Cancer patient confronts Reform UK's Laila Cunningham live on radio over benefits reforms
Transcript
00:00I do not agree with getting rid of Pip. I am a cancer patient. I work part-time.
00:06Motastic breast cancer, Pell B2 gene carrier. Unfair dismissal protection goes, I'm out of a
00:12job. I'm out of my home. I'm 57 years old. I've got a palliative care husband, 15 different
00:21disabilities. He worked for HMR, CHM government, kicked out 10 years ago. Get rid of his Pip.
00:27No trips to hospital. He's got liver failure. He's blind. He's epileptic. I can't even get
00:34a cancer property despite having the over-allotted ones. I'm not checking out, am I supposed to
00:39vote for reform? I'm checking out, what's reform going to do for me? Nothing.
00:45Elizabeth, I hear you. I hear you. And we generally care about the people in vulnerable
00:49positions like you. It's why we got into politics. And it's not about cutting benefits from people
00:55who actually need it. It's about telling those who could work that they should work to protect
01:00exactly the benefits for the vulnerable that need it. And I'm so sorry that you're dealing
01:04with cancer. It's a very tough time. And you're in Haringey. I'll come and see you, Elizabeth.
01:10I'd love to.
