This queen is always ready to fly. In this video, a ‘House of the Dragon’ costume designer gives us a behind-the-scenes look at Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen's shift from ripping her final dress to shreds to her powerfully detailed dragon riding armor, incorporating handmade touches like authentic beaten metal woven in with the help of jewelry maker Sara Gunn.

00:00This is the final dress that Rhaenyra will wear. She actually ends up ripping this to shreds.
00:07From the rest of the series she's into more practical dragon riding tunics, but then in
00:13order to make it feel more armoured we made this chainmail sort of coat of plates. This sort of
00:21idea is found in kind of Persian chainmail and armour. These are actual beaten metal plates?
00:27Yes they are. Some of them are stamped, some of them are etched and also they're hand hammered.
00:32I also work with a knitter called Lyria who does these lovely pieces of crochet that give it a bit
00:39more detail. From this costume onwards Rhaenyra is always in boots and trousers ready for the dragon riding.
