00:00I auditioned the same year as John Mulaney and Jordan Peele.
00:04John got hired as a writer there.
00:07Jordan has gone on to do nothing.
00:10Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:11And today we're counting down our picks for the most notable performers
00:14who auditioned for Saturday Night Live, didn't make the cut,
00:17but still went on to build successful careers anyway.
00:20It doesn't make any sense.
00:22I'm on his yacht right now.
00:25He has money.
00:28Number 20. Caleb Heron
00:41An SNL scout saw Caleb Heron performing a character sketch at a show in 2019.
00:46The oddly specific character choice piqued the scout's interest,
00:49and that was enough to lend Heron an audition in New York in front of Lorne Michaels himself.
00:54The show ultimately passed, but Heron didn't let that deter him.
00:57I would have killed for that job the first time.
00:59The first time I had no career, I had no followers, I had no team.
01:02I was just making comedy in Chicago.
01:04I would have killed for that job.
01:05I would have changed my life.
01:06Glad I didn't get it.
01:07Not a place for me to work.
01:08He took those character videos to Twitter,
01:10where they blew up for their highly relatable premises
01:12and sharp thought-provoking commentary on just about every topic under the sun.
01:17After building momentum on social media,
01:19Heron launched his podcast So True with Caleb Heron,
01:22which became a genuine hit.
01:24So do you see God as a figure that exists and doles out judgment when we leave?
01:28No.
01:28So you don't think there'll be a hell for bad people that God sent?
01:32I think this is hell.
01:33You think Earth is hell?
01:35You and my mom are very aligned on this.
01:36He has since racked up film and TV credits,
01:39including a role in the 2026 Devil Wears Prada sequel.
01:42Anytime that Miranda would walk by in a scene or be in the background,
01:46I was always sitting up straighter.
01:47You know how you pretend to work when your boss is watching?
01:50Of course.
01:50Like, stuff like that.
01:51Number 19.
01:52Lamorne Morris
01:53When Lamorne Morris auditioned in 2010,
01:55he was up against stiff competition and ultimately lost out to Jay Farrow.
01:59I was the guy who was good enough to play in Latvia.
02:02And then one day, I don't know, man, I just lost it.
02:06They found another black guy.
02:09Labak Melno Viranc
02:11means the better black guy.
02:13It stung,
02:14especially since Morris had long admired original cast member Garrett Morris,
02:18who inspired him to pursue comedy in the first place.
02:20Still, he didn't linger on the loss.
02:22Within a year,
02:23he landed the role of Winston Bishop on New Girl,
02:26turning the character into a fan favorite with his unpredictable comedic energy.
02:30Then, in 2023,
02:32he starred in the fifth season of Fargo,
02:34where his dramatic chops earned him an Emmy.
02:36He has her right now.
02:39And I don't think she wants to be there.
02:41You spoke to her.
02:42She was in the county hospital and he took her out.
02:45We're only in three deputies.
02:47In a full circle twist,
02:49Morris later portrayed Garrett Morris in the 2024 film Saturday Night,
02:52which chronicled the chaotic hours before SNL's very first episode aired.
03:08Number 18,
03:09Rachel Bloom.
03:10Rachel Bloom's 2012 SNL audition tape has since become the stuff of internet legend.
03:15It featured her doing a wildly committed impression of Katharine Hepburn
03:19reading for the role of Bugs Bunny in Space Jam.
03:33It didn't land her a cast spot,
03:35but it did showcase the exact kind of bold absurdity she would later become known for.
03:40Before her failed audition,
03:42Bloom actually worked inside 30 Rock as an SNL intern,
03:45giving her a close-up look at the machine she dreamed of entering.
03:48Hi, you were an intern at SNL.
03:50I was.
03:51When I worked there.
03:52I was.
03:52And, uh, I, by the way, I'm going to just be honest,
03:55I did not remember that.
03:56And.
03:56Oh, but like, but interns come, I mean, first of all, they're like 15.
03:59Yeah, interns come and go, yeah.
04:00I was there for a semester.
04:01I was also in the writer's room.
04:03She later channeled all that creative chaos she had observed
04:05into co-creating and starring in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,
04:08the musical comedy series that earned her a Golden Globe and an Emmy.
04:13Antidepressants are so not a big deal.
04:16Big Wolf, you're on an antidepressant.
04:18Take two with or without a meal.
04:27Here's one of the great what-if stories in comedy history,
04:30and it involves a jolly rancher.
04:32You swear that you think you didn't get that Saturday Night Live job
04:36because you ate the candy off his desk.
04:38I was a little high.
04:40You showed up high for the meeting with Lauren?
04:43A little bit.
04:43In 1996, Marin was called in by Lauren Michaels
04:46as a potential weekend update replacement for Norm Macdonald.
04:49During their meeting, Marin became frozen with indecision
04:53over whether to take a piece of candy from the bowl sitting on Michael's desk.
04:56He eventually caved.
04:58Till today, Marin is convinced that single decision cost him the job.
05:02You saw the candy.
05:03You grabbed a piece of candy.
05:04I took a jolly rancher, and I put it in my mouth,
05:07and I swear in my memory, Higgins and Lauren looked at each other like,
05:10That's it. He's out.
05:11He took the jolly rancher.
05:12Yeah, he took the jolly rancher.
05:12That's it. It's over.
05:13Whether myth or reality, the rejection lingered.
05:16Years later, Marin reinvented himself through his WTF podcast,
05:20becoming one of the most respected interviewers in comedy
05:23and building a career far more personal than SNL might have allowed.
05:26The one thing that we did was always keep it audio,
05:29so then we were kind of, it's harder to clip audio.
05:33Correct.
05:33And the people that listen to my show are in for the whole conversation.
05:39Number 16, Nick Kroll.
05:40Nick Kroll's SNL audition came during a particularly competitive year,
05:44alongside future heavyweights like Jordan Peele and John Mulaney.
05:48By his own account, the audition itself went smoothly,
05:51but it just wasn't enough to secure a spot.
05:53And I get out there, and Lauren Michaels was sort of like,
05:58They're in the bathroom.
05:59And I was like, What? They're outside.
06:01And I go, What?
06:02He goes, They're outside.
06:03I go, Are they out there talking about how great I am?
06:05And he was like, No.
06:07For someone who grew up idolizing the show, that could have been deflating.
06:10Instead, Kroll doubled down on developing his own comedic voice.
06:14That persistence paid off with projects like Kroll Show
06:16and the massively successful animated series Big Mouth,
06:19where his character work found the perfect playground.
06:22So I should find the prettiest girl in school and ask her out?
06:25Bingo, bango, furry triangle, if you know what I'm saying.
06:30I think I do.
06:31Thanks, Duke.
06:32Happy to help, little big guy.
06:34Kroll has also racked up appearances in various films and TV shows.
06:38Not bad for a guy who couldn't get past Lauren's front door.
06:41It all worked out as it was supposed to.
06:43I think I ended up on the league the next year,
06:45and I auditioned the same year as John Mulaney and Jordan Peele.
06:50John got hired as a writer there.
06:53Jordan has gone on to do nothing.
06:55Number 15.
06:56Tiffany Haddish.
06:57Let me get three shots of whiskey with a Coke to chase.
07:00Coke zero of them.
07:01I'm watching my fig.
07:03Dina, you know this is only an hour flight.
07:06Oh, well then in that case, let me go ahead and get those three shots now,
07:09and then bring me a shot of Bailey's once we get them to cruise now to two.
07:12When SNL was actively searching for an African-American woman to add to the cast in 2013,
07:17Tiffany Haddish threw her name in.
07:19At the time, she was still an upcoming comic who had only booked guest appearances on a few comedy shows.
07:24And I was like, who does that?
07:26You know, how do you be assertive and in need of assistance all at the same time?
07:31Asking me to make it go down.
07:33She ultimately lost the spot to Sashir Zameda.
07:37Haddish, however, made a bold prediction.
07:39Next time, she'd be hosting.
07:41After Girls Trip made her an international star, she did exactly that.
07:45In 2017, Haddish became the first black female stand-up comic to host SNL,
07:50and she won an Emmy for the episode.
07:52That's why I can't stand about the internet, because it's messing with my fashion game.
07:55I feel like I should be able to wear what I want, when I want, however many times I want,
07:59as long as I Febreze it.
08:01What?
08:01Worth noting, Nicole Byer also unsuccessfully auditioned in that same period,
08:06then went on to host Netflix's Nailed It, which earned her multiple Emmy nominations.
08:10And the buttercream is a little bit like cream cheese.
08:13It was like heavy.
08:15It is, whew.
08:16And I guess I got a hunk of mango you put in there?
08:19Yes.
08:20Because I honestly didn't know what was in my mouth.
08:22Number 14, Paul Rubens.
08:24When Paul Rubens auditioned to join the all-new cast of SNL in 1980,
08:28he reached the final selection process,
08:30but Gilbert Gottfried got the spot instead.
08:32So, uh, what are you in for?
08:33Robbery?
08:34Extortion?
08:34Or murder?
08:35Speeding.
08:38Yeah, uh...
08:39Yeah, I was speeding away from a banker robbed.
08:44Rubens did not take it quietly.
08:46He told the San Francisco Chronicle that he believed Gottfried was favored
08:49because of his friendship with a producer,
08:51adding that he was, quote,
08:52so bitter and angry.
08:54But bitterness in this case turned into fuel.
08:56Rather than wait around,
08:58Rubens borrowed money,
08:59produced his own stage show,
09:00and developed the Pee-Wee Herman character from the ground up.
09:15He eventually brought him to the big screen in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
09:18and to TV with Pee-Wee's Playhouse.
09:20The character remained Rubens' most iconic creation
09:23right up until his passing in July 2023.
09:40Number 13.
09:42Kumail Nanjiani
09:43Kumail Nanjiani wasn't even sure he should audition for SNL.
09:46If someone yells at me,
09:48go back to India,
09:49I'd be like,
09:50that guy's an idiot.
09:51But if someone was like,
09:53go back to Pakistan,
09:54which was part of India until 1947
09:56and is now home to the world's oldest salt mine,
10:00I would be like,
10:01that guy seems to know what he's talking about.
10:05I'll pack my bags.
10:06Known more for stand-up than character work,
10:08he stepped outside his comfort zone
10:10after he was encouraged to audition by the producers of Portlandia,
10:13the show he was working on.
10:14His audition leaned heavily on stand-up,
10:17which didn't quite align with what SNL was looking for at the time.
10:20As a result,
10:21he was not hired.
10:22Jesus Christ, man.
10:23I could barely stand next to you when you're in your towel.
10:25I don't want to have a threesome with you.
10:27I'm not talking about a threesome.
10:29Listen,
10:30I don't even have to be in the room,
10:31unless that's better for you.
10:32Okay,
10:33no,
10:33I don't.
10:36Nanjiani didn't pivot away from his strengths,
10:38however.
10:39Instead,
10:39he refined them,
10:40eventually landing a regular role on Silicon Valley
10:43and co-writing The Big Sick,
10:45which earned him an Oscar nomination.
10:47What are you doing here?
10:49Jesse called me
10:50and wanted me to make sure
10:52you were okay.
10:57So how are you doing?
10:58Fine.
10:58I'm totally fine.
10:59Never been better.
11:00A thousand percent fine.
11:02How does superhero role in Marvel's Eternals
11:04and the trajectory speaks for itself?
11:06Number 12,
11:07Jennifer Coolidge.
11:08You don't really know who you are,
11:10ever,
11:11really,
11:11you know,
11:11in an objective point,
11:13you know,
11:13sort of perspective,
11:14but then you see people
11:16and you're like,
11:16that's who I am?
11:18The SNL audition room in 1995
11:20was stacked.
11:21Jennifer Coolidge went in
11:22alongside Will Ferrell,
11:24Sherry Oteri,
11:25and Chris Kattan,
11:25and only two of them got the call.
11:27Six months after Ferrell and Oteri were hired,
11:30Kattan also got a call back,
11:31but Coolidge didn't.
11:32Were there people from the Groundlings
11:33that you auditioned with that day
11:35that did not get on Saturday Night Live?
11:37Jennifer Coolidge.
11:38She's really funny.
11:39The mom in American Pie.
11:40And she didn't get in?
11:41No.
11:41And was she like distraught?
11:43I mean,
11:43that all you guys made it
11:44and she didn't?
11:45Yeah.
11:45Rather than spiraling,
11:47she went in a completely different direction,
11:49becoming a beloved presence
11:50in Christopher Guest's ensemble films
11:52and building a reputation
11:53as one of comedy's
11:54most reliable performers.
11:56Years later,
11:57The White Lotus handed her
11:58a full-on renaissance moment,
12:00earning her two Primetime Emmy Awards.
12:02Please!
12:03These gays!
12:04They're trying to murder me!
12:08Me capiche?
12:10Yes.
12:11Coolidge has since reflected
12:12that SNL might not have suited her at all.
12:15And looking at that Emmy shelf,
12:16it's hard to argue.
12:18Number 11.
12:19Zach Galifianakis.
12:20Getting rejected by SNL
12:21and then getting hired by SNL
12:23in the same breath
12:24is a very specific kind of experience.
12:26And Zach Galifianakis knows it well.
12:28The only time it's good to yell out
12:29I have diarrhea
12:31is when you're playing Scrabble.
12:38Because it's worth a crap load of points.
12:40After his 1999 audition
12:42didn't land him a cast spot,
12:44the show liked him enough
12:45to bring him on,
12:45but only as a part-time writer
12:47for a handful of episodes.
12:49It was a foot in the door
12:50that never quite opened all the way.
12:52I just want you to know
12:53I would make a great best friend.
12:54We could go to the movies.
12:56We could share jeans.
12:58We could shower together
13:00even though I wouldn't look down.
13:01I would want to.
13:03But he eventually walked through
13:04a much bigger one.
13:06A decade after his audition,
13:07The Hangover made Galifianakis
13:09a global comedy star.
13:10And he returned to SNL
13:12not as a cast member,
13:13but as a host.
13:14He has now hosted three times
13:16in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
13:19And every time he says
13:21the musical guest is Hoopastank.
13:22It's a tiny Asian dude
13:24locked in my trunk
13:25and Mike Tyson's looking
13:26for a stolen tiger.
13:28Is that what you want, huh?
13:30Because this here is real!
13:32That's definitely the hangover.
13:33Yeah!
13:34John Goodman is beloved
13:37for playing Dan Conner
13:39on Roseanne and the Conners,
13:40as well as roles in films
13:42like The Big Lebowski
13:43and The Emperor's New Groove.
13:45Sure, I'll do what I can.
13:47But he didn't quite cut it for SNL.
13:49Goodman was in the running
13:50for the show's sixth season
13:51and narrowly missed out,
13:53being passed over
13:54for Joe Piscopo.
13:55Hello, my name's Paulie Herman.
13:58Nice to meet you.
13:59I'm from Jersey.
14:01However, there don't seem
14:02to be many hard feelings
14:04between the actor and the show.
14:05So far, he's hosted
14:06over a dozen times
14:08and has made several cameos,
14:09including multiple appearances
14:11as Linda Tripp.
14:12You betrayed your friend
14:13by taping private phone conversations.
14:17I don't want to talk about that.
14:19Now that's what we call
14:20a good man.
14:22Number nine,
14:23Aubrey Plaza.
14:24Aubrey Plaza's deadpan
14:26comedic stylings
14:26seem like they'd be perfect
14:28for contrasting
14:29the more exaggerated mannerisms
14:30of other SNL cast members.
14:32Every time someone calls
14:33and requests a meeting with you,
14:35I always schedule it
14:36for March 31st.
14:37Why?
14:38Because I didn't think
14:39March 31st existed.
14:41But the Parks and Recreation star
14:42was turned down by the show.
14:44Plaza had worked on the show
14:45as an intern,
14:46but when it came time
14:47to actually audition
14:48for the 34th season,
14:50something apparently
14:51didn't click.
14:52They're called jobs,
14:53something a f***ing ball
14:54like you wouldn't know
14:54anything about.
14:55In a 2012 interview,
14:57Plaza said she had wanted
14:58to be on SNL for,
14:59quote,
14:59as long as she could remember.
15:01So while the rejection
15:03likely stung,
15:04Plaza was still,
15:05thankfully,
15:06able to share
15:07her comedic talents
15:07with the world.
15:08Yeah, I'll go.
15:09I'll be into that.
15:10In 2023,
15:12Plaza hosted SNL
15:13for the first time
15:14and earned rave reviews
15:16for her performance
15:16in the episode.
15:17I am so happy to be here.
15:19This is a dream come true.
15:20And yes,
15:21I mean that.
15:23I know sometimes
15:25when I try to be sincere,
15:26it can come off
15:27as sarcastic,
15:28but I care!
15:30Number 8.
15:30Mindy Kaling
15:31Like many other comedians,
15:33Kaling has cited
15:34SNL as an influence,
15:35and she's also guest-written
15:37for some of an episode.
15:39You like it?
15:39I love it.
15:40I mean,
15:41I get to bring life
15:42into this world.
15:43She was given the chance
15:44to audition in 2006,
15:45but the show
15:46ultimately turned her down.
15:48This was while she was making
15:49the second season
15:50of The Office.
15:51So,
15:51if things had gone differently,
15:53we might have had
15:54a mostly Kelly-less office.
15:56Kaling has appeared
15:57in a what-up-with-that sketch,
15:58but she has yet
15:59to host the show.
16:00I want to thank my guest,
16:01the wonderful Al Gore,
16:06secret freak Mindy Kaling,
16:11and yet another apology
16:12to Lindsey Buckingham,
16:13who was bumped once again.
16:15With the talent she possesses
16:16as both a performer
16:17and a writer,
16:18Haling is definitely
16:19long overdue.
16:21Number 7.
16:22Jordan Peele
16:23Anyone who's seen
16:24Key and Peele
16:25knows that Jordan Peele
16:27is excellent
16:27at sketch comedy
16:28and that he does
16:30a great Barack Obama impression.
16:32I just want to reiterate
16:33our unflinching support
16:34for all people
16:35and their right
16:36to a democratic process.
16:37Hey,
16:38all y'all dictators out there,
16:39keep messing around
16:40and see what happens.
16:41Just see what happens.
16:42Watch.
16:43But,
16:44before co-starring
16:45in his own show,
16:46Peele auditioned
16:47to play Obama
16:47in 2008,
16:48the same year
16:49Fred Armisen was cast.
16:51Peele was already
16:52a veteran of sketch comedy
16:53as a cast member
16:54of MAD TV
16:55with Keegan-Michael Key.
16:56Oh,
16:57he got handcuffs,
16:58baby,
16:58that's kinky.
17:01You have the right
17:01to remain silent.
17:02you got the right
17:03to remain sexy,
17:04baby.
17:04So,
17:05it's not like
17:05he wouldn't be able
17:06to handle the pressure.
17:07And,
17:08it's still absurd
17:08they cast Armisen
17:09as Obama
17:10considering,
17:11you know,
17:11he's not black.
17:12What do you think
17:13Luther would have
17:14to say about this?
17:15Please test me
17:16and see what happens.
17:17Number 6.
17:18Stephen Colbert
17:20Not many TV hosts
17:22can say
17:22they've achieved success
17:23portraying real
17:24and fictionalized
17:25versions of themselves,
17:26but Stephen Colbert
17:27is a special case.
17:28Now,
17:29when I first learned
17:30about an app
17:30that boils down
17:31all your communication
17:32into two letters,
17:33I expressed myself
17:34in one.
17:35Why?
17:37The host of
17:38The Colbert Report
17:38and The Late Show
17:39was apparently
17:40not quite up to snuff
17:41for SNL,
17:42at least not as a performer.
17:44Colbert came to audition
17:45in 1992
17:46after SNL writer
17:47Robert Smigel
17:48saw him perform
17:49as a member
17:49of Chicago's
17:50Second City troupe.
17:51It's,
17:52it's Yeet.
17:54Is it Yeet?
17:56Yeet?
17:56Is that Yeet?
17:57I think, yeah, Yeet.
17:58But he was not
17:59the show's first choice
18:00and series creator
18:02Lorne Michaels
18:02turned him down.
18:04Colbert did later
18:05contribute some
18:05freelance writing
18:06before becoming
18:07a household name.
18:08He wasn't ready then,
18:09but a spot
18:10just opened up.
18:12I'd like to talk to him,
18:13see if he's got
18:14what it takes.
18:15I've been told
18:16he's made
18:16some progress
18:17in the business.
18:18Please welcome
18:19a Stephen Colbert.
18:21Michaels later
18:22expressed some remorse
18:23about his decision
18:24to not cast Colbert.
18:25Yeah,
18:26we would too.
18:27Number 5.
18:28Gina Davis
18:28There's really
18:30no telling
18:31what exactly
18:31will happen
18:32with rejected
18:33SNL auditioners.
18:41Some fade into obscurity
18:42right away
18:43and others
18:44go on to win Oscars.
18:45Five years
18:46before taking home
18:47the Best Supporting
18:48Actress trophy
18:49for The Accidental Tourist,
18:50Gina Davis auditioned
18:51for SNL's
18:5210th season.
18:53We just got on
18:53like a house of fire.
18:55Seems you took a shine
18:56to me.
18:56I couldn't say why.
18:57Cast member
18:58Harry Shearer
18:59described it
18:59as being
19:03Pamela Stevenson
19:04ended up with
19:05Davis' spot
19:05on the show.
19:06But Davis
19:07became a bona fide
19:08movie star
19:08and hosted the show
19:10in 1989.
19:18We definitely think
19:20she got the better
19:21end of the stick there.
19:22Number 4.
19:23Donald Glover
19:24Donald Glover
19:26has one of the
19:27most enviable
19:28resumes of any
19:29artist working
19:30today.
19:30With hit movies,
19:32hit TV shows
19:33and hit singles.
19:34What up?
19:38Yo.
19:39So why didn't
19:40he make it
19:41on SNL?
19:42When Glover
19:42was working
19:43as a writer
19:43on 30 Rock,
19:44he auditioned
19:45specifically
19:46to play
19:46then-presidential
19:47candidate
19:47Barack Obama
19:48for the show's
19:4933rd season.
19:50And as we mentioned,
19:51the part went
19:52to Fred Armisen.
19:53This might have
19:53been a blessing
19:54in disguise
19:54as the 33rd season
19:56was largely truncated
19:57due to the ongoing
19:58writer's strike.
19:59What is going on
20:00in there?
20:01Why?
20:02What is taking
20:03so long?
20:05I've wasted
20:06all day
20:07here
20:08for you
20:09the Soul Train
20:11awards for the night.
20:13Donald Glover
20:14hosted the show
20:14in season 43
20:15and performed
20:16under his musical
20:17alter ego
20:18Childish Gambino.
20:19So now
20:20who's laughing?
20:22Not me.
20:23Is there anything
20:24he can't do?
20:26Number 3
20:26Lisa Kudrow
20:27The people
20:29who are asked
20:29to audition
20:30for SNL
20:30are all understood
20:32to be talented,
20:32but sometimes
20:34things just
20:34don't go their way.
20:35That's what happened
20:36when future Friends star
20:37Lisa Kudrow
20:38missed out on joining
20:39the show's 16th season cast.
20:41I think we should
20:41go back out there
20:42as ourselves
20:43and just have fun
20:45like we always do.
20:46A member of famed
20:47Los Angeles comedy troupe
20:49The Groundlings,
20:50Kudrow was vying for a spot
20:51with fellow member
20:52Julia Sweeney,
20:53who was ultimately cast.
20:55Regarding her
20:55showcase audition,
20:57Kudrow described herself
20:58as quote,
20:58unnerved
20:59and clearly
21:00not ready.
21:01Nervous?
21:02Me?
21:03No.
21:03You?
21:04No.
21:04I want this to happen.
21:08So do I.
21:09But she didn't give up
21:10and a few years later,
21:11she established herself
21:12as one of the funniest
21:13people in entertainment.
21:15You know,
21:15this is really great.
21:17Yeah.
21:17Yeah, we should really
21:18do this more often.
21:19Yeah, I'd like that.
21:19Number 2
21:20Kevin Hart
21:21So far,
21:23Kevin Hart
21:23has hosted SNL
21:24three times
21:25and we expect
21:26many more hosting gigs
21:27to come.
21:28God, it feels good
21:28to be back in Newark,
21:29people.
21:29It feels so good.
21:31So,
21:31how does someone
21:32with so much
21:33clear talent
21:34and comedic energy
21:35not get cast?
21:37According to Hart,
21:38it was his choice
21:39of impression.
21:39In an interview
21:40with Conan O'Brien,
21:42Hart said he spoofed
21:43Avery Johnson,
21:44basketball coach
21:45and previous point guard
21:46for the San Antonio Spurs.
21:47What?
21:48Exactly.
21:49You see everybody's face?
21:50Uh,
21:51I did an impression
21:52of a person
21:53that nobody knew.
21:54Lorne Michaels
21:54was reportedly
21:55clueless
21:56about who
21:56Johnson was
21:57and Hart
21:58was rejected
21:59by SNL.
22:00Maybe he should've
22:01done his Shaq
22:01impression instead.
22:02Every dog
22:03has his day
22:03but it's night time
22:04no time for dogs
22:06dogs are asleep
22:07so it's cat time
22:08cats come out
22:09at night
22:09freaks come out
22:11at night
22:11Shaq a freak.

22:42Jim Carrey
22:43Not only was Jim Carrey
22:46a man whose comedic energy
22:47could wreck the Richter scale
22:49turned down by SNL
22:51he was turned down twice.
22:55He first auditioned
22:56for the show's sixth season
22:57its first without creator
22:59Lorne Michaels.
23:00Carrey tried again
23:01for season 11
23:02but was again rejected.
23:04Michaels says that Carrey
23:06never personally auditioned
23:07for him
23:08which seems like
23:09a pretty good way
23:10to save face
23:10for such a blunder.
23:13Now I feel better.
23:15The rubber-faced Carrey
23:16later found a home
23:17on another sketch show
23:18in Living Color.
23:23And his success
23:24as a movie star
23:25eventually brought him
23:26to the SNL stage.
23:27And a toast
23:28to the greatest family
23:29anybody could ever have.
23:31To the Carys.
23:33Success really is
23:34the best revenge.
