00:13The inner workings of spiral galaxies are of great import to astronomers. After all, the Milky Way where we live

00:19These images were all captured as part of the Physics at Higher Angular Resolution in Nearby Galaxies project.
00:25The study is actually looking at 90 such galaxies, hoping to get a better idea of how they change and
00:31evolve over time.
00:32And according to Project Scientist for Strategic Initiatives at the Space Telescope Science Institute, Janice Lee, quote,
00:38They're mind-blowing, even for researchers who have studied these same galaxies for decades.
00:42That's because these are the highest resolution images of spiral galaxies ever captured,
00:47showing what Lee says reveals bubbles and filaments like never before.
00:51Researchers say these photos tell a story about the formation and life cycles of the galaxies,
00:57revealing wild and diverse patterns of stars clustered in different ways.
