00:01A 24-year-old woman admitted to taking part in a transaction intended to permanently transfer
00:06control of a baby in exchange for 17,300 ringgit last month. S. Kelsey entered the plea in the
00:13Sungai Petani Sessions Court for the alternative charge on Tuesday. The court fixed October 5th
00:19for remension and sentencing. The accused took part in the transaction involving the baby,
00:24now 12 days old, at a private hospital between August 18th and August 21st. Earlier, the defense
00:31sought a new date for the facts of the case and sentencing, as well as a lower bail amount,
00:35saying that the accused did not have a permanent job and she had a family to support. The court
00:41eventually granted bail of 10,000 ringgit with one surety. In a separate case at the magistrate's
00:47court, the woman also pleaded guilty to possessing another person's identity card at the same
00:52hospital on August 21st. The magistrate then granted bail of 1,500 ringgit with one surety
00:59and also fixed October 5th for remension and sentencing.
