00:00Never a dull moment on the Emmys carpet?
00:01No, I'm wiping the sweat off my head.
00:03Can you get a fan for Tom Palfrey, please?
00:05Can we get a fan?
00:07So, Task is incredible.
00:09Here you go.
00:10Can you talk a little bit about creating the character?
00:12You are so vivid and so memorable in that show,
00:15and it was such a transformation.
00:18Yeah, I mean, it's really just about finding where his heart is,
00:21you know, like finding what he loves,
00:22and you don't want to pay too much attention to what he's doing
00:25that people might judge for me just thinking about why he's doing it.
00:29You know, and if you find that, then you find the way in,
00:32you know, hopefully it translates, and I think it did, you know.
00:35Brad Inglesby is a gorgeous, gorgeous writer,
00:39and he always gives his characters a reason why.
00:42Did you research the character by talking to specific people,
00:45or did you do any self-research for the role?
00:50No, it's just kind of you go off into your own imagination.
00:55How did you find his dialect and his voice?
00:57He always has many hours of work, you know.
01:00That's a really tricky dialect.
01:02So we had a great speech coach and a lot of deep, deep, deep dives on YouTube
01:08because I was really trying to find somebody speaking that accent
01:11that wasn't conscious of being observed,
01:14and eventually found a dude on, like, a local news station who was my hero.
01:18He helped me, like, he, like, unlocked the missing piece for me.
01:23Now, this is your second nomination coming after Ozark.
01:27There is a ton of momentum behind you tonight.
01:30Do you have a speech prepared?
01:32And people think you're the frontrunner, so no pressure.
01:35I have a vague idea of what I'd want to say.
01:39But, yeah, no, not a hard and fast speech prepared.
01:44Hallie's probably the first person that you'll be thanking.
01:47I don't know.
01:48Oh, man.
01:49Now I'll get up there and just, if I win, just stare at the floor.
01:56I think that maybe you should refresh your notes because, as Ramin said,
02:00you are the frontrunner.
02:01So we're here.
02:02Tom, before we let you go, we have our bowl of questions here.
02:04We'd like you to grab a question and answer it on air.
02:06Read it and then answer it on air, please.
02:07Okay, our question is, what's one thing you carry around every day and can't do without?
02:15And the answer to this is my Yeti mug that I keep my coffee in.
02:21Not cold liquids, my coffee in.
02:23My Yeti mug keeps my coffee hot.
02:25I always have it on set.
02:27I had it in the car on the way here.
02:29I never leave home without it.
02:31I will say, they really keep your coffee hot.
02:33I keep mine with me everywhere as well.
02:36They really keep your coffee hot.
02:38Now this seems like an advertisement.
02:39It's not.
02:40Maybe for you, but not for me.
02:42I'm a journalist.
02:43This is not an advertisement.
02:44We just asked a question.
02:45There you go.
02:45I think you're going to be getting a lot of mugs.
02:47Pick another one because they're going to think that, you know, we're doing an advertisement.
02:52We're not.
02:52Do you believe in aliens?
02:55Oy yi yi.
02:56I believe that there are beings that we don't understand.
03:00I don't know what an alien even means anymore, honestly, but sure, yes.
03:08Thank you, Tom.
03:09Good luck tonight.
03:10Thank you so much.
03:11Good luck.
03:12Now we have Pullman Domingo.
03:14Is that my pal?
03:15Yes.
03:16You have to worry, pal.
03:18Good to see you.
03:19Good to see you, man.
03:21You look great.
03:22Brother, you always look the best.
03:24Yes, he does.
03:24This guy always looks the best.
03:25You always look the best.
03:26He's our Cary Grant.
03:27Today's Cary Grant.
03:28I love you.
03:29This guy.
03:29I love you.
03:30Love you, too, man.
03:30Good to see you, man.
03:31Good to see you, too, brother.
03:32Yeah.
