00:01Social media platforms give you what they want you to like.
00:04There is definitely no one individually exercising control.
00:09Algorithms force feed us content without consent.
00:12Racism.
00:14Misogyny.
00:15Ableism.
00:16Extreme violence.
00:18None of it is asked for.
00:20The digital world plays by different rules.
00:23If this showed up on your doorstep or supermarket shelves,
00:27there'd be outrage.
00:29So we put it there.
00:31We turned data into food.
00:34Every item based on a real feed.
00:38Creating a fictional brand.
00:40Algorithm.
00:42To stop the forced feed, food became our media.
00:46Packed into hampers, the nation started unboxing.
00:50We took over supermarket shelves
00:53and delivered directly to Downing Street.
00:57The conversation was everywhere.
01:04So the CyberSmile Foundation is calling for social media companies
01:08to introduce enhanced parental controls.
01:10People should be given the agency to filter what they find harmful
01:14at that particular time in their life.
01:16Within days, the Prime Minister responded.
01:19We've been chatting to the charity CyberSmile.
01:21Now they're calling for total algorithmic autonomy.
01:24Is that something that you would support?
01:26We can't leave young people to try and self-police here.
01:29That's why the government's got to step into that space
01:31and do something about it.
01:32We've had direct meetings with cabinet members
01:35from the European Commission.
01:37We've had open dialogue with shadow ministers and MPs in the UK.
01:42Engaged directly with social media platforms
01:44who actually reached out to us rather than us chasing them,
01:47which was slightly unprecedented.
01:49For a creative campaign to lead to all these things
01:52is the stuff dreams are made of.
