00:00A success is how the Minister of Justice describes the ongoing state of emergency, which is set to expire on
00:08September 17th.
00:10We have to analyze the data. The SOE has been a success. The murder rate and serious crime rate is
00:18down by police statistics.
00:22We are hoping that when that reaches the Prime Minister, the National Security Council and so on, we will have
00:30to deliberate on it.
00:31So it will be premature of me at this stage to see what will happen at this stage.
00:35His comments come mere hours after four men were killed in separate incidents.
00:40Police in the Southwestern Division are now on the hunt for three men of Hispanic descent after two men were
00:46beaten to death in Fisabad on Friday.
00:49While police are also searching for the perpetrators of a double murder in Arema, which took place in the wee
00:57hours of Saturday morning.
00:58I think one of the things that the media needs to do when they're talking about murders is to check
01:04the sea or to differentiate between what is attractive to society in terms of gang warfare and what is domestic
01:14and what is persons going there and having some relationship and a lot of different things.
01:19There are some things that the police can deal with coming from law enforcement and there are some things that
01:23will be hidden behind the closet.
01:25You see? So once you separate these two, so the question must be asked, how much of those were domestic?
01:31How much of those were gang warfare?
01:34And that's how probably you could start to understand if something is easing up. You see? Because persons just seize
01:40the opportunity to say, well, murder is murder. But I can't know what's happening in your bedroom at night.
01:44The murder toll now stands at 235, while the toll, as at August 21st last year, was 240.
01:55Meantime, with several bomb threats reported on Wednesday, the Homeland Security Minister is hailing the support of international intelligence agencies
02:04in local crime fighting.
02:06The police are doing a remarkable job. And you know what this is? I will let you know another secret.
02:11This is only for you. It's a secret, right? So I'll tell you. You know, it is so important for
02:18us to have intelligence agencies supported by our colleagues from the outside. Very, very important. And we applaud that.
