Watch as Guatemala's Fuego Volcano violently erupts in the middle of the night, forcing a group of campers to make a dramatic emergency evacuation.

The dramatic footage, filmed by Chas Davis while camping on nearby Acatenango Volcano outside Antigua, Guatemala, shows Fuego erupting with huge bursts of ash and debris shortly after 2am. The group had been sleeping when the eruption suddenly woke them, with the massive volcanic activity lighting up the darkness.

Their guide quickly ordered everyone to evacuate, calmly telling them, "Time to go. Now." The group then began a lengthy descent from the mountain using headlamps, racing to get away from the danger of the smoke, ash and debris cloud.

The terrifying experience turned an overnight camping trip into an emergency evacuation, with everyone eventually making it to safety.

The dramatic footage was shared online.

One user commented: "This volcano is the most active in the world and erupts frequently, bloody drama queens."
