00:06entrenched and knew as much about that rivalry which is one of the premier ones in college
00:10football as anybody says he doesn't hate Ohio State you know and he's like this hating Ohio
00:15State will that help me win I mean like it's a great conversation it's a great point he's like
00:20we do the the you know the drills we have the periods we do the finishers with all that we

00:26all this stuff that like they're omnipresent and then Bryce Underwood came out and said it's just
00:31another game a team in a different uniform which to me what Whittingham said and Bryce Underwood said
00:37those are those are far different scenarios lift it or leave it like which one of those you think
00:44hits harder for the Michigan fan base well I it's not just another game so Bryce Underwood's way off
00:51base I I understand what Kyle Whittingham's trying to say but there's a better way to say it you know
00:57what I mean like you say we think you could answer that question so many different ways and I was
01:02thinking about that because each going through like each Michigan coach for each Ohio State coach in the
01:08last 25 years I think the Buckeyes coaches know exactly how to handle this you know and that started
01:13with Jim Trestle once he stepped into the arena and St. John's arena and and said what he said and
01:19really helped turn the nature of this rivalry all together Urban obviously militant in his approach
01:24uh Trestle was good because he would never he obviously said and did the right things but he
01:31never I don't think Bob I can't remember him putting bulletin board material through that streak of wins
01:37I can't remember him saying something that like inflamed the rivalry he just went about the business maybe
01:42you have an example uh where he did and then Ryan Days handled it through the ups and downs of
01:48it very well
01:48so you know I think Kyle what I don't understand is he is a coach that coached in BYU Utah
01:55so he does
01:56understand a rivalry that has plenty of uh you know hate behind it so to speak sports hate of course
02:02and
02:03maybe a little more than that in that game actually but so I mean he's gonna find out and you
02:09know you
02:09are defined at these schools by which I mean I know what almost every coach coach's record is in the
02:15rivalry since Woody and Bo you you just maybe not Bo's Bo's Bo's had a lot of games I'd have
02:21to go
02:21back and look at his record but you these coaches know what they are and these schools know what they
02:25are but uh uh it defines your legacy in a lot of ways and I am surprised that is it
02:32a big deal
02:33not unless they lose you know what I mean but if they lose that's coming that's gonna come right
02:39back up right just another game those kind of things yeah you know I'm lifting on that of course
02:45Kyle Whittingham I feel like he has a little more grace just because like he's a sensational coach he
02:49was awesome over at Utah but Bryce Underwood that's I saw a lot of people come after Kyle McCord
02:55because he said sort of the same thing in the locker room of one of our losses and it was

03:00completely different situation so I don't like how people kind of misinterpreted that but yeah what
03:05he's saying now if they end up losing that game that's going to come back to Biden bad and especially
03:09like a second year quarterback with struggles last year I know he's not putting the game down but
03:14trying to compare it to the other 11 games throughout the regular season that's just not what it is so
03:18I don't like the fact that he doesn't really understood the deep entrenched passion and history
03:23that goes be like with this game I think that's probably what trust did the best job of Bill is
03:29understanding the passion for it but not letting the passion dominate you um the urban was a little
03:36more aggressive and the falling on the field and a little more animated with everything I talked to
03:41Tress about that I go how did you never he was so benign on the sideline with his emotion and
03:47he goes
03:48you have to look like it was the coach of Ohio State he goes your face has to be painted
03:52with confidence
03:53and it's one of the great lines it's like everything that happens whether you wanted it to or not
03:57has to look like it was preordained so he uh he was really good at that
