00:00Opposition MP Stuart Young says it is premature to comment on the reintroduction of the Zoso bill,
00:06as they haven't seen the new bill yet, but he re-emphasized the opposition's concerns.
00:15So we are very, very concerned about this government's continued abuse of all of our constitutional rights.
00:23And I'm not in support of any Zoso, any power given to this government
00:27that is going to trample on the rights of citizens, you're looking for trouble.
00:33Young, a former minister of national security, also drew reference to the chaos surrounding PDOs
00:38and the current state of emergency as potential hiccups for the use of zones of special operations.
00:45So it has law-abiding citizens very concerned.
00:49I mean, we look at the statistics of PDOs that were put out in the last few days.
00:53You had over 800 PDOs applied for 700, over 700 PDOs that were approved.
01:02And then when you look at it, 500, over 500 executed.
01:07So that's 500 of our citizens detained, incarcerated, locked up, no bail, no ABS corpus,
01:12and only 200 charged.
01:15So immediately, and then what were they charged for?
01:18You're seeing all sorts of maintenance and stuff.
01:20That's what you use a state of emergency to do, to lock up people,
01:23detain people for maintenance, charge them for maintenance, go on.
01:27That story brings us to tonight's People Meter question.
01:30We ask, do you expect the government to get the support of the opposition
01:35and independent MPs for the new special operations bill?
01:39To vote, text, yes, or note is the number 766-4886 or 766-4TV6.
