00:00Alright, let's hit the skins. There's a lot going on. Obviously, the joint practice with the Ravens is scheduled for
00:10today.
00:12Huge opportunity for starters, especially Jaden Daniels, hopefully, to get in some good work.
00:18Will their new offensive linemen make it here on time?
00:21DJ?
00:21DJ, I don't know.
00:23I'm guessing he probably will.
00:24Probably. They signed offensive tackle DJ Humphreys.
00:28He is a former pro bowler. He's got 101 career starts. Signed him to a one-year deal for depth
00:34at tackle.
00:36Of course, the side story here, and it's just not going away, unfortunately, is the accumulation of injuries.
00:47I mean, currently, right now, you have anywhere between 14 to 16 guys that are expected to see meaningful playing
00:54time this season,
00:57that are banged up. Some lost for, presumably, the year.
01:02I mean, this is weird.
01:03I remember having B. Mitch in here, and you can never predict, but one thing, before camp started everything,
01:09he said, you know, one good thing is, when you get really, really banged up one year,
01:12usually the luck kind of turns around the next year.
01:15Well, so far, that hasn't worked out.
01:17I'd also like to point out, most of those injuries did not happen in preseason games.
01:23For all the people that are...
01:25No, they happen on the daily.
01:26I know.
01:26On the daily.
01:27I mean, Mariota's happened in the preseason game.
01:30Yeah.
01:31Yeah.
01:31But most of them just happen in camp.
01:34In practice.
01:34In practice.
01:35Well, no, that happens any time you partake in the game of football, even if it's non-contact.
01:40That's for sure.
01:41You just try to limit it.
01:43Well, I don't pay attention to all of the injuries from every team, but that seems...
01:4816 guys, that seems pretty high.
01:50It seems like a lot.
01:50And these are just guys...
01:51It's got to be near the top.
01:52By the way, these are just the ones we know about.
01:54Right.
01:54And these are just guys that...
01:56I mean, I think all these guys, at one point or another, you thought would be on the roster.
02:00So you've got Tunsil, obviously, out, but some people are saying maybe come back week 10, week 11.
02:04It's totally speculating.
02:06You have no idea with the torn triceps how that's going to repair itself, et cetera.
02:11I'm sure he'll do everything he can to get back as soon as possible, but there's just time.
02:16You have Johnny Newton, who's got the torn pec.
02:19He's going to be out a long time.
02:21Drake Jackson, you can't really rely on him.
02:23He's never really played here.
02:25He is placed on injury reserve.
02:27He's been injured for years.
02:28You've got Marcus Mariota.
02:29He's got the sprained MCL.
02:32He's actually still questionable for week one.
02:34I think that almost makes it a guarantee that AK is going to be on the opening roster.
02:38It may change week to week, but who knows?
02:41Rashad White, expected to have a significant role with this team.
02:45He's got a hamstring.
02:47Bill still has a lower body, the dreaded lower body issue.
02:51I assume that's a knee.
02:53Oh, it's a groin?
02:53That's what I've seen on Twitter.
02:55Well, that's lower body.
02:56Jeremy McNichols, he's got a quadriceps.
02:59I've seen some speculation that they may put him on the injury reserve with a targeted return,
03:05which would be the earliest he could come back, I think, or around that time would be around week six.
03:11Ben Sinnott's got an oblique.
03:13Trey Amos still with this ankle, and he's still recovering, remember, from his fibula injury.
03:19I'm not done.
03:20Kalevon, our highest paid free agent acquisition, is still dealing with a calf.
03:25Odafe Owe, we're expecting huge things from him.
03:29Kalevon Chason, I'm sorry, I struggle with that name.
03:32He's got a knee.
03:34Tim Settle, they brought him back, expecting him to be a big contributor.
03:38He's got a calf.
03:39Oh, I'm still not done.
03:40Nick Allegretti, who, you know, they basically turned over the center position to him.
03:45He's in and out, in and out.
03:47He's got a calf.
03:48Jordan McGee, at linebacker, he's got a shoulder.
03:52Our best blocking tight end, yeah, I'm still not done.
03:55John Bates, he's got a hamstring, in and out.
03:59And then Dietrich Wise, there's some speculation he may never come back.
04:02He's on the pup list with a quadriceps issue, who flashed at times in very limited work last year.
04:10So, it's a bevy of guys.
04:12It's starting to really, really mount up here.
04:17And when you go around and you look at sort of projections around this team's going to be,
04:23you know, basically the number in Vegas has been around seven and a half.
04:27The Athletic did a really good piece, actually, where they talk about,
04:35they go through and they go through win totals for every team.
04:39And just to give you an idea, give me one second here, I've got to pull it up.
04:43Just to give you an idea, they go through, like, the Ravens, for example.
04:47I think they have the Ravens projected at, like, ten point something wins.
04:54Let me see if I have it right in front of me.
04:55And they say that's just about right.
04:57The Browns, the Bengals, they say ten point three wins.
05:01That's too low.
05:02So, the Bears, they say projected wins.
05:04You know, this is all, like, you know, with the various books.
05:07The projected wins for the Bears, 9.6.
05:09They say that's about right.
05:11The Commanders, their projected number, 7.6.
05:15And kind of representing them in the article is Nikki, who works for the Athletic.
05:20And I think I heard J.P. Finley said she's a head of the Pro Football Writers Association, right?
05:25She's been around a long time.
05:27She knows what she's talking about.
05:30Unfortunately, now, she can't see the future.
05:32But unfortunately, she thinks that the 7.6 number is too high.
05:38She's not optimistic.
05:40It's just, it's scary.
05:41Do you want me to read the quote from Nikki?
05:43Maybe we should book her, Valdez, if we get a chance.
05:46I know they're super busy right now.
05:47But here's the quote from Nikki.
05:50It's amazing how one or two people can influence a season.
05:54Before losing Pro Bowl left tackle Laramie Tunsell, I would have pegged the Commanders as a potential 9 or 10
06:00win team.
06:01They've bolstered their receiving core with the addition of Stephon Diggs.
06:04They've invested heavily in their defensive line and changed their systems to create more balance on offense and become more
06:10multiple on defense.
06:11But this team will go where quarterback Jaden Daniels goes.
06:16And Daniels may not be able to go far behind this line.
06:20There's no plug-and-play replacement for one of the game's best pass-blocking tackles.
06:25Combined with the injury concerns of center Nick Allegretti, the up-and-down play of left guard Chris Paul,
06:29and the line's general lack of depth, Daniels could be running for pressure more than he's running the Commanders' new
06:36offense.
06:36So, in her opinion, right now, the 7.6 wins is too high.
06:44It's interesting if you go to...
06:46She didn't even mention the daunting schedule.
06:48Well, it's interesting if you go to the Our Lads website and they break down all the depth charts.
06:54And if you look at the Commanders, when a player is injured or out, he's always in red.
07:01So, if you look at the Commanders' depth chart, you've got a bunch of guys in red.
07:04You know, a handful of guys.
07:06You go to Philly, they've got one.
07:09Somehow they're staying healthy.
07:10I mean, I'm sure they've got some guys who are dinged up, but they've only got one guy in red.
07:16And that means he's out indefinitely.
07:19But the Commanders have multiple guys.
07:22I think about seven.
07:23From red to green in the next 10 days to two weeks.
07:27We've got approximately 15, 16 guys expected to all be parts of this team.
07:32Some of them very, very heavy contributors, like Adafi Owe.
07:37Banged up.
07:37Doesn't mean he's going to miss games.
07:39But currently banged up.
07:40Missing time.
07:41You know, significant time here over the last couple weeks.
07:45And it's affecting the way people perceive this season could potentially go.
07:51I know we're going to do the blitz here coming up.
07:53Maybe in the 8 o'clock hour.
07:55Just kind of prime yourself for this.
07:58Let's bang out some calls from people.
08:00Give us some reasons for optimism.
08:02Because there are reasons.
08:04I think number one is a healthy Jaden Daniels.
08:07Yeah, that's the biggest reason.
08:08That's the primary reason, number one.
08:10I mean, it's a dark time right now, I think, for those of us that are Skins fans.
08:15Well, Nicky brings up a great point.
08:16I think that's overstating it to say it's a dark time.
08:19Because outside of Tunsil, almost all those guys that you named, and it's Tun, could be ready for week one.
08:28I think so.
08:29That's true.
08:30But still, the Vegas number before the injuries is basically 7.5.
08:35So the perception, so it's a dark time.
08:37If you're expected to win 7.5, and you've got 60 guys all expected to play, who are all nursing
08:42various levels of injury, I think it's a dark time.
08:47And you throw in that schedule, it's hard to be optimistic right now.
08:51I think a dark time would be if those guys were out.
08:53Well, it could get darker.
08:55And outside of Tunsil, none of them are out.
08:57It could be dark.
08:58It doesn't mean you can't win.
08:59No, Johnny Newton's out.
09:00There are other guys that are out.
09:01And the 7.5 games.
09:02Trey Amos probably isn't going to play.
09:04He's probably out.
09:04It is, by the way, an improvement from last year.
09:07Yeah, but that's not going to make anyone happy.
09:08Last year was dark.
09:10They finished with five wins.
09:11Right, but JP, if they win seven games, it'd be a long year.
09:14It'd be very disappointing, sure.
09:15How could it be disappointing?
09:16I mean, it's disappointing, but it probably shouldn't be disappointing.
09:19It's the expectation.
09:22You can't ignore what sort of the expectation is around the league.
09:27Now, that doesn't mean anything.
09:28You can always shock people.
09:30Could they win 10 games?
09:31Of course they could.
09:32They've got Jaden Daniels.
09:33He's unreal.
09:34But the expectation is 7.5.
09:37And from the leader of the pro, whatever her title is.
09:41Nikki brings up a great point about the offensive line.
09:45Because Jaden Daniels, okay, he's going to get hit behind a suspect offensive line.
09:51He is.
09:52And if Allegretti's not healthy and ready to go in Philadelphia in week one,
09:57that's going to be big trouble.
09:59It just is.

10:05Keep it here.
