00:00Good evening, you're watching India First. I'm Gaurav Savan.
00:04Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stirred a hornet's nest
00:07blaming the Congress Party for the partition of India in 1947, 80 years ago.
00:15He said, had Narendra Modi been the Prime Minister of India at the time of independence,
00:20or somebody like Sardar Wallabhai Patel at the helm of affairs,
00:25there wouldn't have been this damage to the nation.
00:28He also said if a person like Sardar Patel had been the Prime Minister
00:31at the time of independence in 1947, nobody would have been able to disintegrate India.
00:37Taking on the Congress Party on the issue of partition in 1947,
00:42Yogi Adityanath said Congress was truly responsible for the partition and the subsequent massacre.
00:49He went on to say, had Narendra Modi been the Prime Minister at the time of independence,
00:54nobody would have been able to damage India in the least.
00:57He then drew a parallel with the anti-CAA, Citizenship Amendment Act protests in the country,
01:06saying India had to pay a heavy price for what he termed was cowardice of the Congress Party members,
01:13a character that the nation witnessed during CEA protests.
01:16Cowardice, he claimed, cost the country in terms of loss of territory and people.
01:22Going back to 1947, he indicated that Sindh had been a Hindu-dominated and Sindhi-dominated area,
01:30it was handed over to Pakistan.
01:33Punjabi-dominated Punjab was also partitioned and Hindu-dominated areas were handed over to Pakistan.
01:39Ahead of elections in the state, battle lines are very clearly drawn and we get to details.
01:46Also coming up on India First, on Independence Day Eve, will India be free from pressures of foreign-made weapons?
01:56Look at the wars that are being fought in Europe and in West Asia.
02:01Both Ukraine and Iran are taking on the world's biggest two superpowers, the United States and Russia.
02:07And they're still continuing to fight.
02:11What are lessons for India, especially on the front of being Atmanirbhar, or self-reliant in defence manufacturing?
02:20We get to details at 8.30pm tonight.
02:24But first, we begin India First with an India Today exclusive,
02:28an interview with Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju.
02:33The Parliamentary Affairs Minister rejected allegations of excessive use of force by the police
02:39against students during the July 20 protests in the national capital.
02:44Kiran Rijiju said there were no widespread injuries and dismissed claims that protesters
02:49were subjected to indiscriminate pellet firing.
02:53He also defended the Delhi Police, saying they handled the protests effectively.
02:58The Parliamentary Affairs Minister hit out not just at the Congress Party,
03:02but also at Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi,
03:06accusing him and the Congress of running away from a debate in Parliament.
03:12Kiran Rijiju addressed the Congress's controversial skit, as he put it,
03:18in which Sandeep Deekshit was heard making what is being described as sexist remarks
03:24about the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni,
03:28while he and Rahul Gandhi were targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hag Plomissi.
03:34He spoke exclusively to India Today's Maria Shakil.
03:37Listen in.
03:43If opposition wants discussion on certain important issues, which also includes
03:49Chandachori in Ayodhya, there is a need for the press, then why don't you have to be prepared for the
03:55discussion?
03:56And one thing is clear, that there will be one press.
04:02So we have discussed that the need paper, the need paper, the leak has become very warm and warm.
04:11So we have prepared for it, we have said that we will do the press.
04:16They say that the government doesn't want to listen to it.
04:19Just tell us that the fire is going on.
04:22I don't know if the ball is running, then where is the question of the ball?
04:28I would like to talk to you about a lot of senior journalists.
04:34You are a lot of mature.
04:36You can understand that if the ball is running,
04:42then the blood is poor.
04:44In the country, there are so many dangers.
04:45There are so many dangers.
04:51There are so many dangers.
04:53But the pellet guns...
04:54But listen, there is no resignation.
04:58Our teacher has also given us.
05:01I don't know about the pellet guns.
05:03I don't know about the details.
05:05I will tell you about the grey gun.
05:07But I will tell you a common thing,
05:11which every person understands.
05:25There were three people who came on record, sir.
05:28There are two of them who have petitioned in the Supreme Court also.
05:31There will be a petition in the Supreme Court.
05:33We don't have to say anything.
05:36I only have to say that in Kashmir,
05:39there were pellet guns in the time of the Congress.
05:42In some places, there was pellet guns in the time of the Congress.
05:47There was a pellet gun from the mouth.
05:50Like I said,
05:51there are 4-5,000 people who are protesting.
05:55So the pellet guns are going on.
05:56So how many people will get hurt?
05:58But sir, there were...
05:59300-400 people will get hurt.
06:01But there were a number of them whose injuries have been reported.
06:04They have also come on record to talk about their injuries.
06:07Please.
06:07Please.
06:08Please.
06:21Please.
06:21Please.
06:22The police have done very professionally.
06:31Why do you know the police have managed to arrest them for this?
06:38But did you sense that during the course of this monsoon session that what you had hoped was a divided
06:46opposition? Because of the crackdown which happened against protesting students on 20th July, everything changed.
06:54See, Maria, again I am telling you, the protest in Jantar Mantar, although many people know it is illegal protest,
07:02but we did not do anything. The court had said that protest in Jantar Mantar is not allowed. But despite
07:08that, they went on protest. Did any force was used? No.
07:15So, that is when they marched towards parliament. You have to clearly demarket the level of tolerance where police had
07:24to break it to use force. That is only when they marched towards the parliament.
07:29So, the whole country has to know, as long as the protest is peaceful, not a single force or any
07:38coercion was used. They were protesting. Does it mean that they will be allowed freely to march into the parliament?
07:46You tell me, how will you prevent the march of those people, where some of them are from the background
07:57we know, the antisocial elements, and many of them are party workers, genuine students.
08:05We want to hear them out. Genuine students are always right. But then, who are there in the protest? It
08:14is the Communist Party.
08:21If they are following a particular ideology, how are they not students?
08:35This one group called Bheem Army, Samajwadi, Aam Admi, they were there throughout the education. Students were there, but students
08:47were much lesser in the numbers.
08:51And Congress, yes, I can say that Congress did not take part in the protest. Congress leaders did visit, but
08:59Congress leaders didn't take part in the protest, student protest.
09:02But in the name of student protest, who all were there, misusing the students, misguiding them, and also taking opportunity
09:12and they tried to take the lead and, you know, they tried to encourage the students.
09:18What Rahul Gandhi said here, that he wanted a statement from Hominis Karmic Shah?
09:25He's the leader of opposition, sir.
09:52He's the leader of opposition, sir.
09:52So, so it got stuck between the treasury benches and opposition on a particular rule?
09:58No, it's stuck. Congress party doesn't believe it. We're stuck, right? We'll discuss it. We'll do it.
10:04But, sir, Home Minister Amit Shah, as the Congress is saying, and he offered on 12th that he will sit
10:10from that day at 3 p.m.
10:12Next day.
10:13Home Minister has offered it.
10:16I have told that we're ready for the church.
10:19I've also told that, in the federal government, in the department of business advisory, I've also told the committee that
10:25the education of students is ready for the church.
10:29I am ready for the home minister after this, he wrote the letter to the speaker and he gave the
10:35time that he doesn't know.
10:38I have told the government that we are ready for the discussion.
10:42We need to be ready for the whole church.
10:45We need to talk about one or two minutes.
10:48We need to listen to the country.
10:50We need to be aware of the country.
10:52We are the government.
10:53We are the government.
10:55We need to be aware of the people.
10:58We don't have to be aware of the church.
11:00This is the problem with Rahul Gandhi.
11:04The MPs of Congress say that the church was very good.
11:09There are many MPs who don't do that.
11:14Some people do it.
11:17But Mr. Dididoo when the BJP was in opposition,
11:21protests in parliament, disruption was seen as legitimate.
11:25Protest is legitimate.
11:26Who is saying there cannot be any protest?
11:29You protest to seek government's attention or government's response.
11:34Here government itself is coming out and saying that we are ready to discuss.
11:38We are offering a discussion.
11:41So where is the question of protest?
11:42Maria, you have to understand one thing.
11:45In this country, anybody can protest anywhere.
11:49This is their democratic right.
11:50Every Indian has absolute right to protest against the government or against anybody.
11:56But parliament is a place where few MPs have the privilege to speak.
12:01If parliament is also used as a battleground for protest only, then where will you speak?
12:09The privilege which the MPs have received from the constitution
12:13has been demolished by this irresponsible behaviour of the Congress party.
12:19What we have seen over the last few days on social media,
12:21a lot of people from Arunachal Pradesh have put out videos
12:24and even Rahul Gandhi has now raised it.
12:26And his words are, and I am quoting you him.
12:29In Arunachal Pradesh, in many places,
12:31the Chinese has stopped our sena to patrol.
12:35This is a very violent crime.
12:38Rahul Ji has no knowledge about history.
12:44Because Arunachal Pradesh, whose name was Nefa,
12:48do you know?
12:49I will take you two minutes of time to explain it.
12:51In Arunachal Pradesh in Arunachal Pradesh,
12:54the Tawang sector,
12:56was linked to Bhairat in 1951 in 1951.
13:03In 1951, they were given texts to Tibet.
13:08In 1959, Dalila Ma Ji left Tibet.
13:12And when the Chinese Prime Minister Chao Inlai came here,
13:16they said that they were saying that these things
13:19that you call Nefa,
13:20from the Mac Mohan line,
13:22that it's your body.
13:24This is India's body.
13:25You keep it.
13:28China has not said that.
13:30In that moment, Arunachal's name was Nefa.
13:32So this is your body.
13:34They never claimed the Chinese.
13:39It's your territory.
13:40I said that we can't claim the China for China.
13:41Or um,
13:44we don't say Nefa,
13:45let's say Nefa,
13:47we don't say something.
13:48But you can't say Nefa.
14:00It's your territory.
14:01The influence of Nefa is your territory.
14:04So slowly, China claimed to be claimed first and then Arunachal. In 1972, the name of Arunachal was the name
14:14of Arunachal. Then in 1987, it became a full-fledged state.
14:17So Arunachal was the name of Arunachal, which was located in 1959. In 1962, there was no additional occupation. In
14:401959, it was occupied by the Assam Rifle.
14:43We were killed. We didn't have a route. We didn't have a maintenance. We didn't have a maintenance.
14:51Later, the Assam Rifle was the ITBP. There is an Indian army, but there is an ITBP in the front.
14:59In that time, the Defense Minister A.K. Anthoni said that in Arunachal and China's border area,
15:10we didn't have a maintenance. We thought that there should not be a development.
15:16What is the policy of China's border? We will talk about the details in detail.
15:22But whatever place was occupied in 1959 or 1962.
15:28No place was not gone.
15:29The new thing we're talking about is this.
15:32Because we didn't have a road.
15:34The government didn't have a policy of the policy.
15:36So we did not have the Mail to the leave.
15:49What do we have from the hospital as well?
15:56When we remain indoors
15:57But we didn't really make a flare
16:06The reason is that in which place we had to do grazing, we couldn't go there.
16:13China has been established and built a post.
16:16That is true.
16:18The whole area has been occupied by China.
16:20India has not built a road.
16:23There was no activity in India.
16:26The roads and infrastructure of Indian government have been done in 2014-15.
16:31After that, we are planning it.
16:33The place of Taksing was connected in 2019.
16:37Think about it.
16:38It was in 1947-1947.
16:41The road of Taksing was connected in 2019-1919.
16:46Look here at Gunji.
16:48It was connected in 2019-1919.
16:50When our road was not there,
16:53China has built a road and they have occupied many places.
16:56That's why our concerns are true.
16:58But don't talk about Google Maps.
17:03Google Maps will put a yellow line or a white line
17:08and put it on the border.
17:10It doesn't know.
17:11Some of us don't know about it.
17:14I don't blame it.
17:15It doesn't know it.
17:16Google Maps says that this is the Indian territory.
17:19The place where China has built a house,
17:22built a village, built a building,
17:24was taken in 1959.
17:25Well, what?
17:26And, in Beal,
17:26all of us have picked this base right on the 19th ос basichnOLL.
17:41On the eve of the 80th Independence Day,
17:43Utahra Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
17:45launched a frontal attack on the congress blaming the party for its desperation for power as he put
17:51it for partition in 1947 and the massacre that followed he blamed the congress saying hindu
17:57dominated areas were ceded to pakistan because the congress in his appreciation was restless for
18:02power whether it was sindh or panjab in the west of bengal in the east he said and i quote
18:08bengal
18:08was bengali dominated hindu villages were forcibly given to bangladesh this shameful act was
18:15committed by the congress which was in his view extra restless for power and on whom the country
18:22had reposed its trust it repaid that trust with betrayal yogi adityanath was speaking at an event
18:28to mark the partition of india as a black day yogi adityanath said the congress was silent when
18:35hindus were attacked in bangladesh they feared that reacting to the events in bangladesh may cause
18:41their vote bank to drift away to them the murder of dalit hindus holds no significance he said
18:48what matters to them is their vote bank yogi adityanath blamed the congress for fueling
18:53the citizenship amendment act unrest blaming it on their minority appeasement politics he reiterated
19:00his off-repeated line each time hindus are divided they suffer or words to the effect
19:06he said words to the effect india was repeatedly enslaved for two reasons the first mutual differences
19:15and conflicts divisions of caste region and language when there are differences and conflicts another
19:23thing easily takes hold alongside them which is conspiracy conspirators succeed in conspiring
19:29within india and this resulted in slavery listen in

23:35so yogi aditana describes partition as one of the darkest chapters in the history of
23:40world humanity when crores of hindus were displaced from their birthplace
23:44and lacks of hindus buddhists sikhs and jains were massacred he said the day
23:50inspires us to learn from the dark chapters of history how did the problem arise who was
23:56responsible how many culprits have actually been punished and ultimately how long will
24:01india continue to pay a price for this the timing and the content of his comments ahead
24:06of uttar pradesh elections have evoked a strong response let's drive straight into this debate
24:12joining me on india first anila singh spokesperson bjp dolly sharma represents the congress party of
24:18this broadcast adweta kala joins us as an author and political analyst welcome dolly sharma how would
24:25you respond to the up chief minister saying partition the killings and displacement of millions of people
24:31was caused because the congress was extra restless to grab power hindu majority areas were ceded to pakistan
24:40both in the west and the east and that politics of appeals appeasement in his view continues till date ma
24:47'am
24:47see gaurav i would like to say that let us not turn the horrors of part a partition into a
24:54political weapon
24:55because partition was one of the darkest tragedies in our history and the millions of indians hinduism
25:01muslim sikhs paid the great price but blaming the congress alone is not history it's a political convenience
25:08before the bjp lectures the country about political you know associations in 1947 let them answer their own
25:16ideological history the hindu mahasabha whose prominent leaders included shama prasad mukharji and vd savarkar
25:23did enter coalition governments with the muslim league in provinces including sin the northwest frontier
25:28province so if yogi adityanath wants today to discuss 1947 let us discuss the complete history not selective
25:36history now and please spare us the fantasy of if narenda modiji being the prime minister in 1947
25:45modiji wasn't there and yogi ji adityanath ji as a chief minister today of uttar pradesh deserve answers
25:52on 2026 because you know it's not imaginary answers about 1947 it's a big history when they used to tell
26:01the hindu boys and boys to join the british army they had huge history who did what so blaming the
26:11congress
26:11party is always you know that their easiest thing to do they are not able to answer today what they
26:18are
26:18doing today to the students of this country to the youth of this country they were not able to provide
26:23the job they are not able to fulfill the promises they made you know even after 13 million years of
26:28government so now again you know when when they are not able to deliver they divert this is what they're
26:34doing now diversionary tactics you say anila singh respond how is what happened in 1947 relevant in 2026
26:41yes partition was painful yes it was unfair but why blame the congress party today for what happened 80
26:47years ago congress says this is diversionary tactics from failures of today
26:53my rabbi when congress party says that bharat got its swatantrita independence because of us so they have to
27:02bare the wounds of the partition as well as we all celebrate 15th august as a independence day but 14th
27:10august we observe as the day of horror of partition so we know very well we have read in our
27:18history
27:19Now, more elaborately, because Congress Party had tried each and every tactic to hide the
27:25real history from the students.
27:29But the thing is, when homes were burned, families were slaughtered, trains arrived
27:33at stations carrying corpses instead of passengers, women were abducted, they were raped, brutalized,
27:39children were separated from their parents, nearly two crores of people were uprooted
27:45in one of the largest post-migrations in modern human history.
27:52That is true, but how is Congress of today responsible for that, ma'am?
27:57Sorry?
27:57How is Congress of today responsible for that?
28:00You know, Dolly Sharma says, talk about issues of today in the run-up to elections.
28:05But let me bring in Advaita Kala for her opening comments.
28:08No, no, no, the historical record cannot be visually like that.
28:11Advaita Kala, I'll come back to you for this.
28:12Because Advaita, is this an attempt, as the Congress puts it, to divert attention from
28:17issues that the opposition wants to corner the government on?
28:21You know, whether it's where are the jobs, what are you doing for youth, a big issue that
28:27the opposition repeatedly raises is the theft of donation from the Maryadhapur Shottam
28:32Shriram temple.
28:35No, I think today is Partition Remembrance Day of the horrors that took place on that
28:40occasion, which was really the forced migration of one of the largest number of people anywhere
28:45in the world at any time in human history, and at grave personal and bodily cost for people,
28:53not to forget land and things of that nature that were lost.
28:56I think it's a relevant discussion.
28:58I think it's important that we do engage with these topics, because we are free so
29:04many years after independence to ask the question that was it political ambition which led to
29:10the partition of this country and the horrors that followed after.
29:14And there is a cogent argument to be made for that.
29:17Most importantly, I think if you look at the sequence of events of that era, you will see
29:22that there was something called the Cabinet Mission, which was suggested and which was
29:26even accepted by Jinnah.
29:28And subsequently, right before the Constituent Assembly debates were to take place, Pandit
29:34Jawaharlal Nehru, in a press conference in, I think it was June or July of 1946, said that
29:39they would be, to use the term, and I quote, unfettered by any such agreements.
29:45The moment he said that, Jinnah subsequently called for direct action, and the rest followed.
29:51So, I think these are historical facts, and they must be viewed in the context of those
29:57times, because the horrors were so great that without studying them, we are very well capable
30:03of repeating them.
30:04Okay, you have to learn from history, or you're condemned to repeating past mistakes, Dolly Sharma.
30:10BJP is also accusing the Congress of what it terms is a Muslim appeasement mindset in 1947,
30:18that it continues to display even today.
30:21Case in point, Yogi Adityanath says, the opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act, it had nothing
30:27to do with Indian Muslims losing their citizenship, but that was the fake narrative that was created
30:33only to fearmonger amongst the minority community, madam.
30:38No, Gaurav ji, I think partition was a collective national tragedy. You cannot convert a complicated
30:44historical process into a one-party charge sheet, you know. There is a very, very clear,
30:50you know, statements in the history that we all have seen that, you know, V.D. Savarkar
30:56always have spoken about Hindu, Hindu, Hindu, right? And they had, they were taking pensions from the
31:02British Raj. They were asking Hindu boys to go and join the British army. Even then,
31:08Jinnah was asking something that he wanted to stay all together. It was Congress who wanted everybody
31:15to come together. Gandhiji has spoken several times about it, and he was shot dead, you know,
31:21because of this. Only thing. But that was after partition, ma'am.
31:24Who was behind... January, January 1948, 15th August, we became independent. 14th was
31:30when Pakistan, sadly, you know, became a separate entity in terms of India being partitioned.
31:41Yeah, but that's what I'm saying that, you know, it was a disaster. Gandhi ji never wanted this.
31:48He was shot dead. And who assassinated, like, who murdered, you all know, everybody in the country
31:55knows. And who praised the murderer, that also everybody knows. How would you respond to the
32:00charge of Muslim appeasement politics and Citizenship Amendment Act and fear-mongering?
32:06See, Britishers wanted divided rule because they were not able to control India united. So,
32:12they started divided and rule. And who helped them do that? It was VD Savarkar helped them. It was
32:19Shama Prasad Mukherjee when they aligned to form government. They were in power with Muslim League.
32:26Okay. And you want to respond to this? You want to respond to this?
32:30First of all, first of all, a political party, which was handmade by Britishers, they should,
32:35Dolly Sharma, I did not interject. So, please have some decency. A political party, which was constructed,
32:42made, manufactured by Britishers, they are trying to tell what is wrong and what is right. We very
32:47well know why Congress party was manufactured by Britishers. And let us not go deep into it, Dolly
32:54Sharma Ji, the topmost leadership of the Congress of that time, never wanted, never wanted partition.
33:01Then what was the haste? Why Jawaharlal Nehru and his whole tolly just bhaas said,
33:08okay, we are going to have a partition because Nehru Ji wanted, Chacha Nehru wanted to be the
33:12Prime Minister of this great country, though he just got two votes. The country and the Congress
33:18wanted Vallabhai to be the PM, but Chacha Nehru said, no, of course not, because Britishers are
33:24behind me. I am going to be the leader. So, I just have to say one thing here, Gaurav Ji,
33:31that
33:33what was the reason, and Congress has to answer that, that Lord Mountbatten accelerated the transfer
33:38of power to August 1947. What was the reason behind that? Why such a haste decision?
33:44So, from 1947, I wanted to jump to 2020 because Yogi Adityanath also raised the point. And Anila Singh,
33:51if you could briefly touch upon the charge being leveled by Yogi Adityanath of CAA protests, that
34:00deliberate fear mongering was done to put the fear that Muslims of India will lose their citizenship,
34:07even though CAA had nothing to do with Indian Muslims. It was only for minorities in the region
34:12to get, and which, you know, which are Hindu minorities, Sikh minorities, Buddhists, Jains,
34:18and even Christians, they should get citizenship of India faster because they were being persecuted
34:23in India's neighbourhood, whether it's Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan. Respond, ma'am.
34:28All right. Just give me 20-30 seconds.
34:30No, this is for Dolly Sharma. Quickly, let me get her response so that we can keep the ball rotating.
34:35Go on.
34:35Yeah. I'm just saying that, you know, by what Anila Singh Ji has quoted,
34:41I mean, they talk about Sardar Patel. He was a part of Congress. They talk about Subharsh Chandra Bose.
34:46He also was a part of Congress Party. So, who they pray today and who they make statues of,
34:52so they are against them also, no? Because they were very much a part of Congress Party. So,
34:56every time blaming Nehru will not solve their problem, you know. Every time, for everything,
35:02they blame Nehru Ji. I think Nehru gave this country. Nehru gave what they are selling today.
35:08And blaming Nehru for everything when he's not, you know, here today to present his case.
35:14I think BJP has only this because they do not have any answers.
35:17You say that, you know, the BJP uses Pandya Jawaharlal Nehru as a very convenient punching bag.
35:22What the youth is facing today, what the farmers are facing today,
35:25you see how Adivasis are protesting in the entire country. Okay.
35:30How the, you know, the minorities are being suppressed. Okay.
35:33But my question was on minority fear-mongering, but let me bring in Anila Singh.
35:38When I talk about youth, it means every caste, every religion, everybody is suffering.
35:43Okay. Anila Singh, why is the Congress,
35:45why is the Congress being blamed for whatever may happen when it comes to CA-related unrest in the country?
35:52Because the Congress in 2020 was neither in power in Uttar Pradesh nor at the center.
35:58The responsibility has to be taken by the government in power.
36:01In UP it is Yogi, Adityanath. In Delhi, it's a BJP government. Why blame the Congress?
36:07All right. See, why CA was brought?
36:10And why Congress party and all the halal Hindu leaders of the opposition, they started crying?
36:17It was not doing anything wrong with any genuine person. It was for all those people who are living
36:25in other countries, other neighboring countries of ours, neighboring countries of ours. If they want to
36:32come to India, they will be given the opportunity, except Muslims. Because our nation was created,
36:39Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a whole lot of plot was given to them. Almost 9 lakh square kilometer of
36:48plot was given to them to get settled. So, they would have gone there.
36:52So, what is this term that we would have done? No, Pakistan should give them place.
36:54What is halal Hindu?
36:55If you want to come, you can live in our country.
36:57What does the BJP mean by halal Hindu? What is halal Hindu, Adityanath?
37:01I'll tell you, even when partition happened, Pakistan became the country of halals, those who follow halal.
37:09Okay? And what happened here? The reigns of our country came in the hands of halal Hindu,
37:15Jawaharlal Nehru, and other leaders like him. Those who want to appease Muslims,
37:20those who want to make themselves provide...
37:23Dawrii Shah wants to quickly respond to that, and she's strongly objecting.
37:28...and that is the reason...
37:36Listen, listen, Muhammad Ismail, these are the main, these are the main faces of Muslim League.
37:42Yes, but, you know, why Jawaharlal Nehru, he was the Prime Minister,
37:45first Prime Minister of Independent India, Dawrii Shahma wants to respond.
37:49You allow them to go to Pakistan, you send the Prime Minister back, Narendra Modi.
37:54You say whatever you want to talk about, Jawaharlal Nehru, can be alive and flourish in our country.
38:00Okay, Advaita, the 30 seconds I have on this part of the show.
38:03Merit and UP Chief Minister are saying Congress was fear-mongering Muslim appeasement politics with CAA?
38:10Is there any doubt? I think there's no doubt at all. That's what's happened.
38:13I mean, the partition has dogged us for so many years, continuing to the present day.
38:19We've seen the populations of Muslims in our country, the way it has risen,
38:23and we've seen the population of Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh and what has come of them,
38:28and the kind of persecution they face on a daily basis, and the kind of atrocities that are carried out
38:33against them,
38:34to the extent that there's actually a depletion in the population. So the facts are there for everyone.
38:39And let's remember, this was very contested even historically. In fact, the President,
38:43Congress President before Jawaharlal Nehru, who was Azad, Maulana Azad,
38:50he was very critical of the Congress leadership at this point, and specifically addressed that
38:55press conference that Jawaharlal Nehru did, which really triggered Jinnah's direct action.
39:00So I've run out of time on this part of the debate. I've run out of time,
39:04but this is a story we're tracking closely. I want to thank all our guests, but do keep in mind,
39:07in the run-up to elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, perhaps a lot more of these issues,
39:15perhaps will be taken up by our political leaders. We'll continue to track that story.
