असम के गुवाहाटी में सीजेपी की प्रस्तावित वॉलंटियर्स मीटिंग से पहले पार्टी के को-कन्वीनर आशुतोष रांका समेत कई नेताओं और कार्यकर्ताओं को पुलिस ने हिरासत में लिया। सीजेपी ने पुलिस कार्रवाई पर सवाल उठाते हुए आरोप लगाया कि पार्टी के नेताओं को बैठक शुरू होने से पहले ही हिरासत में लिया गया। आशुतोष रांका ने मुख्यमंत्री हिमंता बिस्वा सरमा पर सरकारी स्कूलों की स्थिति और असम के स्थानीय मुद्दों को सामने आने से रोकने के आरोप लगाए हैं। काजीरंगा और लोगों के अधिकारों को लेकर भी उन्होंने सवाल उठाए। पूरे मामले में पुलिस की कार्रवाई का आधिकारिक कारण सामने आने का इंतजार है।
