00:00Hello everybody. Here on this hot day in the District of Columbia, we have a bunch of Marylanders, a bunch
00:07of Washingtonians, a bunch of Virginians who come together essentially to show our support for Davey Hearn. The charges have
00:15been dropped against him, but some people in the government do not want to drop those charges with prejudice, meaning
00:22they might want to come back again if Donald Trump changes his mind.
00:25Well, we're simply here to say Davey Hearn is innocent. He's got nothing to do with the toxic contamination of
00:33the reflecting pool and the algae farm that's growing in it. That is a problem with the Trump administration, and
00:41they should deal with it without bringing my constituent Davey Hearn into it. And I'm happy to answer any questions
00:46you've got.
00:53Yes, well, I mean, Davey Hearn is a diamond in the rough. He's just a gem in our community. He's
00:59taught generations of young people how to canoe, how to kayak.
01:03He's a three-time Olympic canoeist himself. And he's deeply invested in our beautiful fauna and flora in the Maryland,
01:13DC, Virginia area. And he's always out cleaning up and helping. And that's why he was down at the reflecting
01:19pool when they decided to send federal agents in to arrest him and set him up on these bogus frame
01:25-up charges.
01:26But he actually takes care of national park property?
01:30He did. He does. Yeah, yeah. You guys know Councilman Adam Van Grack.
01:34So my name's Adam Van Grack. I'm a councilman of the city of Rockville, but I'm formerly the chair of
01:39the U.S. Olympic Committee for canoe and kayak sports.
01:42And also was a former student of Davey Hearn. He was my coach.
01:46But one of the most ironic parts of what's happening here before Davey Hearn is they're accusing him of being
01:51a malicious destroyer of federal property.
01:54Yet for years, Davey Hearn has been the caretaker of federal national park property along the C&O Canal.
02:01Lockhouse No. 6, Davey Hearn and his wife Jennifer have spent years taking care of it at no charge to
02:07them to preserve national property.
02:09He has also taken care of the feeder canal slalom course, which is on the national park, C&O Canal
02:16National Historic Park.
02:17So the idea that someone who spends years, if not decades, taking care of national park property is a militia
02:24destroyer of national park property.
02:26It shocks the conscious to anybody who knows Davey and therefore makes it that much more ridiculous that we're all
02:33having to stand here to defend someone who's clearly innocent.
02:36Drop the charges, please, Davey Hearn.

02:47Well, that's really what's an issue in the court today.
02:51Should the charges have been dropped, should they be dropped with prejudice, meaning they can't change their mind and come
02:57back again?
02:58Or should they be, you know, charged without prejudice?
03:01The government is arguing they should be dropped without prejudice.
03:04But that's ridiculous. There's no evidence against him.
03:06And it's very clear from the Department of Interior's own admission that the problem was a botched installation by the
03:15consultant who Donald Trump hired for that no bid insider contract.
03:25Yeah, we've spoken a couple of times on the phone and I'd met him once before.
03:29He's well known in our community.
03:31Yeah.
03:32Yeah.
03:35So I and I just want to thank all these people who came out in the middle of a work
03:39day to show support for Davey Hearn.
03:42Obviously, solidarity is going to be the watchword when the government weaponizes prosecution for totally bogus political purposes.
