2K drug dependents get help from Catholic faith based recovery program

More than 2,000 Filipinos struggling with drug dependence receive assistance from a Catholic faith-based recovery program launched during the Duterte regime’s campaign against illegal drugs. Surrender to God (SuGod) started in 2016 marked its 10th anniversary by bringing together people who completed its recovery program. Archbishop Emeritus Jose Palma, who served as Cebu archbishop when SuGod started and gave the program his approval, celebrated Mass during the anniversary gathering on Aug. 15, 2026.
