U.S. stock futures advanced on Tuesday, as the Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 indices rose, following Monday’s mixed close.

Meanwhile, Iran vowed retaliation after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent expanded sanctions to sever Tehran’s economic lifelines, warning that “no one is above the reach of U.S. sanctions.” The escalating geopolitical friction and threats to Gulf energy chokepoints come as oil prices attempt to stabilize following a steep decline.

Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.71%, and the two-year bond was at 4.24%. The CME Group’s FedWatch tool projections show markets pricing a 42.1% likelihood of the Federal Reserve hiking the current interest rates during its September meeting.

The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE: SPY) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ: QQQ), which track the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100, respectively, were higher in premarket on Tuesday. The SPY was up 0.48% at $767.12, while the QQQ advanced by 0.96% to $713.07.
