00:00The DC seemed like it was doing just fine, and then someone had to invite this clown.
00:04Here's a look at the brand new Mattel, DC Core, the Joker action figure.
00:24The Core Joker features 22 points of articulation,
00:26allowing for full posability and standard dynamic battle stances.
00:30Features a classic comic aesthetic, sculpted in signature layered purple suit, green hair, yellow vest,
00:35and an unsettling yellow detailed glossy face printing.
00:40I don't know if he may have used blackmail. After all, those laughs have leverage.
00:43But either way, though, Mr. J found his way into the first wave of figures from the DC Core line,
00:48not only grossly outnumbered being the only villain from this wave,
00:51because of course we've already had a look at Batman 2, Robins, and the Flash,
00:54but he was also the hardest figure to find, too.
00:57Every site that lists DC Core still show, still list Joker as being a pre-order.
01:03In fact, actually, I finally lucked out and found this on Amazon.
01:07I had placed the order, and in the three weeks that I waited for this guy to be delivered,
01:10I know, right, from Amazon, he had gone out of stock,
01:13he had gone in stock for about a day or so, and then he was out of stock again.
01:17I was convinced, though, that Amazon was just going to straight out cancel my order.
01:21Sure enough, he ended up arriving the same time that we also arrived as the Robin,
01:25the figure that we've already had a look at.
01:27For how tall, though, Mr. J is going to stand,
01:29tape measure is telling us he's six inches in height,
01:32working out to be a figure that's 15 centimeters tall.
01:35Still one of my all-time favorite Jokers is the one that we also got from Mattel and the DC
01:39Universe banner.
01:40Unfortunately, though, in the years that I've had this guy, he's developed quite loose legs.
01:45But he stands okay.
01:47He doesn't stand the greatest, I admit that.
01:49But this figure did, as well, also get a re-release,
01:52and he also got a black tuxedo version of him that got paired along with his puddin'.
01:57We also, of course, did get some offerings of the Joker, of course, from McFarlane Toys,
02:02some of my personal favorites.
02:03This one got packed along with Punchline,
02:05even though, really, it's an infinite frontier Joker with just a different head.
02:08Then we also got a classic version of Joker.
02:11The body is okay.
02:12Don't really love the head, though.
02:14And then, of course, if you want to display the clown with the core,
02:16here's what the figure looks like with not only the core version of Batman, but also the core version of
02:20Robin.
02:20There was also another version of the Robin that came in clue with a cycle.
02:23There was also, of course, the Flash, making up the entire first wave of figures we've gotten from Mattel so
02:28far.
02:29I'll try to waste little of your precious time just to show you that the figure comes in clue with
02:33a paper pamphlet.
02:34What is on the pamphlet?
02:35Many are asking right now.
02:37One side, though, is just a whole lot of language.
02:39It does show you, though, how down below he can fire off rockets from his laughing, smiling gun.
02:45It also comes in clue with some swappable face plates.
02:48Not head sculpts, face plates.
02:49Then on the back side, it actually shows you all the accessories that he comes in clue with.
02:53And that you have to take the time.
02:55Maybe use maybe slightly larger scissors than the ones that you're using in the diagram.
02:58I mean, I would never be able to cut anything that would be like a Swiss Army knife scissors.
03:03Have you ever tried to use scissors on a Swiss Army knife?
03:05They're next to impossible.
03:06I think it would be also impossible to try to cut off anything from the sprue using a tiny little
03:11pair of scissors like that.
03:13So other than maybe adding the recommendation of using slightly larger snips,
03:17the only other recommendation I would also say is when it comes to paper pamphlets like this that you have
03:21no plans to use,
03:22discard it into the recycling bin.
03:25And it actually just missed the recycling bin by just that much.
03:28The figure has quite a lot of accessories.
03:30Some that I like, some that I don't like.
03:32We're going to all digest that right now.
03:33But the figure had on his sprue, which I've already taken the liberty of removing all of them, these mines.
03:39Now, these mines, if I can just bear your attention right here to the bat rack, weapons rack, bat rack,
03:44weapons rack.
03:46These happen to be the exact same mines that came in clue with Batman.
03:49Now, I've kind of kept everything by Batman's accessories on one side.
03:53The boy wonders on the other because Batman really never likes to have the two combined.
03:57But they are exactly, it seems like they are exactly the same.
04:00I don't know why, why that Joker had to have the exact same things.
04:04By the way, this was the sprue that I took very precious time to try to cut off carefully.
04:09But I would just discard that.
04:11I'm sure that probably could also go in the recycling bin.
04:13Does anybody really care?
04:14Nobody really cares.
04:15I don't really care about these, to be all honest with you.
04:18I feel like, if anything, they're filler accessories.
04:20Do you have any plans whatsoever to have Robin?
04:23Ah, Robin, I'm just like throwing out names right now.
04:26Joker, throwing these mines at Batman, or Robin for that matter.
04:29I have none.
04:30And yet, though, the figure had more than none.
04:32He had some.
04:33Some being, of course, four of these.
04:35I just don't think that he necessarily needed to have these.
04:38If anything, would have, in my imaginary mind, melted all of these down, poured them into a vat.
04:46And what I would have molded maybe instead was something like a sledgehammer.
04:50I think this is the sledgehammer that came in clue with the DC Universe Classics.
04:53Uh, Robin, uh, Joker, which is right over there.
04:56That's what I would have done.
04:57I don't know, though, if I would have really taken any time to mold these into mines.
05:01I'm assuming, again, the mines.
05:03The figure has also, to include with him, this interesting-looking axe.
05:08What I like is that they found a way to make the hair of the clown into the blades of
05:13the axe.
05:14Though, to be fair, it's a pretty short axe.
05:16Probably could have maybe used just a little bit longer of a handle.
05:19I mean, if anything.
05:20Here we go.
05:21Match, melting, melting, melting.
05:22If I had poured this, again, into the vat, the amount of plastic that he then used for these mines,
05:28I think probably could have dedicated towards a much longer handle.
05:31And he would have had, not maybe something as cool as the mallet, but I think he would have had
05:35something he could wield a lot better than this tiny handled axe.
05:39By the way, though, on the back of the axe, there are these slots.
05:41So, if you happen to have your bat rack here, is that the term that we're coining now for these?
05:46It's awkward, though, that they've made them the opposite way.
05:49So, if you want to have them, for example, on Batman's rack, you kind of have to put them this
05:55way.
05:55Does that make sense?
05:56You have to put them on this way.
05:58And even then, I mean, like, it fits fine on there, but Batman's already got a busy rack.
06:02What?
06:03He's already got a busy rack.
06:04So, there's no real place.
06:06Unless Joker had a rack.
06:08Or unless maybe we get some extra racks down the road.
06:11He can hold the accessory.
06:13One of the benefits, at least, by having two gripping hands.
06:16Go ahead and just get that.
06:17It looks kind of like a really large blade, like a very large novelty lollipop.
06:23Although, again, if those are sharp blades on the side, I wouldn't be licking that at all, whether you paid
06:27me or not.
06:28But, so, while he does also come into that, I think the much cooler accessory, though, that Joker comes with
06:33is this kind of smiling face cannon.
06:36This large gun cannon, as you can see, does have ha on the side.
06:40On the other side, it does also have ha there, too.
06:43This opens up.
06:44So, you can have, for example, it does just, from the side, look like a laughing, something that would just
06:49punch out, like a punching bag, like one of those punching fists.
06:52But what it does do is something that's a little bit more dangerous.
06:54Of course, the mouth opens up, and on the inside, you actually have two cannons.
06:59What you get also is not two missiles, but you get actually four.
07:02So, if you happen to launch one of these, because there's, they don't both launch, but if you launch one
07:08of these and you can't find it, or maybe the cat has stolen it.
07:10If, by the way, a cat has stolen any of your missiles, quickly try to grab it just in case
07:15the little kitty ends up choking on one of these.
07:17But when you go to put them in, put the one in the bottom, I mean, you don't have to
07:20necessarily put the one in the bottom first, and this one doesn't fire.
07:24It's just there for storage.
07:25The one on the top, though, does fire, and you can tell right away, it'll hit a spring, and it'll
07:30pop up the button on the top.
07:32Then you can just conceal these.
07:34Batman would be none the wiser to know that Joker's actually packing heat.
07:38And then when, of course, you need to fire it, make sure.
07:40Now, you can also swing this up this way, too.
07:43But, I mean, the novelty of this is the fact that the mouth does open.
07:46So, you just open it up, press the button on the top, maybe put a hand in front of it,
07:50too, and the missile fires out.
07:52Again, the bottom missile won't fire, but you can pull it out as a backup and just pop it in
07:57the top, and that fires off as well.
07:59So, you get some extra missiles.
08:01That's not bad.
08:02It's large of a gun, though, and especially you'll notice right away when you put it into Joker's hand.
08:07But, it's very heavy, and it's also going to cause the figure some stability issues when it comes to him
08:12standing upright.
08:13He'll be falling down.
08:14In fact, actually, I just ended up having him just displayed with the gun, like, this way.
08:18So, of course, the figure wasn't going to be falling over at all.
08:22Let's look at his faceplates, shall we?
08:24Because the figure does, after all, come and clue with those as well.
08:27Let's get him to stand here for a second.
08:28I like this gun.
08:30I just don't think, again, like, I think the mines are just a waste of plastic, be all honest.
08:34I don't know if you would consider this to be a waste of plastic.
08:36But, Joker does technically come included with Jokerized versions of all the heroes.
08:41They aren't necessarily swappable head sculpts.
08:43What they are instead is swappable faces.
08:46So, how it works, though, is...
08:48Where's my Flash?
08:49I just have to grab my Flash over here.
08:51So, Flash, you're not actually going to be popping off the entire headpiece.
08:56What you're going to do, though, instead, is it literally just snaps over the front of their face.
09:01I know in one way it's going to make the face a whole lot larger and disproportionate to the rest
09:06of the figure's body.
09:07But, at least, though, it's one way.
09:09Because, I guess, from the cost of plastic, it would be so expensive for them to actually include full-sized
09:14heads
09:14that you then just swap out with the faceplates here or just swap out with the ball joints.
09:18So, this basically just will snap over, Flash's face.
09:22And, he kind of has these cool-looking swirly eyes with a little bit of a smile down below.
09:27We can rinse and repeat those same steps.
09:29We'll grab Batman here.
09:30Now, Batman, actually, his isn't that much bigger.
09:33Just to quickly, though, show you what the face sculpt looks like.
09:36Again, you've got the little swirling eyes and a smile on his face.
09:39And that just...
09:40Now, I like this because they've actually contoured sort of where the ears would be.
09:44So, when you fit it over top of Batman's face, not only does it cover over those ears,
09:47but it finishes the front half of the ears as well.
09:50So, it doesn't just look like he's got these flat back ears.
09:53So, there you've got the Batman.
09:55Those, I think, are generally successful.
09:57I think the one that maybe isn't as successful is probably Robbins.
10:01Robbins has to kind of go underneath his hair.
10:04So, you can't just necessarily put it over his face like that.
10:07First of all, it'll crush his hair.
10:08I mean, boy, Wonder loves the way he combs his hair.
10:11But you'll also have to damage the plastic.
10:13So, you'll have to instead tuck it underneath the hair like this and tuck it in place.
10:20My idea initially was, oh, hey, if I had a secondary Jokerized Robin,
10:25I could technically just pillage the black mask from this Robin
10:29and display it with this Robin instead.
10:31Now that I realize, though, it's just a face plate, I don't know.
10:34It doesn't look as good, really, for Robin.
10:36It doesn't look so bad for Batman, for Flash or Batman, for that matter.
10:39But I think, though, for Robin, I mean, first of all, from the side, you can clearly see it's just
10:43a mask.
10:45But it's also, it just doesn't look right, maybe, on Robin.
10:49So, again, I'll just kind of leave those on the figures for right now.
10:52Well, maybe we even bring them back when we look to the rotisserie.
10:54And, of course, we wrap up the review of Joker, which we're not obviously going to do just yet.
10:58What we'll do, though, instead is we're going to be looking at Joker's face.
11:02I like Joker's face.
11:04The one thing I'm not so crazy about is the way they've handled his eyes.
11:08By making his eyes so beady and small, they're hard to make out exactly that there's pupils in there.
11:15Hopefully, though, with the clarity of a camera and how close this guy seems to want to get to a
11:19camera,
11:20you can't make out that Joker does have eyes.
11:22But from a distance far enough away, it just looks like he's got these tiny little slits.
11:27I think the face is still good, though.
11:29I like the smile.
11:30Hair probably could have been maybe just a little bit crazier than what we ended up getting here.
11:34But I think the coloring for the hair looks good.
11:37I think overall, like, the paint for the face is good.
11:39It's just that his eyes are so small, it's actually, again, impossible to actually make them out.
11:45Now, I'm going to just bring in, because I get very few of a chance to actually bring in my
11:49original DC Universe Classics Joker.
11:51Man, I love this thing.
11:53I think I like it so much, too, because it also reminds me of the old Kenner Superpowers Joker.
11:57Now, again, like, body-wise, they're not that much different in size.
12:01I think they're very much proportionally sized well with one another.
12:04Whereas this one kind of goes more the darker purple, this Joker kind of goes with more like a lighter
12:09purple, something like a grape.
12:12The jacket is one thing that's molded to his vest, and this is all one piece.
12:16He's got a little flower there, obviously, there on the side.
12:18I like the way that they've also sculpted the front of his tie.
12:22That not only is it sticking up, but they've also made it a little, you know, a little squiggly, a
12:26little crazy there as well.
12:28There are a few little things, though, on Joker that don't quite match in colors.
12:32So while he does have pretty good colors for the jacket, the sleeves, you can really see right away that
12:37he doesn't have really the same colors when it comes to the joints in his elbows.
12:41And more predominantly, he's got a different color here for the mid-torso.
12:45He's also got it in his knees, too.
12:48Like, I don't mind this color.
12:49Had this only been really the same color of purple that they'd used for everything else on the Joker, first,
12:55it wouldn't look so jarring.
12:56And I don't think many people would really be all that upset with this being the color for Joker.
13:00I mean, yes, Joker has had different purples over the years.
13:03But yet, unfortunately, though, by making this color, and my guess is it's probably just the type of plastic that
13:08they end up having to use,
13:10it just looks, it stands out.
13:12Because you can see it here, you can see it here, and you can see it here down below in
13:15his knees.
13:16I like one thing that I do like, is that while he doesn't have any ankle articulation, he can't really
13:20do anything at all with his feet.
13:22But I like the way that they've given sort of these shaggy pants from Scooby-Doo, where they drape over
13:27the front of his feet.
13:29I don't know what your feelings are when it comes to Joker and his suits, whether they should be made
13:33to fit.
13:33But I kind of like the idea that they'd look a little baggy, and they're a little long on his
13:37leg.
13:38Of course, he does, again, have the tail on the back of his jacket.
13:40This is softer plastic.
13:41I mean, it's a good-looking Joker.
13:43There are, again, just a few little things.
13:45Too beady of an eye.
13:46And again, like the color being a little off here on the mid-torso, or like the waist area.
13:50Of course, those sections there as well in the elbows, and his knees as well.
13:55For Joker's articulation, his head's going to be on a ball joint, allowing the figure to do what it's doing
13:59right now.
14:00It can also look up.
14:02That's as far up, by the way.
14:03It can also look down.
14:04And it can also rock back and forth as well.
14:07Shoulders do allow the arms to rotate all the way around.
14:10With that, too, you can also hinge them out.
14:12They don't quite fully pull off a T-pose.
14:14Don't fully pull off those 90-degree angle bends.
14:17But still, though, that's pretty good for the arms.
14:20No bicep swivels here at all.
14:22However, though, again, the arms can rotate all the way around.
14:24There's a hinge there that allows the arms to do what they're, again, doing right now.
14:28Hands rotate all the way around.
14:29They hinge back and forth.
14:31Figure has a waist swivel.
14:33And I say that loosely.
14:34It's not the greatest of waist swivels, but I guess it gets the job done.
14:39I mean, you can't really move the torso up and down.
14:41But again, like all these figures so far, have had only just standard swivels in their waist.
14:46Legs split.
14:47This one leg, though, is really tight in the Joker.
14:50I'm not sure why this leg is so tight when this leg is perfectly fine.
14:54But like bringing this leg out, it is, I mean, it can bend, but it is stubborn.
14:59You can, of course, also move the leg forward and back.
15:03Three quarters up the way.
15:04Walking way of the thigh.
15:06There's a swivel cut.
15:06So you can swivel those legs all the way around.
15:08Double hinge on the knee.
15:10I know.
15:10It looks awkward.
15:11That color.
15:12I don't know why.
15:12Again, the color wasn't the same.
15:14And when it comes to his ankles, there does feel like there is something you can actually move on the
15:19feet.
15:19But again, saying that, you can't really move them all that much.
15:23Figure of Joker also does have pickles on the bottoms of his feet, just in case you did want to
15:27use yourself a stand.
15:29It's a good Joker.
15:31I mean, again, like as an entryway Joker, I'm sure, though, there's probably going to be the premiere, if that's
15:35still the name that they're going to be sticking with, a premiere version of the Joker at some point down
15:39the road.
15:40But one, at least for right now, for one geared towards kids, even though, unfortunately, he was a much harder
15:45figure to find.
15:45I'm glad to finally find the Joker and again have him displayed with now the Jokerized versions of the heroes.
15:53I feel there's still some things that they may have maybe wasted the plastic on, the budget on the plastic.
15:58I mean, again, I really like the smiling gun that he has.
16:01That to open up and also have a firing missile mechanism is really cool.
16:04It's heavy.
16:05It's big.
16:06But I mean, again, like that's something that's right up Joker's alley, which I don't feel is necessarily up his
16:11alley.
16:11The figure, again, has wasted plastic when it comes to these mines.
16:14If, again, I could use my imaginary mind, imaginary mind, just melt down the plastic.
16:19We've done this already.
16:20Just melt them down, melt them down, melt them down.
16:23I feel like, again, the alternative to having those mines could either have been a mallet or they could have
16:29maybe, again, used the same amount of plastic and just given this a much longer handle instead.
16:33Well, it did take a little while for the heroes of the DC Corps to get the Joker's punchline.
16:37They also got, because of him, some swappable faceplates.
16:41I thought initially, though, that they would have been full-sized head sculpts.
16:44But because, again, like how much that would have cost, Mattel tried their best to include some things as Easter
16:49eggs.
16:50That you could then use with other figures that you've ever been collecting from the DC Corps.
16:53So because of that, Batman, Flash, and Robin have these smiling faces that can go over top the heads that
16:59they have right now.
17:00They work okay and look okay with both Flash and Batman.
17:03They don't seem to look as okay with Robin, just probably because you can see not only does it have
17:08to go underneath Robin's hair, because you don't want to crush that, but it doesn't also then match the coloring
17:13around the back of his head.
17:15It just looks like he's actually wearing a mask.
17:17But, again, like what's my long-term plan of having these figures displayed with these laughing faces anyways?
17:21Anyways, it's probably going to be coming off right after these reviews.
17:24Now, Joker has quite a lot of accessories.
17:27You would really think that Mattel, out of all the figures that they've released so far from the DC Corps,
17:31Joker, I think they probably have spent the most budget on.
17:34First, you're getting a figure that probably isn't going to be using this mold again.
17:37You're then including larger accessories, like the smiling gun cannon that he has, four missiles.
17:43I mean, a company like Mattel probably could have just used two missiles packed with the figure, but they include
17:48four just in case you happen to lose one or two.
17:51I think that's a nice thing.
17:52I think the only thing that's wasted plastic on this figure, and I know, again, I said this a couple
17:56of times in this review, is the mines.
17:58First, they're only going to be reused molds anyways, the ones that came included with Batman.
18:02And then to color them differently, I mean, there's not really a need that I would ever see putting this
18:07in Joker's hands.
18:08I mean, he doesn't also have a utility belt like both Batman and Robin had before.
18:13So there's not a place really that you can store these extra mines.
18:16You could, in theory, obviously put it on the bat rack, weapons rack that came both in with Batman and
18:21Robin.
18:21You could also attach it onto their utility belts.
18:23Speaking of things, by the way, that can attach onto the other figures, I don't know if you can see
18:28it,
18:28but at the bottom, just below it says Ha on the cannon, of course, the Joker is holding.
18:33There's a peg.
18:35That peg can actually work with the back of the torso's bodies for the other DC Corps figures.
18:40So remember when we looked at, like, Batman had that hole on the back of his body?
18:44Robin had the same.
18:45I think Flash had one.
18:46Yeah, Flash has one too.
18:48That hole can now serve at least a purpose.
18:51It's going to make it look heavy.
18:52It's going to make it look stupid.
18:54But you could technically also attach the smiling gun on the back of their bodies.
18:59That's so far the only purpose that we've seen so far that those holes in the backs actually work with.
19:04Overall, it's a good-looking Joker.
19:06I mean, again, there's a few little things, like the coloring in the purple doesn't quite jive in all the
19:10areas.
19:11And again, some of the wasted plastic that they've decided to give him for weapons,
19:14I think, again, they probably could have just saved that and put it towards a much longer handle of that
19:18clown axe that he has instead.
19:21Of course, he also has tiny little beady eyes.
19:24You can see a better look to Joker's face the closer you get to his face.
19:28But far enough away, you can barely make out that the Clown Prince of Crime has any pupils at all.
19:33What do you guys think of Joker?
19:35Sorry.
19:35What do you guys think of Joker?
19:36Let me know down below in the comments section.
19:38Have you guys first picked up this figure?
19:40Have you picked up any of the DC Corps figures?
19:42Let me know what you think of this line so far and what you think of the only villain so
19:46far that we've gotten from this line.
19:48That's not really true.
19:50There is also a three-pack that's next to impossible to find that has a Batman, a Nightwing, and a
19:56Bane.
19:56So far, it only seems to be listed on Amazon.
19:59I don't know if it's an Amazon exclusive.
20:00But right now, it's also sold out over on Amazon, too.
