Crockett raised concerns over reports of deaths in ICE custody and questioned whether Congress is doing enough to ensure transparency and accountability. She also criticized what she described as efforts to intimidate members of Congress attempting to carry out oversight responsibilities, emphasizing that government agencies must remain accountable to the public. The debate comes as immigration enforcement, detention conditions, and congressional oversight continue to be major issues in U.S. politics.

Watch the full remarks and the latest developments surrounding ICE oversight, immigration policy, congressional investigations, and government accountability.

00:00um you know i i'm actually kind of speechless we've had i don't know how many killings but i
00:10do know that it is a record number of killings and instead of trying to make sure that we do
00:16our job which is to conduct the oversight in fact our colleague who was trying to conduct
00:22oversight at the dilly facility because she wanted to make sure that people weren't dying
00:27in that facility in new jersey is now facing 17 years in prison somehow for doing her job why is
00:35it that we can't just come to dc and do what we were elected to do which is to make
00:39sure that these
00:41federal officers are protecting and serving instead the only thing that's happening is that people are
00:48being taunted they are being tracked and they are being killed and as i look at my colleague i don't
00:56know if you've had anything to say but as a texan i would hope that we could come together as
01:02texans
01:03and denounce what just took place in houston texas how about we focus on making sure that this agency
01:11that has a record amount of dollars now not because the democrats were trying to send them more money
01:17because we didn't want to reward their bad behavior but instead of us doing our jobs and conducting
01:22oversight as it relates to federal officers you guys decide to waste our time in the american people's
01:29tax dollars with this nonsense how about we do our part and try to start saving some lives
01:36i'll yield it seems like we are at a point where we have a solution in search of a problem
01:44unfortunately for the american people when they send us to dc they want us to solve problems
01:49and so while i hear my colleagues on the other side of the aisle claiming that this is about protecting
01:55children let's talk about the fact that children are not protected in so many ways right now
02:02we can talk about gun violence which i'll never want to talk about because our kids are being killed
02:07and frankly if you look at the numbers if i was to ask you and you decided you wanted to
02:12be honest
02:12about whether or not more children are killed in their schools because of gun violence versus children dying
02:18because of issues like this if you tell the truth you'll know that gun violence is killing our
02:25children you'd also understand the importance of making investments into things such as mental health
02:31and when we look at the actual numbers as relates to mental health and what these types of bills do
02:38to
02:38our children let me give you some facts because i don't want to operate on feelings i want to operate
02:44on
02:44facts trans youth face some of the highest suicide risk of any other youth groups in this country
02:51nearly half of trans and non-binary young people seriously consider attempting suicide each year
02:59the actual number is 46 but i don't see y'all trying to propose anything to make sure that we
03:04can assist
03:05these children suicide actual attempts we know that a study showed that one in five trans
03:12or non-binary youth have attempted suicide just in the past year over their lifetimes up to 40 percent of
03:21transgender individuals report suicide attempts and states that pass laws banning gender affirming care
03:29saw suicide attempts by transgender youth increased by up to 72 percent so if you want to protect
03:39children and youth maybe consider what is actually happening happening you are absolutely not protecting
03:48their mental health and you're absolutely not providing mental health resources because we know
03:53that republicans hate to put money into mental health but they blame every travesty that we see on
03:59mental health we also know that measles which unfortunately have started to kill children in this country
04:07because it's back on the rise y'all haven't decided to have a hearing or pass a bill to make
04:13sure that we could
04:14eradicate measles which was eradicated before the republicans got back in control
04:19tb is up whooping cough is up listen
04:24pamela asked earlier why are we doing this i can tell you we're doing this because the midterms are coming
04:30and you don't want to talk about the actual problems because you guys are the ones that have caused the
04:35vast majority of the
04:36problems that we're dealing right now if some people don't want to talk about measles or whooping cough we can
04:41just talk about the fact that the vast majority of the country right now is scared to eat lettuce
04:45because they believe that they may start pooping and can't stop now i didn't even know that this existed
04:51but this is where we are we are at the point that y'all are so careless with who it
04:57is that runs the cdc
04:58and y'all are so reckless that from our farmers and ranchers not knowing whether or not their cattle is
05:05going to survive or literally people saying i can't eat the berries and in the salad because i may not
05:14be
05:14able to get off the toilet i think is it's actually very symbolic of kind of how most americans feel
05:20we are in a very um pooing uh place right now in this country in all seriousness though we got
05:29a lot
05:30of things that we could be solving and i can guarantee you if you go knock the door right now
05:33and ask your
05:34constituents whether or not they want to be concerned about ebola which has come back around again
05:43or whether they want to be concerned about the fact because of elon and his recklessness as it relates to
05:49usaid we know that there is an increase in hiv globally right now i can tell you that there are
05:56some medical conditions that people care about in this moment the fact that cancer research dollars have been
06:04cut there's a lot that we could be doing and i would really want to engage in a real conversation
06:10but going after trans children is just a campaign spiel for you because it has worked in the past but
06:17i can
06:17tell you right now that the american people understand that y'all are not serious people in
06:23this moment and therefore the midterms are coming the democrats we're going to talk about this pooey
06:30situation that y'all got us into subscribe to one india and never miss an update
06:39download the one india app now
