00:16Hello, studios. Coming to you from Havana once again, the second day of the Fidel Castro Legacy and Future Colloquium,
00:24this gathering that is celebrating the centenary of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution at such an important moment,
00:32a year of increased aggressions from the imperialism from the United States against Cuba.
00:37And in this context, the possibility of celebrating with delegations from all over the world, not only the legacy, the
00:45past and the ideas of Fidel Castro, but their relevance today and the importance for thinking and shaping the challenges
00:52that the global south is facing right now.
00:54We are here with Yami and she is coming from the Vinceremos Brigade from the United States.
01:01Thank you so much for joining us here in Tell Us Our English.
01:03I was wondering just what were your experiences yesterday, first day of the colloquium? How was that like?
01:10Yeah, thank you so much. Yesterday was incredible.
01:13It was an amazing experience to hear the international community honor the legacy of Fidel Castro and more, even more
01:22importantly, to discuss the future of Cuba and how we keep Fidel Castro's vision alive.
01:28And it was especially important to me as someone coming from the United States, living in the belly of the
01:34beast, where the blockade is coming from, to really oppose what my government is doing to the Cuban people.
01:41And it was really incredible to see everyone rally around Cuba and express, you know, support for the dignity of
01:49the Cuban people and especially to call for the end to this genocidal blockade.
01:55Yami, you told us that there's over 70 people in your brigade alone, right?
02:00Yes.
02:00So how is that feeling within the states among the people regarding the increased aggressions during this year?
02:06Because I understand that you being here is also the testimony that government and people is not the same, right?
02:13That's exactly right.
02:14There are so many of us who oppose what our government is doing all across the world and especially in
02:19Cuba.
02:19There are so many of us that are suffering ourselves from the domestic terrorism that's happening against black and brown
02:28people and marginalized communities within the United States.
02:31And it really is our job to show unity and solidarity with the folks from around the world.
02:37So we do not all agree with what our government is doing.
02:41And it's not just enough to not agree.
02:43We have to show solidarity and action.
02:45So when we get home, we're going to be talking to people about what we saw.
02:50We're going to be organizing against the blockade and really turning this experience into action to support the Cuban people.
