00:00But then I hear some of the sound that Lane is coming out and saying where, well, it's not about
00:04bringing in starters.
00:06We're willing to bring in guys who are even just backups if it's to make our team better.
00:12I'm not going to play in eligible players, Bill.
00:15Like, I'm following the rules.
00:17You know, Lane does as good a job of victimizing himself as anybody I've ever seen.
00:22Yeah, he obviously paints himself into that corner where it's like, well, I'm only doing it because it's basically finding
00:33the loophole, right?
00:34You know, I make the comparison to Lane being this guy that he's like a TV character that you just
00:41that annoys you all the time.
00:44But he plays that role to perfection.
00:47You know, the Fansville commercial was a great example of that last week where I laughed at it.
00:52And then when he does things like this, where it's common sense, right?
00:57It's kind of what Texas Tech was doing.
00:59But Lane Kiffin's more of a personality than anybody that was on that Texas Tech.
01:05Remember when they did that, like, board of, you know, the school president, the athletic director, and they were all
01:11in that room together on the video.
01:14Lane's a larger personality than any of those guys.
01:16So, I don't like it.
01:18I hope we get a resolution before Friday.
01:21And we talked about last week how this could have been avoided had they given, like, a deadline with an
01:27exemption when 5-for-5 took effect.
01:30But Lane's going to play the angles.
01:31He certainly is.
01:33And I don't think, you know what, for as much as we talk about him, I just don't think he
01:36cares what we think.
01:37And that's credit to him somehow.
01:40You know, he's either the least aware or most self-aware person on the planet.
01:46I mean, it's amazing when you get to that, though.
01:49Like, where you're like, this guy is either just smarter than everyone else or just doesn't care.
01:54Because those are the only two realities we could be living in.
01:57With him saying some of this stuff, when you have literally, I mean, anonymous SEC presidents or ADs, but they're
02:05like, hey, we got other schools that will take their spot.
02:08I mean, do you think that there's real conversation here, Bill, where if LSU keeps horsing around, I mean, we're
02:15going to put the screws to these guys a little bit.
02:18And it might be legal to play them, but nobody else is doing that.
02:22So you can either get in line with everybody else and start following the rules, or we're going to start
02:27exploring other possibilities.
02:29And we know, like, LSU, like, they're in a financial pinch, like a lot of schools are.
02:35So, I mean, they couldn't afford to – the thought of someone getting booted out of a conference is crazy.
02:39But I feel like that might be a realistic possibility.
02:42This has kind of been the most galvanizing thing, Bill, since the Soresby thing at Texas Tech.
02:47Yeah, for sure.
02:48And a couple things on that.
02:50Like, at what point does it become a distraction on game week?
02:54You know, I know on the telecast Saturday that if these guys are on the sideline, they're going to –
03:00the camera's going to constantly go to them.
03:02It's going to be a constant topic of conversation.
03:05You know, they are playing Clemson.
03:06It's not like Clemson's a bad team.
03:08Clemson is a – you know, right outside the top 25.
03:11You know, Dabo's got a lot to prove.
03:13And Lane's still talking about NFL players playing on campus.
03:17They've become a punchline of sorts because of it.
03:19It's been back-to-back headlines between Jaden Daniels and that constant thing that happened there.
03:25And then yesterday you watched things like the SEC shorts on LSU.
03:29I mean, at what point is it about football?
03:32And for Lane Kiffin, at what point does it become about football for him?
03:36You are seeing what you see in cases like this.
03:39Steele and I were talking about it before the show where, you know, you're seeing LSU fans
03:44and some personalities kind of rallying around the program trying to justify what's going on.
03:49Well, you know, it's been the rules.
03:52You know, anybody else could do it.
03:54But, you know, I think we just – it's kind of like anything else.
03:57It's common sense that a district court ruling doesn't see football the way the three of us do,
04:04where it's like we can see the common sense that maybe a courtroom doesn't.
04:08And that's what – that's why this is college football and not, you know, like a real-life business.
04:13You know what I mean?
04:14And it's hard to explain it that way, but we know what college football should be,
04:18and maybe a court can't literally interpret it that way.
