00:00Oh, no, I can't believe I brought that up in an interview.
00:02You fell for it.
00:02That's so bad.
00:05It's good. It's good.
00:06Lovely to see you again.
00:07Good to see you.
00:08Back for season two.
00:09I think towards the latter end of this season,
00:12my jaw just dropped at the end of each episode.
00:14Like, it's so good.
00:16It's so good.
00:17Great array of new people as well in here.
00:19Who were you really excited to have join?
00:21It was really interesting having Hugh on
00:22because I think the character is very...
00:24It's kind of...
00:25You think it's going to be something similar to he's played before,
00:28but it's actually very different.
00:29And he got to kind of play very freely.
00:33And he's great at comedy.
00:35And he kind of plays it very foppishly and acute in a great way.
00:40By the way, I didn't realise that you had a part in Downton Abbey
00:42like a while back.
00:44Yes, you did.
00:45I didn't. I actually didn't. I only heard it today.
00:47Okay, I'm well done.
00:48Yeah, that was one of my first jobs.
00:50And I played a Turkish guy who corks it, you know, mid coitus.
00:56So I had met Hugh before,
00:58but I really didn't know him at all.
01:00So it was nice to actually know that he was a nice guy
01:02and not a dickhead.
01:04And he's a lovely bloke.
01:06Also, the Italians in it, all of them,
01:08and I thought great performances,
01:12like really nice people, all of them.
01:13But also added genuinely,
01:16I think they're kind of some of the best things
01:18about the second season.
01:19And they're sort of real, real class with humour.
01:23Bene, who plays kind of Eddie's love interest,
01:27she's very classy actress
01:29and comes across really well.
01:32So it was really nice to have new people in.
01:33Are you a cunning linguist, by the way?
01:37That's what Susie calls Eddie.
01:38And obviously we hear the Arabic in here.
01:40Are you actually a cunning linguist?
01:42Yes, I think that,
01:43isn't that like a slight joke on oral sex?
01:48That went over my head
01:50because I'm innocent.
01:52Yes, exactly.
01:53Yeah, I think it's a slight joke,
01:55but the idea...
01:57Oh no, I can't believe I brought that up in an interview.
01:59You fell for it.
01:59That's so bad.
02:02It's good, it's good.
02:03Yeah, we'll give that one in.
02:06He's a cunning linguist.
02:07No, he can speak lots of languages.
02:09And I do have to speak a lot of Arabic,
02:11which is pretty tough.
02:12So, Arabic's not a language at all.
02:15All right, let's move swiftly on.
02:18Doing season one, I imagine,
02:20is an experience,
02:21like working with Guy in that way.
02:22Now that you've done season two,
02:24do you get more used to his way of working
02:26in terms of like coming in
02:27and basically changing everything on the day?
02:30He's like, do it this way.
02:31Like, that's what I've heard so much about.
02:32Yes, you definitely get used to it
02:34and you have to kind of give into it in a way.
02:38And in a positive way,
02:40I think it forces you to lose
02:42some of the pretensions as an actor
02:45that maybe you've collected
02:46if you've been doing it a while.
02:47You know, I've been doing it 15 years
02:49and yeah, you know, you're like,
02:50oh, I need time to get this ready
02:52or like I should be...
02:54And sometimes just throw that out the window
02:57and go for it on the day.
02:59But yeah, second time around,
03:00you're more used to it
03:02and you can also find some quality
03:07in the fact that you're kind of
03:08workshopping stuff before it.
03:09Because something like,
03:11I think it's different for another medium
03:13but when there's comedic elements,
03:15you need the ability for freshness.
03:16So you need the ability to change things on a dime.
03:20So it's always an experience
03:22and it will be an experience again.
03:24In season three,
03:25it's not a job you turn up to and just...
03:28Meet the lines.
03:29Yeah, and you're like talking to your architect
03:32about your extension at the same time.
03:34You've got to kind of kill yourself for it.
03:37But hopefully all for the better.
03:40Well, you don't look like you're struggling with it.
03:42So you do a great job.
03:43But I'm just going to go and relive that moment.
03:46Getting a complete fall of myself
03:48over and over again.
03:50No, it's good.
03:51It's good content.
03:52I mean, sure.
03:54Lovely to see you again.
03:55Thanks so much.
03:56Take it easy.
