00:00I have the honor to read the following joint statement on behalf of 80 countries, as listed
00:08in the annex to this statement.
00:13We remain steadfast in our support for Resolution 2817, condemning Iran's continued attacks
00:21against its regional neighbors and its disruption of international trade, energy security, and
00:31the global economy.
00:33And we call for its full implementation.
00:37Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to threaten international security and navigational
00:44rights and freedoms.
00:46We will also strongly condemn the Houthis' decision to resume conflict in Yemen, their
00:53continuous strikes on Saudi Arabia, and their reckless attacks in the Red Sea.
01:00The Houthis' advance towards the Bab al-Mandeb will only heighten risks to international shipping,
01:07maritime security, the global trade through this critical waterway.
01:16We reiterate our call for the urgent and full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the safe,
01:25secure, and unimpeded transit of vessels without the imposition of tolls, conditions, or illegal
01:34charges in line with international law as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law
01:41of the Sea, and to avoid further disrupting global trade.
01:48As the Secretary General said last month, chocking the arteries of global trade and squeezing
01:56the global food system will result in higher prices, deepening hunger, weaker harvests, and
02:05greater suffering, especially for the world's most vulnerable.
02:12In this context, we express our gratitude to those who work tirelessly to restore the flow
02:19of global trade despite the risks to their safety.
02:24Commercial shipping and seafarers must never be used as leverage.
02:31And we condemn Iran's actions that put innocent lives at risk.
02:39We reaffirm our support for the vital role of the International Maritime Organization and
02:47partners in the region in reestablishing safe, secure, and unimpeded transit regimes in the
02:58Strait of Hormuz.
02:59And to working with the shipping industry to ensure they can resume operations as soon as
03:06conditions permit.
03:08We call for the full restoration of navigational rights and principles without delay.
03:20In concluding, I thank all the foreign ministers with us today, as well as the high representative
03:34of the European Union, the Secretaries General of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League,
03:41and all the representatives of countries and other organizations that have joined this statement
03:50and stand with us today.
