This golf lesson focused on one simple adjustment that transformed my iron play. Discover the tip that helped me get my hands higher in the backswing for more power and consistency.
Transcript
00:01This golf lesson helped me gain 10 yards with the same club and I can prove it wasn't a fluke.
00:08In the first 10 minutes of the lesson, PGA pro Alex James could already see that my hands were too
00:13low at the top of the backswing.
00:15Once we'd managed to iron that out and get those hands a little bit higher, we started to see my
00:19carry distance thanks to the Shot Scope LM1 getting a little bit bigger.
00:23105 to 113 but then with a bit of consistency starting to show up to 115 and eventually, with one
00:32of my better efforts in the early parts of the lesson, those numbers were creeping up to 116.
00:38To really put that progress to the test, Alex set me a challenge.
00:42Hit a green at 115 yards, then 125 yards and then 135 yards.
00:49However, the average 20 handicap golfer comes up short of the green 41% of the time from 100 to
00:55150 yards.
00:57So here's the catch. If I come up short just once, Alex makes me start the ladder again.
01:02Thankfully, it didn't take long for me to tick my first green off the list.
01:06This challenge was never going to be straightforward and on cue, I tug one straight left.
01:10But followed that up by getting straight back on the ladder with a lovely effort that carries the 115 needed
01:16for the first green.
01:17A change of club means that I was now going for the 125-yard target and I just about found
01:24the back of the green with this effort.
01:26The final hurdle was the big one, 135 yards needed and here we go.
01:32It looks like Alex's coaching has helped to improve more than just my distance and now I'm ready to take
01:37this progress onto the course.
