00:01DAP MP Teresa Koh has hit out at past President Abdul Hadi Awang over his claim that DAP glorifies the
00:08Malayan Communist Party.
00:10Hadi had claimed that DAP glorified the Communist Party's struggle against the Japanese during World War II.
00:16The Marang MP also said the party was once supported by the British in fighting the Japanese,
00:21but was later banned and caused the deaths of many Malay soldiers and police officers during the emergency.
00:27Hadi also claimed that the proposed Urban Renewal Act was a strategy by Nga Kor Ming's Housing and Local Government
00:34Ministry
00:35to drive poor Malays out of urban areas under the guise of redevelopment.
00:40Speaking to FMT after a flag handout initiative in Bukit Jalil, Koh described Hadi's remarks as discriminatory, racist, and unfounded.
00:49The Sepute MP questioned why DAP would glorify a party that did not assist it,
00:54stressing that DAP stood for the Democratic Action Party.
00:59Koh said she did not know whether Hadi's remarks were aimed at helping pass gain more votes in the next
01:04general election.
01:05However, she warned that such statements would only divide Malaysia further and draw more resistance.
01:12Koh had earlier joined representatives of residence groups in distributing the Jalo Gemilang to shopkeepers and passers-by in Bukit
01:19Jalil.
01:19She also urged government agencies, especially those close to the public, to keep a ready stock of flags for communities,
01:26saying they could sometimes be hard to find in stores.
