00:05has been ordered to enter his defense.
00:08Shah Alam High Court Judge Adlin Abdul Majid ruled that the prosecution had established
00:14a prima facie case against the 15-year-old, Sinar Haryan reported.
00:18Defense lawyer Kit Sin Fung confirmed the ruling and said the defense would call only two witnesses,
00:24the accused and Hospital Bahagia Ulukinta forensic psychiatrist Dr. Ian Lloyd-Anthony.
00:31In January, the teenager was declared fit to stand trial and able to mount his defense
00:36after completing a psychiatric assessment at the hospital.
00:40The murder trial began on August 3rd with proceedings held behind closed doors because the case involves a minor.
00:47The boy is accused of fatally stabbing the victim in the girls' toilet of the school between 9.20am and
00:539.35am on October 14th last year.
00:57The accused was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty
01:02or 30 to 40 years imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
01:08However, Section 97, Subsection 1 of the Child Act 2001 states that the death penalty cannot be imposed on a
01:16child below 18.
