00:00So the National Football League is trying to send out smoke signals to its fan base
00:06that the NFL is now all of a sudden caring about the players
00:11that they put on football fields each and every single Sunday.
00:15So they now have come out with these new rules.
00:18Let me read them right here.
00:19You can't do the hip drop tackle any longer.
00:23You can't do the horse collar, which has been in place for a while now.
00:27You can't do any of the stuff when it comes to blindside blocks.
00:34You can't any longer have hits on the quarterback again
00:39and detrimental hits on players, dangerous hits.
00:45And people will say, boy, look at what the National Football League is now doing
00:50to try to help protect players.
00:54Why do you think you institute rules like this?
00:58Points.
00:59They want more scoring.
01:01Tim Donaghy just said it.
01:03They want prop bets.
01:04The less contact you have in the sport, the more offense you create in the sport.
01:11The National Football League doesn't want 21-20 games.
01:15They want 35-31 games.
01:17Why?
01:18It keeps you engaged.
01:19You know, back in the day when the National Football League had a game on a Sunday
01:24that was a 31-7 game, most people would check out of those games.
01:28But because of fantasy football and because of all these fantasy leagues,
01:32why are you engaged on a Sunday with a 31-7 score where your team is being killed?
01:38Because you have a prop bet.
01:39You're hoping for your guy to get 100 yards, a touchdown, a touchdown in the fourth quarter,
01:44an extra yard, an extra catch.
01:49That's what sports is now in with these guys when it comes to prop bets,
01:53especially the National Football League.
01:55Folks, the National Football League is not here to protect the players.
01:58You want to add another game, and you want to play on Thursday.
02:03Hell, the National Football League would like to play 20 games.
02:06They've made it very clear Roger Goodell has said that.
02:0920 games?
02:11The National Football League does not care about the safety of the players whatsoever,
02:17and they never have.
02:18They're commodities.
02:20They're cattle.
02:22And rules like this are superficial.
02:25Rules like this are not there to protect the players.
02:29Rules like this are there to protect the cash register.
02:34There's a reason that the National Football League wants to have a European team
02:38or a team overseas somewhere.
02:40So they could start the calendar and the cash register earlier,
02:45and that time from 6 a.m. Pacific time all the way until midnight.
02:51Look at that cash register.
02:53I've said this before.
02:54Hey, God used to own Sundays.
02:56The National Football League owns Sundays now, especially when it comes to making money.
03:02Dude, these rules that have been instituted mean nothing.
03:06The hip drop tackle is one of the tackles that has been going on for over 100 years in that
03:12sport.
03:13It's a technique that many players have mastered.
03:17My daughter uses the hip drop tackle in rugby.
03:20It's been in place for over 100 years.
03:24Horse collar, I get it.
03:25That rule was put in place back in the 1980s.
03:29So when you're putting these rules out there, the league is not looking to protect its players.
03:35It's looking to go and make as much money as they can when it comes to prop bets and when
03:41it comes to sports gambling.
03:43The less rules, the more points.
03:46The more inability to be able to hit a quarterback or hit a wide receiver, this is where you're going
03:51to make your money.
03:52Look, back in the 1980s and 1990s, wide receivers didn't chirp.
03:56They would get their faces knocked off if they came across the line of scrimmage and started chirping the way
04:02they chirped.
04:03There was no such thing as diva wide receivers because somebody like Ronnie Lott would put you in the hospital.
04:09Now you've got these guys chirping because you know why?
04:12The league doesn't want you hitting these guys.
04:15They don't want you hitting the quarterback.
04:17The two most protected positions in pro football are what?
04:21Wide receiver and quarterback.
04:23And why are those two positions the most coveted positions in all of sports today?
04:28Because that's your moneymakers.
04:30There's three areas where the league makes money.
04:34Extra points and field goals, wide receivers and NFL.
04:39If you really wanted to change the kickoff rules in the NFL, don't change the actual kickoff of the game.
04:45Take the extra point away.
04:47Take the field goals away.
04:48What happens after every extra point and after every field goal?
04:54A commercial stop set.
04:57NFL makes on the extra point.
05:00The NFL makes with all of their games on a Sunday, Thursday, or Monday.
05:06They make as much as $7 million a game.
05:08In one respected stop set.
05:10Of course they want the extra point.
05:12It's all about the cash register.
05:14And these new rules that the league is putting in and that the NFL Players Association is now okay with.
05:21Remember, we have the weakest union, which I'm a member of, still to this day.
05:26In the history of American sports, that is the NFL Players Association.
05:31When's the last time that organization looked out for a guy who played in this sport for 20 years,
05:36who's now basically needing of medical care?
05:40Doesn't happen.
