00:00Everyone said Adam loved me more than his own life.
00:02He remembered every date, every little thing I liked.
00:05He even bought an entire street because I once said I liked it.
00:09And when a man harassed me, Adam took the fall for protecting me.
00:15Today, he's finally coming home.
00:25Adam?
00:35His first instinct wasn't in to explain.
00:38It was to protect them from me.
00:40Why are you here?
00:41Who is she?
00:42And who is this child?
00:44Claire, I didn't go to prison.
00:47Her name is Ariana.
00:49Three years ago, a rival drugged me at a dinner.
00:51I slept with her once.
00:52Then she came back pregnant.
00:54The doctor said if she ended it, she might never conceive again.
00:59So you lied about prison and lived with them for three years?
01:03Yes.
01:04I thought the baby would stop my mother from blaming you for not getting pregnant.
01:08Tomorrow, they're moving into our home.
01:11When the boy is older, Ariana will leave.
01:13Aren't you afraid I'll divorce you?
01:16Claire, don't say that.
01:19We've loved each other for over a decade.
01:21I can't live without you, and you can't live without me.
01:24Ariana gave us the child we needed.
01:25You're still the only woman I love.
01:27Mrs. Young, I'm sorry.
01:28When the boy no longer needs me, I'll leave.
01:30She promised to leave.
01:32They had already been a family for three years.
01:36Dad, I'm hungry.
01:38Hungry?
01:39Dad will take you to eat.
01:40What do you want?
01:41Grilled shrimp.
01:42Alright, Claire.
01:44Come with us.
01:45We can talk over lunch.
01:47I had never seen that look on his face before.
01:50Not for me.
01:50In the rear view mirror, they looked exactly like what they were.
01:54A family.
01:56Cream of mushroom soup for Claire.
01:58Butter steamed fish with every bone removed for Ariana.
02:01And grilled shrimp for Gavin.
02:02He remembered all three of us.
02:04That was what hurt the most.
02:06He cared for them so naturally, as if he had done it a thousand times.
02:17I'm full.
02:17I'm going home.
02:19I'll take you.
02:19No need.
02:22I thought the worst thing that could happen that day was losing my marriage.
02:32Then the headlights found me.
02:37Claire!
02:46He hesitated for only a second.
02:48But I watched him choose her.
02:51Where is her family?
02:51We need someone to sign the surgical consent form.
02:54Is Ariana White's family here?
02:56Adam, sign mine first, please.
02:58Claire, wait.
02:59Ariana's condition is serious.
03:00She needs me more than you do right now.
03:02I had no one else.
03:04He knew that and still walked away.
03:09Do you have anyone else who can sign?
03:14I'll sign it myself.
03:24Mrs. Young, you're awake.
03:26How do you feel?
03:27Where is he?
03:28Mr. Young is still with Miss White.
03:29She was badly frightened and her emotions are unstable.
03:32He asked me to stay with you.
03:34Elijah?
03:35Where's my phone?
03:37Your old phone was destroyed in the crash.
03:39Mr. Young had me buy you a new one.
03:40I already replaced the SIM card.
03:41I want to rest.
03:42Please wait outside.
03:43Of course.
03:44Press the call button if you need anything.
03:47Adam used to be the first person I called when anything hurt.
03:53Attorney Mason's office.
03:54Miss Mason, I want a divorce from Adam.
03:56Please prepare the papers as soon as possible.
03:58All right, Mrs. Young.
03:59I'll draft it immediately.
04:00But what about Mr. Young?
04:02Just get it ready.
04:03Whether he signs or not, I'm getting a divorce.
04:06Separation, litigation, whatever it takes.
04:08I only want the result.
04:17Adam never came.
04:18He sent things instead.
04:22Mrs. Young?
04:23I came to see you.
04:26Adam's been taking care of me these past few days.
04:28I felt bad he couldn't come, so I made you chicken soup.
04:33No, thank you.
04:34I'm allergic to chicken.
04:35Are you still angry with me?
04:37I spent three hours making this.
04:39Just one sip.
04:40Please?
04:42I said no.
04:47You bad woman!
04:49You hurt my mom!
04:51Stop!
04:52Gavin, stop!
04:57Oh!
05:03Gavin!
05:05Gavin!
05:09Hey, what happened to Gavin?
05:11I brought soup for Mrs. Young.
05:13She got angry, and then Gavin fell because she pushed him.
05:19He hit me first.
05:20I only pushed him away.
05:21He's three, Claire.
05:22You can't have children, so you hate his son.
05:26Outside, ice water until Gavin stops crying.
05:30Mom, she's still injured.
05:32And Gavin?
05:32What about next time?
05:34Adam, forget it.
05:37Drag her out.
05:38Do what she said.
05:45Adam?
05:48Hurry.
05:49Treat the child's wound.
05:52He answered me with silence.
05:54And his back.
05:56I was still recovering from surgery,
05:58but they forced me onto the freezing concrete anyway.
06:05The water soaked through my bandas.
06:07I could feel my wounds opening again.
06:10And after that answer,
06:11I stopped waiting for Adam to change his mind.
06:26Adam?
06:28I'm here.
06:29Don't be afraid, Claire.
06:31It was only a nightmare.
06:32No one can hurt you.
06:34For one second, I believed him.
06:37Dad, you promised to play trains with me.
06:41Gavin, Dad is with Mrs. Young.
06:43Let's go play.
06:44No, I want Dad.
06:46All right.
06:47Dad is coming.
06:49Claire, wait for me.
06:50I'll be back.
06:53For one second,
06:54I had believed he was still my Adam.
06:57Then he kept choosing them
06:59until I stopped waiting for him
07:00and only waited for the divorce.
07:08Claire, come to the hospital right now.
07:10What for?
07:11I'm not going.
07:12I said get over here immediately.
07:13Don't make me repeat myself
07:14or I'll have my bodyguards drag you here.
07:16I got it.
07:18I knew he wasn't asking.
07:20The closer I got,
07:21the worse the feeling in my chest waste.
07:25Mrs. Young, I'm begging you.
07:26If you hate me, take it out on me.
07:28Gavin is still so young.
07:29What are you doing?
07:29Get up.
07:30You mean Gavin's allergic to mangoes.
07:30Why did you make him eat cake with mango in it?
07:32Did you want him dead?
07:34Mangoes?
07:35Cake?
07:35I had no idea what she was talking about.
07:39The housekeeper saw you take the cake downstairs.
07:42Gavin ate it and went into an athletic choke.
07:44Explain that.
07:46I never went downstairs.
07:47You don't believe me?
07:49Last time you hurt Gavin.
07:51Now he almost died.
07:52How am I supposed to believe you?
07:54He hit me first last time.
07:56I had nothing to do with this.
07:58Enough.
07:59The evidence is solid.
08:02Then there's nothing I can say.
08:04Someone!
08:08Adam, what are you doing?
08:10You keep hurting Gavin
08:12because you think you can have a child.
08:15I've booked surgery to remove your uterus.
08:17Then Gavin will be your only child.
08:25Adam, are you insane?
08:26This is my body.
08:28You have no right.
08:29Hold her down.
08:32I hate you.
08:33You'll regret this.
08:34Take her to the operating room.
08:36Chief surgeon, make sure it's foolproof.
08:38Adam, please.
08:39I'll accept Ariana and Gavin.
08:41I swear.
08:42Please don't do this.
08:49The hysterectomy was successful.
08:51Rest well, avoid strenuous activity,
08:53and keep the wound dry.
08:59Claire, I'm sorry.
09:00I lost my head.
09:01I love you, but I can't lose Gavin.
09:03I know I hurt you.
09:03I only wanted to protect this family.
09:15Over the next few days, Adam visited every day.
09:19He talked a lot, but I didn't take in a single word.
09:22My heart seemed to have died along with my removed uterus.
09:34Ariana, what happened?
09:36Weren't you shopping?
09:38A woman fought me over a scarf.
09:41She slapped me, then had people corner me.
09:44She threatened to hand me over to men.
09:51I'm okay.
09:53Your bodyguard saved me.
09:54They caught her.
09:56Put the bodyguard on.
10:00Mr. Young.
10:01Where is she?
10:03Right here.
10:04We have her.
10:05Teach her a lesson.
10:06Break her bones.
10:07She threatened Ariana with men.
10:09Make her suffer the same.
10:11Find men.
10:12Yes, Mr. Young.
10:14Ariana, don't be afraid.
10:16I'm coming.
10:16Does your face still hurt?
10:18Little.
10:20Did you hear that?
10:21He didn't even ask who you were.
10:22I'm the one he protects.
10:24You're nothing.
10:26What are you waiting for?
10:28Execute the order.
10:43For the entire night, I was tossed about and toyed with by the men, like a broken rag doll
10:48stripped of my soul.
10:49Miss Peterson, the divorce decree is ready.
10:51Where should I send it?
10:53Mason, give me a minute.
10:54I'm going to send you something.
11:02What is it?
11:03Just wait for me.
11:07Mason, did you receive the videos?
11:10Yes, I got them.
11:11Miss Peterson, how could those men do this to you?
11:14Put the videos and the divorce decree on a flash drive.
11:17Use the fastest courier service.
11:20Send it to Young Group, executive office, directly to Adam.
11:24Tell him this is my divorce gift to him.
11:27I wasn't asking Adam for an answer anymore.
11:29I was leaving him the truth.
11:36I changed everything I had been wearing and went straight to the airport.
11:43Passengers for the next departing flight, please proceed to your boarding gate.
11:50I held a one-way ticket to somewhere I had never been.
11:52I didn't know what waited there.
11:54I only knew Adam wouldn't be there.
11:56I only knew Adam wouldn't be there.
12:12Mr. Young, there's a package for you.
12:14The finder is, uh, attorney Mason's office.
12:19Open it.
12:28What is the meaning of this?
12:33Impossible.
12:34I never signed anything.
12:36Who gave her this divorce decree?
12:38Mr. Young, under the law,
12:41if one party suffers long-term domestic violence or severe injury,
12:45the court can grant a divorce without the other party's consent.
12:48He grabbed the flash drive,
12:50his fingers shaking so badly,
12:52it took him several tries to plug it into the computer port.
12:56The moment the video files opened,
12:58his world completely collapsed.
13:00On the surveillance footage,
13:02I had a sack pulled over my head
13:04and was pinned to the ground by a group of men.
13:08I had sent Adam every second the cameras had recorded.
13:11Keep it playing.
13:13No.
13:14Stay back.
13:15Let me go.
13:18I'm Claire.
13:19I'm Adam's wife.
13:21Mr. Young gave the order.
13:23That's all we need.
13:24Adam.
13:26Adam, where are you?
13:28Please help me.
13:30Please help me.
13:35My voice stayed on that recording,
13:37calling for the man I still believed might come.
13:39Mr. Young,
13:40we should stop the video.
13:43Don't touch it.
13:45You've seen enough.
13:46Let me turn it off.
13:48Get out.
13:51Mr. Young,
13:52get out!
13:58Adam,
13:59where are you?
14:00Please help me.
14:02The recording ended with the order
14:04that decided what happened to me.
14:06Teach her a severe lesson.
14:08Make sure she never forgets it.
14:10She threatened Ariana with humiliation.
14:13Then let her face the same humiliation.
14:16Find ten men.
14:18Handle it tonight.
14:19If you can't do it,
14:20don't come back to me tomorrow.
14:33Adam,
14:34something happened.
14:35A woman at the mall slapped me and threatened me.
14:38Where are you?
14:39Are you okay?
14:43Are you okay?
14:46I didn't know it then,
14:48but he never even asked who that woman was.
14:50He chose Ariana first.
14:52By then,
14:52I had already left.
14:54Whatever Adam understood now
14:55could not undo what had happened.
14:57Mr. Young,
14:57where are you going?
14:59Mr. Young!
15:13Mom,
15:14look how high I built it.
15:15I see it.
15:16That's very high.
15:18That living room had once been ours.
15:20By the time I left,
15:22Ariana and Gavin had filled it with their own life.
15:29Adam?
15:30What happened?
15:32Why do you look so awful?
15:33I sent Adam the footage.
15:35There was nothing left to explain.
15:37The woman who hit you at the mall.
15:39Who was she?
15:42Why are you asking now?
15:43It's over.
15:44I don't want to talk about it.
15:45It was terrifying.
15:46I asked you.
15:47Who was she?
15:53You're scaring him!
15:55I don't know who she was!
15:57Just some crazy woman
15:58who grabbed my things and hit me!
16:00Is it that?
16:03Ariana knew my name.
16:04She had called me Claire herself.
16:07Was this her?
16:08The woman who took your scarf,
16:10confronted you,
16:11and threatened to ruin you?
16:12Was it Claire?
16:16I don't know.
16:17I didn't see clearly.
16:19Her face was covered.
16:20I really couldn't tell who it was.
16:22You didn't see clearly.
16:28I had already left.
16:30No answer could undo what happened to me.
16:32You didn't see clearly?
16:35You didn't see clearly,
16:37and I gave an order that left her badly hurt.
16:41You didn't see clearly,
16:42and I sent ten men to humiliate and destroy her all night.
16:47Ariana, look at me and tell me again.
16:48You didn't see clearly.
16:55By then, I was already gone.
16:57Ariana could no longer hide behind the same story.
17:00Adam, I was wrong.
17:02I lied to you.
17:04I shouldn't have done that.
17:06Claire always treated me like I was the woman who ruined your marriage.
17:09She never respected me.
17:10I couldn't stand it.
17:11I only wanted to scare her and make her back off.
17:16You heard everything I said that night.
17:19Don't tell me you had no idea where it would lead.
17:21I never thought it would go that far.
17:23I only wanted her to suffer a little and leave us alone.
17:25Whatever Ariana meant to start,
17:27I was the one who lived with the result.
17:30I was jealous, yes,
17:32but I never wanted her life destroyed.
17:35Then why didn't you stop me?
17:36You heard every word and let it continue.
17:39Look at what was left behind.
17:41Claire disappeared because of what we said and did.
17:43Please put it away.
17:45Leave mom alone.
17:46Don't come closer.
17:48For Gavin,
17:50Adam had chosen Ariana again and again.
17:52Ahai.
17:53Find all ten people involved that night.
17:55I want every one of them found.
17:56Deal with all ten.
17:57Don't let a single one disappear.
17:59Understood, Mr. Young.
18:02And find 100 people living on the streets.
18:05The roughest group you can find.
18:10What are you planning to do?
18:13For years,
18:15Gavin had been the reason Adam chose them over me.
18:17Go upstairs, Gavin.
18:19No, I want mom.
18:21I'm staying with mom.
18:24Enough.
18:25Go upstairs now,
18:26or I'll send you away too.
18:32Adam, you can't do this.
18:33I'm Gavin's mother.
18:34I gave you a son.
18:35From today on,
18:36your guardianship ends here.
18:38My lawyers will handle the paperwork.
18:40By then,
18:41I had already lost my marriage,
18:42my health,
18:43and the life I knew.
18:44No, Adam.
18:45Don't take Gavin from me.
18:46I was wrong.
18:46Punish me however you want,
18:47but don't take my son.
18:49You think losing Gavin
18:50is the whole consequence of you?
18:53He's my life.
18:54Please, I'm begging you.
18:55Claire lost far more
18:56because of what we did.
18:58Every injury,
18:58every humiliation,
18:59every part of her life
19:00that was destroyed,
19:01you will answer for it.
19:02No.
19:05Is this legal?
19:06Nothing Adam did afterward
19:08could return what I had already lost.
19:10You can't decide all of this yourself.
19:11This has gone too far.
19:13It's against the law.
19:14And you think the law
19:15will ignore what you did to Claire?
19:17You started this
19:18and helped it happen.
19:22Come in.
19:27Take her downstairs.
19:28Lock the basement.
19:30Keep her there
19:30until I give the next instruction
19:31and hand her to the police.
19:32No, you can't do this!
19:35By then,
19:36I had already left that house behind.
19:41Adam,
19:42you can't do this to me.
19:43Everything I did was for you.
19:45I love you more than Claire ever did.
19:47Why does she get to keep
19:48your name and your place?
19:50Mom!
19:51Mom,
19:51where are you going?
19:58I never saw that morning.
20:00I only knew
20:01I would never return to that home.
20:03Check every airport,
20:04station, hotel,
20:05and travel record.
20:06Start from the day Claire left.
20:07I bought one ticket
20:08and want to stay anywhere long.
20:09We found her.
20:09She went to the airport
20:10and bought a ticket
20:11to the first transfer city.
20:15When did she leave?
20:16The same day,
20:17she didn't come back.
20:18She came through here
20:19then took a bus
20:20to the lakeside stop.
20:25The airport was only the beginning.
20:27At the lakeside stop,
20:28I stayed only one night.
20:29Yes, I remember her.
20:30She stayed here alone for one night.
20:32She left early
20:32and headed for the train station.
20:35She bought a ticket
20:36to the Old Town Mountain stop.
20:40And after that,
20:41hotel, ticket, anything?
20:43Nothing.
20:44The records stop here.
20:45After that,
20:46I left no trail
20:47for him to follow.
20:49At that mountain stop,
20:51Have you seen this woman?
20:52I stopped leaving records behind.
20:54Sorry,
20:54I don't recognize her.
20:56What about you?
20:57Maybe a few days ago?
20:58She looks familiar,
20:59maybe.
20:59I can't remember where.
21:00Please think again.
21:01Any street,
21:01any guest house.
21:05No,
21:06I'm sorry,
21:06I really don't know.
21:11Seven days passed,
21:12and he still couldn't find me.
21:16Have you seen this woman?
21:17Her name is Claire Peterson.
21:19We get many travelers here.
21:20I'm sorry,
21:20I can't be sure.
21:21You can look around.
21:26I left only one sentence in that town.
21:29The rest of my life is mine.
21:31I pressed the pen hard enough to leave grooves.
21:34Sir,
21:34are you all right?
21:35Do you need help?
21:36No,
21:37just give me a minute.
21:41It was a promise I made to myself.
21:43Have you seen her?
21:44Please look again.
21:45Three months passed,
21:46and I stayed beyond his reach.
21:47No,
21:48sorry,
21:48I haven't seen her.
21:49Check the next town,
21:50and every village along the western route.
21:52We've checked them.
21:53No confirmed sighting,
21:54no useful record.
21:56No.
21:57Her,
21:58have you seen her?
21:59No.
22:00My life was finally moving without him in it.
22:15Three months had passed,
22:16since I disappeared from his world.
22:17You said someone saw her.
22:19Where?
22:19A remote lakeside town.
22:21We have a witness who saw a woman matching Claire's photo.
22:23Put the witness on.
22:25I saw her near a small cafe deep in the town.
22:27She looked very much like the woman in your photo.
22:30Send me the exact location.
22:32Now.
22:34I thought the distance between us had finally become permanent.
22:37I had chosen a town far enough away to feel like another life.
22:43Is the cafe on the main street?
22:45No.
22:46It's deeper inside the town,
22:47away from the busy area.
22:49What should I look for?
22:50A narrow alley,
22:51flowers all around the entrance,
22:53and a wooden sign on the door.
22:55I'm here.
22:56I'll find it.
22:59I never imagined he would reach that town.
23:04Keep going.
23:05The cafe should be at the end of that alley.
23:07I see the flowers.
23:09That's it.
23:09The wooden sign should say open today.
23:11I found it.
23:14For three months,
23:16my days had finally become quiet.
23:17I could sit by a window,
23:19read a book,
23:20and belong only to myself.
23:22That afternoon,
23:23I was smiling at something on the page.
23:26Then I looked up and saw Adam standing at the door.
23:34I had spent three months learning how to live without him.
23:39Seeing Adam again did not change that.
23:41He belonged to the life I had already left.
23:47Claire.
23:57For more than 10 years,
24:01he had always been Adam to me.
24:03That afternoon,
24:04Mr. Young was the only name that felt right.
24:06Sorry for what?
24:11For everything.
24:13I shouldn't have believed Ariana.
24:15I should have listened to you.
24:18I shouldn't have made those decisions.
24:20I shouldn't have let any of it happen.
24:22Every I shouldn't have came after I had already left.
24:26Nothing he said could return the life I had lost.
24:34I shouldn't have hurt you.
24:35I shouldn't have let any of this happen.
24:36I shouldn't have...
24:39Oh.
24:41Are you done then?
24:44If you're done,
24:45please leave.
24:45I want to read my book.
24:53I had already ended our marriage before I left.
24:56Claire,
24:56come back with me.
24:58I'll spend the rest of my life making this right.
25:01Ariana will face the law.
25:02Everyone involved that night will answer for it.
25:07But consequences were not the same as getting my life back.
25:10Mr. Young,
25:11you misunderstood.
25:12You received the divorce graffiti.
25:13You and I have nothing to do with each other anymore.
25:15Legally,
25:16we're strangers.
25:17Some things cannot be repaired after they are taken from you.
25:20Give me one chance,
25:21Claire.
25:21Let me make it up to you.
25:23Make it up how?
25:26Can you undo what that surgery took from me?
25:29Erase those ten people from that night from my memory?
25:34Can you give me back three months without waking from nightmares?
25:38Promises what I hate most is simple.
25:40Every time I needed you,
25:42you chose someone else.
25:43After the accident,
25:44you chose Ariana.
25:46The accident was not the only time.
25:48I remembered every choice.
25:50At the hospital,
25:51I needed your signature.
25:53You told me Ariana needed you more.
26:01Tell me what I have to do.
26:03Anything.
26:04I'll do it.
26:05Adam,
26:06get up.
26:06Don't do this here.
26:08I won't.
26:08If you don't forgive me,
26:10I'll keep kneeling.
26:12Then keep kneeling.
26:16Three months ago,
26:17seeing him like this would have broken my resolve.
26:20That afternoon,
26:20I felt no need to stay.
26:22Claire,
26:23I'm begging you.
26:25Give me one chance,
26:26even one day,
26:26one hour,
26:27one minute.
26:28Let me prove that I finally understand how wrong I was.
26:35I looked at him and realized I no longer felt the way I once had.
26:39All right,
26:41I'll give you a chance.
26:42From here,
26:43move on your knees all the way back to our home city.
26:45If he wanted a chance,
26:46I would give him a condition he could not misunderstand.
26:48If you make it,
26:49I'll consider forgiving you.
26:58Okay.
27:00I'll do it.
27:02I never promised forgiveness.
27:04I only said I would consider it.
27:07Then I turned around and left him there.
27:12I walked away without waiting to see what Adam would do next.
27:171,200 kilometers separated that cafe from the city we once called home.
27:21I had given him the condition.
27:23What he chose after that was his decision.
27:26I did not stay to watch the road,
27:28the weather,
27:29or every step.
27:30I only knew I was moving forward with my own life.
27:33Behind me,
27:34Adam began moving forward too.
27:38I had already left him behind.
27:40What he chose to do with that condition was his decision.
27:43The first day alone was 20 kilometers.
27:47There was no shortcut.
27:49Every meter had to be crossed the same way.
27:57By night,
27:58he reached a small motel beside the road.
28:01I had never asked him to prove anything beyond the condition itself.
28:05The second day,
28:06his body was already failing to keep pace with the distance.
28:10By the third day,
28:11he could no longer keep moving on his own.
28:14Sir,
28:15can you hear me?
28:17You need to stop.
28:19If you continue like this,
28:20you could permanently damage your legs.
28:22Stay here and rest.
28:24Your body needs time.
28:26Wait!
28:27You're not ready to leave.
28:30I have to keep going.
28:36By the fifth day,
28:38strangers had begun turning his journey into a public story.
28:41Wait,
28:41is that Adam Young?
28:42The Young family heir?
28:44What is he doing?
28:44Maybe this is the consequence he chose.
28:47Some people will call it devotion,
28:48or maybe it's all for attention.
28:52People could call it whatever they wanted.
28:56I had still promised him nothing.
29:05I had already told Adam which choices I could never forget.
29:10At the hospital,
29:11I needed your signature.
29:13You told me Ariana needed you more.
29:15Later,
29:16when I collapsed from the freezing water,
29:18you told them to continue.
29:19How can I forgive that?
29:22If you make it,
29:23I'll consider forgiving you.
29:26I never promised him anything more than that.
29:28By the 23rd day,
29:30the story reached our home city before Adam did.
29:32That's Adam Young.
29:33He actually made it back.
29:3523 days.
29:36He really crossed the whole route.
29:38Whatever people call this,
29:39it was his own choice.
29:41Please step back.
29:42Give him space.
29:45His legs aren't responding normally.
29:47Call the medical team.
29:48Is he even able to keep moving?
29:50I wasn't in that square.
29:52I had already chose a life somewhere else.
29:58I wasn't there when the doctors examined him.
30:01Adam,
30:01both legs have suffered severe,
30:03irreversible damage.
30:04There is almost no normal response
30:06left below the knees.
30:08You need major surgery immediately.
30:12The procedure will have to begin above the thighs.
30:15If we wait,
30:15the complications can spread through your whole body.
30:18By then,
30:19what he had done to himself
30:20could no longer be ignored.
30:23Gavin had stood at the center
30:24of too many choices that pushed me out.
30:26The procedure is over.
30:27You need rest and a long recovery.
30:29I don't care about that.
30:29I need to speak to Claire.
30:31Elijah,
30:31send Gavin to a children's care home.
30:33Arrange it today.
30:33Mr. Young,
30:34are you sure?
30:35Your parents will never accept this.
30:36I'm sure.
30:37Finish the paperwork
30:37and make sure he is properly cared for.
30:40Understood.
30:40I'll arrange it.
30:49You sent Gavin away?
30:51Adam,
30:51he is your son.
30:52Bring him back.
30:52This is not a decision you can make like him.
30:54The decision is made.
30:55You have to take it back.
30:56If you keep interfering,
30:58I won't cooperate with anything you arrange for me.
31:03Leave.
31:07Come on.
31:07We're leaving.
31:14I had promised only that I would consider forgiving him.
31:17Hello?
31:20Claire,
31:21it's me.
31:22It's me.
31:22I made it.
31:24Twelve hundred kilometers.
31:25I came all the way back on my knees.
31:31Oh.
31:32Then you can go back.
31:39I had promised to consider forgiveness.
31:41I had never promised the answer would be yes.
31:43You said if I made it back,
31:45you would consider forgiving me.
31:47I considered it.
31:48My answer is no.
31:50I don't forgive you.
31:54Claire,
31:55you can't do this.
31:56You can't change your word after all of that.
31:58I changed my mind.
32:01So what?
32:06You lied to me.
32:07You never meant to forgive me from the beginning?
32:13You lied to me for three years.
32:15I lied to you once.
32:16We're even.
32:20Claire,
32:21please.
32:21Just come see me once.
32:23Only once.
32:24I'm not asking for anything else.
32:26Just let me see you one more time.
32:28The life I had built in those three months
32:30no longer had a place reserved for Adam.
32:33What would be the point of seeing you?
32:35To hear that you still love me?
32:36That you know you were wrong?
32:41Adam,
32:42that love is too cheap.
32:43You shared it with another woman,
32:44and you gave up my life for a child.
32:46I don't need it.
32:47These three months,
32:48I've been doing well.
32:49I have my own cafe,
32:51my own friends,
32:51and a new life.
32:52I don't need you anymore, Adam.
33:01Adam!
33:02Wait for me!
33:05Adam,
33:07I like you.
33:09There was a time when saying I loved him
33:10felt like the simplest truth in my life.
33:12By the time I left,
33:14that version of me belonged to the past.
33:15His message did not change the boundary
33:17I had already set.
33:18Please come see me.
33:20I mean what I said.
33:23Do what you want.
33:24I'm not coming.
33:33I really mean it.
33:34I'm not bluffing.
33:37I had spent too many years
33:38letting his choices decide mine.
33:41I knew what Adam was trying
33:42to make me responsible for.
33:45I know.
33:51Aren't you afraid of what I might do?
33:53No.
33:54Because your life has nothing to do with me anymore.
33:57His life was no longer a decision
33:59I had to make for him.
34:03I was no longer there
34:04to see what Adam chose
34:05after that night.
34:07Recover every message
34:08Ariana used to frame Claire.
34:10I want every screenshot.
34:11We recovered the mall surveillance.
34:12It shows Claire being taken away
34:13from the entrance.
34:16Add the hospital records
34:18in Claire's surgical consent form.
34:19Put everything in one file.
34:21That's everything we can verify.
34:24You're submitting all of this
34:25as evidence in Claire Peterson's case?
34:27Yes.
34:27All of it.
34:31By the time the police came for Ariana
34:33I had already been gone for months.
34:35Ariana White
34:36we're here regarding the case
34:37involving Claire Peterson.
34:39You're being taken into custody.
34:40You'll answer through the legal process.
34:43And Adam
34:44is he being investigated too?
34:47Your case is being handled now.
34:48Come with us.
34:49The evidence will be reviewed in court.
34:50You'll have the chance to respond there.
34:55Later
34:55I learned Ariana
34:57had been sentenced to 15 years.
34:59Ariana White
35:00the court sentences you
35:01to 15 years in prison.
35:05You think this ends with me?
35:07Adam gave the orders!
35:09Miss White
35:09please remain orderly.
35:11He was the one
35:12who told those men
35:13to ruin Claire.
35:14He was the one in control.
35:15He should answer
35:16for more than I ever did!
35:18Order in the court.
35:21Ariana's sentence
35:21was not the end of the case.
35:25I did not attend Adam's trial.
35:28Do you have anything else to say
35:29before sentencing?
35:33I am guilty of serious
35:34unforgivable wrongs.
35:36I hurt the person I love most
35:37and changed her life
35:38in ways I can never repair.
35:39I don't ask Claire to forgive me.
35:42I only hope she lives well.
35:44Claire
35:45I'm sorry.
35:46For the combined offenses
35:48the court sentences you
35:49to life imprisonment.
35:51I will not appeal.
35:52Could you help me mail a letter?
35:54I did not know Adam
35:55was writing to me that night.
35:56Write it.
35:57I'll send it out for you.
36:02Claire, I know you won't forgive me.
36:04I don't deserve forgiveness.
36:06I only want you to know
36:07that everyone connected
36:08to that night
36:09has been identified
36:10and held accountable.
36:11Ariana has faced the law too.
36:13None of us escaped
36:14the consequences.
36:15Whatever he wrote,
36:16my decision about our relationship
36:18had already been made.
36:19I had already asked Adam
36:20to disappear from my life.
36:22The court gave me
36:23a life sentence.
36:24I will never appear
36:25in front of you again.
36:27Live well.
36:29Forget me.
36:30Treat these past years
36:31between us
36:32as a dream
36:33that has already ended.
36:36Now that you're awake,
36:37leave that dream behind.
36:39Adam.
36:43At that moment,
36:44I still knew nothing
36:45about the letter.
36:52When Adam's letter reached me,
36:54I had already built a life
36:55that no longer included him.
36:57Claire,
36:57I know you won't forgive me.
36:58I don't deserve forgiveness.
37:00I will never appear
37:01in front of you again.
37:03Live well.
37:03Forget me.
37:05Treat these past years
37:06as a dream
37:06that has already ended.
37:07Adam.
37:08Once,
37:09I thought the boy
37:10under the Wistra
37:10would be my whole lifetime.
37:12I was wrong.
37:13I put his letter away.
37:14I never asked
37:15what his life became
37:16after that.
37:17You're making a mess again.
37:18Move your tray.
37:22Why does everyone
37:22have to wait for you?
37:24I'm not asking anyone
37:25to wait.
37:28Easy.
37:29Hold the chair.
37:30I'll help you back up.
37:33What did you do
37:34to end up here for life?
37:40I never knew what Adam
37:41told people about me
37:42after he was imprisoned.
37:44I hurt the person
37:45I loved most.
37:47Just for that?
37:49Just for that.
37:51Then you made choices
37:53I'll never understand.
37:55Your post-surgery complications
37:57keep returning.
37:58You need more extensive treatment.
37:59We can't perform
38:01that procedure here.
38:02For now,
38:02all we can do
38:03is control the symptoms
38:04with medication.
38:13By then,
38:14Adam and I
38:15had been living
38:15in completely separate worlds
38:17for a long time.
38:18Claire.
38:19I like you.
38:21Claire.
38:21Claire.
38:22Claire.
38:23Claire.
38:23Claire.
38:24I don't need you
38:25anymore, Adam.
38:27Claire.
38:36Three years passed
38:38without Adam
38:38appearing in my life again.
38:40Adam,
38:41your condition
38:41has become critical.
38:42The complications
38:43are affecting
38:44your whole body.
38:45Treatment can only
38:45keep you stable
38:46for a very short time.
38:47You may have
38:48only a few days.
38:51Do you want us
38:51to notify your family?
38:53No.
38:54What about Claire?
38:55Do you want us
38:55to contact her?
38:58No.
38:59She said she never
39:00wants to see me again.
39:05I was far away,
39:07living the life
39:08I had chosen
39:08for myself.
39:10Adam,
39:12I like you.
39:14Claire.
39:17Claire.
39:18Claire,
39:18don't go.
39:27Claire.
39:36One cappuccino,
39:37please.
39:38Of course.
39:38Here you go.
39:41Claire,
39:41this one's for you
39:42today.
39:43Dinner after you
39:44close?
39:45Not tonight,
39:46but thank you.
39:51Claire,
39:52take a look at this.
39:54Three years had passed.
39:56My life had kept moving.
40:04The letter was still
40:05exactly where I had
40:06left it.
40:07Claire,
40:08day 1086
40:09since you left.
40:10I think about you
40:10every day.
40:11I dreamed of us
40:11as children again
40:12with you running
40:13after me
40:13and calling my name.
40:14If there were
40:14another life,
40:15I'd want no money
40:16or power.
40:16Just a small shop
40:17in a quiet town
40:18waiting for you
40:19to come home.
40:20Claire,
40:20I'm sorry.
40:21I love you
40:22forever.
40:25Today's coffee
40:26is on me.
40:29That night,
40:30I walked through
40:31the old streets
40:32and never looked back.
40:38morning,
40:39morning, Claire.
40:40A white daisy today.
40:45Good morning.
40:46What can I get you?
40:47An Americano, please.
40:48Coming right up.
40:50The past stayed behind me.
40:52My life was still here
40:53and I kept living it.
40:54I kept living it.
40:54in a 7 to 7.
