll have to enhance it.
00:14I sent you the link from the tsn.ca website there, Clary.
00:20But, yeah, I don't know how people are going to take this news.
00:23I always assumed this was it.
00:26But, yeah, I don't know why this morning it felt right to do it, but that's fine by me.
00:32We're going to enjoy the last ride.
00:34Sometimes I think you as a player want to make sure you, just like Tress said, it was going to
00:40be his last year, get that out the way.
00:43You don't want people asking that question every day.
00:45You know what I mean?
00:46This is my last year, so now I don't have to get you asking me that for 80-some games.
00:51Now, how many special nights will he tolerate the Capitol standing up for him on what is now going to
00:59be a farewell tour of the league?
01:03Every other city he goes to for the last time is no doubt going to do something special for him.
01:09I know he's a guy that doesn't particularly like that kind of attention, but he's just going to have to
01:14suck it up because, believe you me,
01:17these other hockey-loving cities are going to give him his due.
01:21Before it's all said and done.
