00:09Morning sunlight fills my window As a flock sweeps through the blue
00:13By the path the old tree whispers Empty nests are all in view
00:17One by one they fade from sight Where are all those birds in flight?
00:26Where do the birds go? Where do they fly? When autumn winds fill up the sky
00:31Over the mountains, over the sea Chasing the sunshine warm and free
00:35And when spring wakes every tree They'll spread their wings and fly home to me
00:44Over mountains, over oceans Toward the warmth of southern skies
00:49To a place with gentle weather Where they'll find the food they need
00:53Though the journey may be tiring They fly on with strength and speed
01:02Where do the birds go? Where do they fly? When autumn winds fill up the sky
01:06Over the mountains, over the sea Chasing the sunshine warm and free
01:11And when spring wakes every tree They'll spread their wings and fly home to me
01:20By the day the sun will guide them Bright and golden in the sky
01:24When the quiet night surrounds them Stars will show them where to fly
01:29And a compass deep inside them Leads them onward mile by mile
01:37In the warm and sunny wetlands All the flock can rest at last
01:42By the water through the meadows Gentle winter days slip past
01:46Then a longing stirs inside them
01:50Home is calling, spring is near
01:55Where do the birds go? Where do they fly? When autumn winds fill up the sky
02:00Over the mountains, over the sea Chasing the sunshine warm and free
02:04And when spring wakes every tree They'll spread their wings and fly home to me
02:11Then one morning spring comes softly Green returns to field and tree
02:15From the distance wings are shining Home across the silver sea
02:20By the path the nest once empty Holds two birds where they should be
02:28Where do the birds go? Now I know Why they leave when cold winds blow
02:33Over the mountains, over the sea Chasing the sunshine warm and free
02:37And when spring wakes every tree They'll spread their wings and fly home to me
02:42Safe travels, little wanders Chase the warmth beyond the sea
02:46When the trees are dressed in blossoms Fly back home
02:54Fly back to me
02:56Where do the birds go? Now I know why I know why I know why I know why I know
02:58why I know why I know why I know why I know why I know why I know why I
02:58know why I know why I know why I know why I know why I know why I know why
