00:01725 to Grand Slam got some feedback coming in on a quarterback list top 10 that's what happens in
00:06the summer they do this every year Jared Goff is number nine number one was Josh Allen number two
00:11was Patrick Mahomes number three was Matthew Stafford rounding out the top five you had Joe
00:16Burrow and Lamar Jackson you think Mahomes plays week one I do do you really do Tom's nodding his
00:25head yeah the fact that he was in offseason programs with the Chiefs in June tells me he's
00:32coming that's become more of a nine-month injury now hasn't it it has um in large part uh and
00:39he's
00:39still young enough uh to have a recovery like that I'm just curious as to how they're going to you
00:45part of his big threat was the threat to to scramble and you know he wasn't going to run for
00:50100 yards
00:51but he was a leading rusher quite a few times last season yeah yeah and so how does that affect
00:56Andy Reid's play calling and and how they operate well I think they'd like to be able to run the
01:01ball better part of that's the thought that Kenneth Walker can come in and take some of that pressure
01:05off I agree but in in the passing game part of it was hey if there's nothing there yeah Patrick
01:10Mahomes makes something happen yeah part of the wizardry of Mahomes when you're talking about
01:13Herbert man he is it is really a lot like Stafford yeah when he was here and he had Aaron
01:19Rodgers in
01:20his division and just if that didn't happen things play out differently they just do and the same
01:28thing has happened in to Herbert with having Patrick Mahomes in his division and two of the best coaches
01:34in the NFL but doesn't it feel like this could be the year for Herbert I know we've been seduced
01:40before saying that but when I point out that Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt were both hurt last year his
01:45tackles getting both those guys healthy they've invested in the running back room in Omari and
01:50Hampton and that's the Harbaugh bread and butter establish the run protect your quarterback Harbaugh
01:55said two years ago that it's his goal to win Herbert the MVP that they want to set things up
02:01for
02:01Herbert to thrive it didn't happen last year it was kind of a year from hell for him the talent
02:06is
02:06there no one's ever disputed the talent and one of the things I love about Justin Herbert is when he
02:12goes out there and plays hurt plays with a broken hand plays with a cast on his hand at quarterback
02:16obviously not his throwing hand but like that to me is like that I love watching him play that's why
02:23I compare him to Stafford he's like young strong arm tough playoff losers who have all the talent in
02:30the world and it's gonna click before the end of their career right that was the note the notion
02:35was you're laughing he was a loser that's people says it's when you say it like that it just makes
02:40me
02:40laugh but I never doubted that he had the talent and I don't doubt that Herbert has the talent
02:44yeah the talent certainly there yeah a couple quick texts this one says regardless of his age Stafford
02:51is the best quarterback in football look at the production he's getting better D in Southfield
02:56is it reigning MVP so it's hard to make that argument yeah hard to fight you on that one
03:01the other quarterback we didn't bring up Baker Mayfield was not the top 10
03:05um fine with it yeah Baker's scrappy and he's gonna win some games he's got no business winning
03:10but he's also gonna lose some because of that scrappiness and and there's a little bit of a
03:14a Brett Favre nature to his game I'd rather have Mayfield and Dak okay and Dak was sixth on the
03:20list
03:22I think that's crazy I think Dak to even be mentioned in this list I think is is ridiculous
03:27if he snuck in top 10 I don't think I would have had a huge issue yeah if you're looking
03:32at 10
03:33and you're debating Dak or Mayfield I'd personally take Mayfield it's a 50-50 debate how about uh
03:38Dak or Hertz yeah Hertz should be in the top 10 I mean yeah I think there's there's two guys
03:43again
03:44if Baker Mayfield was 10 and you you took Dak off and you moved everybody else up one I'd have
03:50no issue
03:50with that anyway if you took Dak off yeah what did I say no you said Dak yeah you were
04:01good
04:04okay here's the question we have we have about tip of the cap to you guys thank you
04:11we got about 10 minutes before we get to Heather's news of the two grand slams so let me just
04:14throw
04:15this out there the U.S. is out I want to know if that means you are out because as
04:20we set the scene
04:21for today they're still playing they are still playing World Cup soccer and I thought Greg had
04:25a great analogy it's Duke North Carolina Kansas and Kentucky in the final four you have the big
04:31heavy hitters with all the great players in the final four this is exactly how you'd want it to go
04:36for the World Cup John are you in or are you out I'm out I'm out I've had enough of
04:44watching grown men
04:46roll around on the ground and where it really gets me is like the time clock in their head the
04:54amount
04:55of times that you know somebody steps on a toenail and all of a sudden they're on the ground
05:00rolling around like their leg has been amputated no foul is called and then all of a sudden they're
05:07back up and running it's miraculous like the the amount of miracles that happen on a soccer pitch
05:16is remarkable is it the healing powers of soccer is it worse than basketball than the NBA oh it's way
05:25worse now I mean okay we get upset about the flopping and basketball but it happens I mean through the
05:31course of a game you know like if you're watching you know SGA does it happen seven or eight times
05:39probably around there you're watching LeBron does it happen a handful of times yeah
05:44on the soccer pitch I don't know does it happen 75 times in a game and that may be an
05:51over
05:52exaggeration but it happens literally minute by minute and there's 90 minutes I'm 75 might
06:00actually be an underestimate I don't consider myself a big soccer fan but if you tell me I
06:05get France Spain England Argentina that's what everybody wanted to see and now we get to see
06:10it in the in the everyone knows something about soccer sure right and that's the Harry Kane Mbappe
06:16you got the stars of the sport the best countries in the world all right you're going into the world
06:21cup if you would ask me who are the top four teams in soccer I wouldn't I have no idea
06:28so I'm I'm I'm
06:30telling you this from someone who didn't care about soccer before I cared about it because the U.S.
06:35was in it now that they're out why would I care now I may watch some of it simply because
06:42my wife
06:43is into it it'll probably be on plus I'm sure at some point we'll have to mention somebody won
06:49the world cup yeah today three o'clock tomorrow three o'clock and then this weekend we'll have
06:55the final oh but there's also a consolation game there is on Saturday Sunday will determine
07:00the world cup winner Greg yeah I'm still all in this is one of the I would say a few
07:06it's it's
07:07I can think of a handful of events that I can watch it just happily without quote my team in
07:14it this
07:14the NCAA tournament it's better when Michigan's in it and wins it but I can watch it without my team
07:22to root for like it's almost like an idiot proof tournament I love it like and especially when you
07:27have like this sort of there's a nationality to it there's a um a flavor yeah like a flavor there's
07:35a connection to it is what I enjoy about it so yeah I'm still all in I can watch this
07:39I mean I'm
07:41interested to see who wins it's the what I love about this and it's Greg's way more of a soccer
07:46person than me I'll watch some of these games the next two days I might watch more if they're
07:50interesting I'll bail if it's not but okay you have two of the best players in the sport
07:56Mbappe and Messi right yep they could go toe to toe you've got the four blue bloods as you
08:02described and comparing to the NCAA tournament it's like I respect what's happening here four
08:07one seeds are it's like this was the this is like the crown jewel final four of soccer and it's
08:16the
08:16absolute best in the world in the biggest tournament in the world and I'm definitely at least lukewarm
08:23interested in it I would compare it to a college football season that's been condensed to six
08:31weeks that kind of intensity that kind of connection with the fan bases think about this they've played
08:39the world cup for about 100 years only eight countries have ever won four are still playing
08:44it truly is the blue bloods to Tom's point if it's entertaining like I wasn't super thrilled to
08:50watch Argentina Switzerland but all of a sudden that game's tied going down the wire and John by
08:58the way they threw a guy out for flopping yeah I know I did see that one and okay great
09:03but again
09:05it flopping is still a part of it and yeah which I thought was hilarious was were you watching at
09:12the
09:12time yeah we had did you see in the bottom left corner they were doing the VAR and it came
09:18back as
09:19mistaken identity that that made me laugh out loud mistaken I they actually said mistaken identity
09:30very meme worthy yes yeah so look we'll take a couple texts on it 248-539-9797 the US is
09:38out
09:38does that mean you're out the world cup never heard of it three o'clock the next couple days and
09:44then the
09:44final this weekend and it's you know I think the storyline with England that they've had what 60
09:49years 60 years yeah and then I think wasn't the last euro France and England and France won I'm
09:56pretty sure okay so to see a rematch of that's kind of cool Greg shaking his head I swear was
10:01that
10:01Spain won the euros I'm thinking semis then I think okay dollars is there a rooting is there a
10:08rooting interest real quick rooting interest Greg I am enamored by the greatness of France okay Tom are
10:16you rooting for this England storyline yeah because I like droughts to end eventually look they're
10:20basically the maple leaves of soccer same amount of time that makes me not one more year for them
10:25once you compare to the maple leaves they are they feel like they're the best uh they're a little
10:29entitled to thinking but I like seeing droughts end I think this I think if England won the
10:33celebrations would be something to see yeah John won't watch I'm not going to ask you who you're
10:39rooting for no no just let me know when I can wake up okay will do 248-539-9797 we
10:46got two grand slam
10:47coming up at 725 Heather's news as well uh we will get into um a story that requires help from
10:54my
10:54co-workers and uh Heather you're uniquely qualified to do so we'll do that at 735 it's 97 one
11:02you're welcome
