00:00Early this morning, a shot was fired by the U.S. Consulate.
00:05This is when there is a police cruiser with the lights flashing right in front of it.
00:13It's a brazen attack.
00:16I want to thank the Toronto Police and RCMP and other federal agencies
00:21that are working very closely together to solve this crime
00:25and hopefully prevent future ones.
00:30They have my full support.
00:33At the scene here, evidence of one single projectile discharge was found,
00:38a shell casing as well as some damage to the front of the facade of the U.S. Consulate.
00:44At this time, the Toronto Police Service Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force,
00:49as supported by the Counterterrorism and Security Unit,
00:52is conducting a very active investigation.
00:54As we will have known from March 10th when a shooting occurred at this location,
00:58we will approach this investigation with great seriousness.
01:02So we would not, as a matter of course, rule out any possible connection.
01:05As I said perhaps in my opening remarks, it's too early to say.
01:09The investigators will follow the evidence to where it leads.
01:12So the answer is it's possible, but we don't know that for a fact.
01:15You're not allowed to follow the evidence.
