Transcript
00:00I love your charisma.
00:01Nick, I love your lion's heart.
00:05Nick, I love your sense of humor.
00:08Dry and marbled like a quality beefsteak.
00:12Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:14And today we're counting down our picks for the guest appearances on NBC's Saturday Night Live
00:19that came out of nowhere to shock audiences.
00:21Nothing comes in from Mexico, meaning a lot less competition for the rest of us.
00:27You mean jobs?
00:30Sure.
00:32Number 50, Mike Myers.
00:35We love your outfit.
00:36Very official and respectful.
00:38And I love when he gets that chainsaw right next to my head.
00:42Oh, thanks.
00:44Donald, what are you doing in my office?
00:48You know I'm the president now, right?
00:52I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
00:54Okay, maybe not.
00:56This isn't the last time you'll see this beloved SNL alum appear on our list today.
01:00Nor will it be the last time you'll see him play an evil genius, but more on that later.
01:04For now, we're focusing on Myers' left field cameo as the world's richest man.
01:08I'm so comfortable with all of that.
01:19I really enjoy everything you're doing with Doge, Elon.
01:23Well, they're saying I'm firing people with no cause.
01:28But I do have cause.
01:31It's cause I feel like it.
01:33Come on!
01:34In a sketch parodying a truly disastrous meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and his
01:39Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, Myers unexpectedly popped up as Elon Musk.
01:44Passing resemblance aside, the Wayne's World and Austin Powers star is the perfect marriage
01:48of actor and subject, with Myers' knack for zany physical comedy embodying Musk's, well,
01:53let's call them eccentricities.
01:55Phase one of my plan is complete.
01:57Ingratiate yourself to the president and take over the media.
02:01But was taking this job a bad idea?
02:03A lot of people seem to really hate me.
02:06My Tesla stock is crashing and my personal net worth just dropped by $100 billion.
02:13Number 49, Jesse Pinkman.
02:16Now, here's a young man from New Mexico with a heartbreaking story about healthcare before
02:22the affordable care end.
02:23So, um, Jesse, can you come up here?
02:31Remember the Breaking Bad fever that swept the globe in the AMC crime drama's final season?
02:36Like Beatlemania for hardened meth kingpins, Breaking Bad was seemingly everywhere in 2013,
02:42even on the SNL mainstage.
02:43The cold open of the 39th season premiere featured Jay Farrow reprising his scary good
02:48Barack Obama impression to espouse the values of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.
02:53The president brings out a motley crew of Americans who give testimonials as to Obamacare's awesomeness.
02:58I have this friend, you know, and he got sick, like cancer sick.
03:05But because there was an Obamacare, he couldn't afford the treatments.
03:09So he was like backed into a corner, you know what I mean?
03:12Uh, and keep in mind, this man was a teacher with a family.
03:17One of those Americans?
03:18Multiple Emmy winner Aaron Paul, reprising his role as Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman.
03:23Pinkman shares a very familiar story about the consequences of a lack of affordable healthcare.
03:28But given that the show's series finale aired the next day, declines to give away the ending.
03:33He did what any of us would have done.
03:36He started cooking meth.
03:37Okay, all right now, now hold on.
03:40And soon it wasn't just meth, it was, it was murder, you know?
03:44And not regular murder, like he blew half a guy's face off.
03:48Okay, I think we can probably wrap this up.
03:51Uh, Jesse from New Mexico, everybody.
03:53Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
03:54You don't want to know what happened to my friend?
03:56No, no, no, no.
03:59Number 48, Ryan Reynolds and Tracy Morgan.
04:02I'm sorry, one second.
04:04Um, excuse me, but you, you look a lot like Ryan Reynolds.
04:17Yeah, I get that a lot.
04:22Is it you?
04:23Yes, it's me.
04:25When former cast member Will Ferrell hosts, all bets are off.
04:29Take this season 45 monologue, for instance.
04:32Although the actor's efforts to rile up the crowd seem to go off without a hitch,
04:35he's almost immediately derailed by the distracting presence of his spirited co-star, Ryan Reynolds.
04:40And you came to the show because...
04:42To see you, like I said, we're big fans, so, you know, I just...
04:45We're, like, like we, who's we?
04:48My wife and I were...
04:49You mean Blake Lively?
04:51Yes.
04:52And she's watching, too?
04:54Yeah, she's at home, but yeah.
04:56And she likes me, too?
05:00Probably more than me.
05:01Not only is the dreamy Deadpool star distracting in and of himself,
05:05Spirited wouldn't come out for another three years after this sketch aired,
05:08making it even more surprising that the two were pals.
05:11Ferrell's rhythm is completely thrown off, and he only digs his hole deeper and deeper.
05:16Once he starts doing a Tracy Morgan impression,
05:18the real Morgan steps in to bail him out of his awkward encounter.
05:21Phew.
05:22The prophecy!
05:25Oh, my goodness.
05:26Thank you, Tracy.
05:27I feel so much better.
05:28Anything for you, Ferrell?
05:32Would you talk like me again, I'm gonna bust your ass.
05:34As you should.
05:35Yes, yes.
05:36Number 47, Jim Gaffigan.
05:39Folks, I haven't been this excited since I got a 10% rebate on a leaf blower from Menards.
05:47What can I say?
05:48I got that BDE.
05:51Big dad energy.
05:54You see what I did there?
05:55You get it?
05:55I got it.
05:56I didn't want it, but I got it.
05:57In the run-up to the 2024 United States presidential election, there was only one question on the
06:02nation's mind.
06:03If Maya Rudolph is playing Vice President Kamala Harris on SNL, then who would be taking on the
06:08role of her genial folksy running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz?
06:12While big names like Steve Martin and Jason Sudeikis were floated, with Martin even admitting
06:16that he turned down Lorne Michaels' offer, the part ultimately went, rather unexpectedly,
06:20to comedian Jim Gaffigan.
06:22You know, Trump and Vance are weird, alright?
06:25They want the government to control what you do in your bedroom and what books you read.
06:30You know, in Minnesota we have a saying, mind your damn business.
06:37We also have another saying in Minnesota, my nuts froze to the park.
06:43The choice came as a surprise to SNL fans, given that Gaffigan had no prior connection
06:48to the show.
06:49Nevertheless, Gaffigan's Walz impression, which the comedian has since revealed is based
06:53on his brother, was a hit, and he returned for a series of cameos.
06:57I gotta be honest here, folks.
06:59When Kamala Harris called me and asked me to be her vice president, I said, uh, yeah!
07:07This is personal for me.
07:08I love this country.
07:10And as a former teacher, I need the money.
07:15Number 46, Joe Jonas.
07:17I'm tired.
07:18It's getting dark.
07:19I'm leaving.
07:20I'm leaving!
07:21No!
07:22Yes!
07:24Yes!
07:26Believe in yourself.
07:29Believe in the line.
07:31You deserve this viral Greek yogurt.
07:34For the child Lisa Renner's wine.
07:36By now, chances are you've heard of the whole Morgan Wallen, get-me-to-God's-country controversy.
07:41For the uninitiated, the country singer was booked for his second SNL gig on the 50th season's
07:4615th episode hosted by Oscar winner Mikey Madison.
07:49Rumors swirled that Wallen had clashed with the show's cast and crew, and savvy internet
07:54commentators pointed to a pre-taped sketch in which he had declined a role that was written
07:58for him.
07:59Scrambling to find a replacement, the SNL team settled on the middle Jo-Bro.
08:03So don't give up.
08:04The rewards will be splendid.
08:06Did Amelia Earhart give up?
08:08I'm not sure how that ended.
08:09But she'd want you too.
08:13Okay, fine.
08:15Wait in the big fat line.
08:16Wallen, meanwhile, created further controversy upon his abrupt exit from the SNL goodbyes.
08:21Number 45.
08:23Charlie Day
08:23Now, Ms. Tucker, I believe you had a witness you wanted to call?
08:27That's right.
08:28I called Congressman Fenton Worthington Carey.
08:31All right.
08:33Yeah, okay.
08:40You swear you're gonna tell the truth?
08:42Nothing but the truth, babe.
08:45Oh, hell yeah!
08:46Was anyone else pumped to see this impromptu horrible bosses reunion on SNL?
08:50Well, maybe it's just us, but either way, it's hard to deny the hilarity engineered by
08:54the grouping of Jason Sudeikis, Jamie Foxx, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star
08:58day.
08:59Now, Congressman Carey, what do you did see up in there?
09:03Oh, I see this fool.
09:04He been running his water all day.
09:06Yeah.
09:07Yeah, like he's trying to dig up the whole bayou or something.
09:10I be like, hey, hey, what you trying to make a fool out of?
09:15You know what, let's have one talk rule that, my man, because ain't nobody make a fool
09:19out of the good people of Maine, stabbed in the law themselves?
09:22That's right.
09:23In line with the Maine Justice sketch's recurring premise, cast member Bobby Moynihan plays
09:27an out-of-towner who has the misfortune of winding up in a wildly colorful, weirdly
09:31Cajun courtroom.
09:33Antagonized by Foxx and Sudeikis' respective bailiff and judge, Moynihan's character is pushed
09:37further into a corner by Day's local congressman, whose near incomprehensible speech doesn't
09:42bode well for the defendant.
09:44Well, maybe we're part of some kind of courtroom change program, baby.
09:50Yeah, or maybe there's a space-time portal and we spend half our time in Maine and half
09:55in New Orleans, and we've started to mix the two up.
09:58That's what it is.
09:59Number 44, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms.
10:02Let's just end this pathetic charade.
10:05Who's the big winner?
10:05Come on, let's hear it.
10:06Well, the winner of the Jennifer Aniston look-alike competition, brought to you by Smartwater.
10:12Oh, and we actually have co-champions.
10:15It's Bradley Cooper and Ted Pelms!
10:21In the face of overwhelming adversity, you just have to believe in yourself, and then react
10:26completely incredulously when you find out you failed.
10:28That's the basic premise of this season 38 sketch, in which episode host Zach Galifianakis
10:33demands answers as to why he's lost a Jennifer Aniston look-alike contest.
10:37You know something?
10:38You're a real jerk.
10:40You know, you may look exactly like Jennifer Aniston.
10:46On the outside.
10:48But on the inside, you're a total Helen Keller.
10:51Yeah.
10:53That's why you got eighth place.
10:55Galifianakis' onstage tantrum is exacerbated when the actual winners take the stage.
10:59That would be Radley Cooper and Ted Pelms, aka Galifianakis' hangover co-stars Bradley Cooper
11:05and Ed Helms.
11:06Eventually, Galifianakis comes around, and a stage full of Aniston Hopefuls belt out
11:11That's What Friends Are For, which they inexplicably seem to think is the Friends theme song.
11:16Keep smiling.
11:17Keep shining.
11:19Knowing you can always count on me.
11:23It's not the Friends theme, guys.
11:24Is that?
11:26That's what friends are for
11:29In good times
11:32Number 43, Jennifer Aniston
11:35Vanessa, Vanessa, what are you doing?
11:39What?
11:40Oh, what?
11:42Hi!
11:43Can you just drop that for a second?
11:47Yeah.
11:49Vanessa?
11:50Vanessa?
11:51Come on.
11:51Oh, sorry, Jen.
11:53What are you doing here?
11:54Hey, another Jennifer Aniston-centric entry?
11:57What a coincidence.
11:58Almost like we planned it that way.
11:59Anyway, this weekend update bit initially seems like an excuse for Vanessa Bayer to trot
12:04out one of her signature impressions.
12:05Not that we're complaining, of course.
12:07Bayer's gift for impressions consistently made her a joy to watch on SNL.
12:11You've gotta really try to stop texting me every day.
12:15Yeah, no, I just texted you, because I thought we could hang, because, I don't know, I think
12:19you're, like, the best.
12:20Oh, that's so sweet, honey.
12:23You are, too.
12:24But, you know, Friends was, like, five million and five years ago, so I think we've just
12:30gotta move on.
12:32Bayer's Rachel Green mercilessly spoofs 90s sitcom trends, at least until the actual Aniston
12:37shows up.
12:37And we're not talking Radley Cooper and Ted Pelms.
12:40Confronting Bayer about her impression, Aniston eventually gives in to the SNL cast member's
12:44fangirling, and the two have a sort of Rachel off.
12:47The 90s are truly forever.
12:49Is it a great fit, though?
12:50I mean...
12:52I mean, all...
12:53It kind of just sounds like all you're doing is, like...
12:56What?
12:57Oh, what?
12:58Me?
12:58Oh, wow.
12:59No.
12:59I didn't...
13:00What?
13:01Yes.
13:01Wow.
13:02Is it like this?
13:03What?
13:03Wow.
13:04No.
13:04No.
13:05What?
13:06Yeah?
13:07What?
13:08No.
13:08I don't do that, babe.
13:10Number 42.
13:11Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.
13:13Have you ever used a lie detector before?
13:16I feel like I have.
13:18Great.
13:20Look, I want you to know I will gladly go to jail to protect Mr. President Trump.
13:26Just relax, Mr. Cohen.
13:31If you're innocent, you have nothing to worry about.
13:34The United States was a wild, chaotic place during the first Trump presidency.
13:39The same could be said of Saturday Night Live around the same time.
13:42With the White House an ongoing media circus, SNL pounced on the news coming out of it with
13:46a cavalcade of high-profile guest stars.
13:48How'd you like that pee-pee tape?
13:52What?
13:54I'm kidding.
13:55Relax.
13:56We'll get to that later.
13:59Is your name Michael Cohen?
14:01Yes.
14:02And you're a lawyer?
14:03Ish.
14:05Two of those recurring stars included Ben Stiller as Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen,
14:10and Oscar winner Robert De Niro as former FBI director Robert Mueller.
14:13The actors, who had appeared on screen together as part of the Fockers franchise, reenacted
14:18a scene from Meet the Parents on SNL.
14:20In character, of course.
14:21Yeah, it's supposed to be a surprise for Stormy, like a gift.
14:25A gift?
14:26Yeah, a gift.
14:27Like a rock you throw through a window with a note tied to it that says stop talking.
14:33So you threaten people?
14:35Directly?
14:35No.
14:36But let's just say I've cut a lot of letters out of a lot of magazines.
14:42Number 41, Adam Sandler.
14:44Doc, the patient is stirring.
14:46Oh my god!
14:47Oh my god!
14:48Oh my god!
14:49Oh my god!
14:49Oh my god!
14:58He's awake!
14:59I am awake.
15:00Of course I'm awake, because I wasn't giving her enough anesthesia.
15:04That actually wasn't me.
15:06If you're at all familiar with the Happy Gilmore and Uncut Gem stars tenure at Saturday
15:10Night Live, then you'll likely know that it ended less than amicably.
15:14Sandler, alongside friend and fellow cast member Chris Farley, was unceremoniously fired
15:19in 1995, and didn't appear on the show again until 2019, when he hosted for the very first
15:25time.
15:26We all know it was you, Lizzie!
15:28You're right, I'll own that.
15:30Yeah, and I heard the way you guys were talking to her, and it's not okay.
15:33Since then, Sandler and series creator Lorne Michaels appear to have patched things up,
15:38with the comedian appearing in this gross-out sketch during a December 2024 episode hosted
15:43by Chris Rock.
15:44Nearly everyone in the sketch broke, and Sandler himself is only partially to blame.
15:49Is Lizzie annoying?
15:51Yes.
15:52If she was a guy, would I punch her in the face?
15:55Yes.
15:56If I were a woman, would I punch her in the face?
15:59Without a doubt.
16:00But every workplace needs a Lizzie.
16:03Number 40.
16:04Sigh.
16:05Looks like we're gonna have to put it in the turbo.
16:08Looks like we're gonna have to put it in the turbo.
16:25Time for another stroll down memory lane.
16:30Remember Gangnam Style?
16:31The song and its accompanying dance craze were, as anyone around in 2012 could have told you,
16:36completely inescapable.
16:45As such, it was fairly easy to predict that SNL would tackle the ubiquitous Korean phenomenon
16:50in some way.
16:51And tackle it they did, in truly spectacular fashion on the season 38 premiere as hosted
16:56by Seth MacFarlane.
16:57What was that?
16:59Are you kidding me, Holmes?
17:01That's Korean rap sensation, Sigh.
17:04A week ago, no one in America knew who he was.
17:06But 200 million YouTube views later, and he's everywhere.
17:09The VMAs, he's number one on iTunes, he was on Ellen.
17:14DJs!
17:15A sketch set at a lid store finds its staff having fun with a button that spontaneously summons
17:20Bobby Moynihan's poorly aged Sigh impression.
17:22Things only escalate, until Sigh himself is unveiled as the sketch's final boss, so to speak.
17:40Number 39, Jake Gyllenhaal.
17:42Did someone say security?
17:50Hello, guy who travels in pajamas?
17:54That's right.
17:54I dressed so that TSA could have easy access to my body.
17:58You have John Mulaney to thank for this weirdly specific cameo.
18:02Mulaney's 2018 sketch Diner Lobster started a series featuring several sequels,
18:07each of which focuses on a food item you just don't order from wherever that particular sketch is set.
18:12In this case, a traveler's attempt to buy airport sushi goes about as well as you would expect.
18:17So if you care to search me, I'll spread my legs real wide.
18:23I'll even bend over for you, you can take a peek inside.
18:29The sketch goes on to poke fun at the often bizarre things one might witness at the airport.
18:33One such oddity is Jake Gyllenhaal's Guy Who Always Travels in Pajamas performing a riff on Wicked's Defying Gravity,
18:40which speaks for itself.
18:41You can tell that I enjoy security.
18:47You can search way up in my cavity.
18:53You can't pat me down.
18:56You don't have to use the front of your hands.
18:59Number 38, Trisha Paytas.
19:01Is this a clip from the podcast?
19:03Hey, my galactic bastards.
19:05My ass is so hard for today's episode.
19:08Our guest is friend of the pod, the iconic Trisha Paytas.
19:16What do we always say, Trisha?
19:17The best bussy is celibacy.
19:21It's kind of an unspoken rule that after the SNL musical guest's second performance,
19:26the show starts to slightly go off the rails.
19:29Such was the case on this December 2024 episode hosted by Gladiator 2 star and Oscar nominee Paul Meskel.
19:35After Shibuzzi performed his smash hit A Bar Song,
19:38four friends touch base and compare their respective Spotify-wrapped playlists.
19:41Spotify-wrapped is not about judging people.
19:45It's about sharing the soundtrack of your life.
19:48And call me crazy, but I think that's something to celebrate.
19:52Did someone say celibate?
19:55Oh my god, Satoshi Gutman?
19:58And Trisha Paytas?
19:59What are you doing here?
20:00Meskel's character brags that anti-instrumentalist sound guru Satoshi Gutman,
20:05as played by Bowen Yang, is his number one artist.
20:07As Meskel's friends try to figure out exactly what that means,
20:10his character pulls up one of the off-kilter Gutman's podcast episodes,
20:14featuring none other than polarizing YouTuber and viral sensation Trisha Paytas.
20:18Me and my King Satoshi, we're just speed walking in the area.
20:21So what do you say, bastards? Should we vibe to some Ace Core?
20:25Yeah!
20:30Number 37. Anderson Cooper.
20:42Bill Hader's departure from SNL was bittersweet for many reasons.
20:45Perhaps chief among them was the fact that it meant Hader's fan-favorite character Stefan
20:49would no longer appear on a semi-regular basis.
20:52Given Stefan's popularity among the show's audience,
20:55SNL succeeded admirably at giving the character a proper send-off.
20:59I love you, Stefan!
21:00I love you, Stefan!
21:02For Weekend Update, we have Seth and Stefan Myers!
21:05Good night!
21:07Keeping in line with the running Weekend Update gag
21:10that Stefan and host Seth Myers were romantically involved,
21:13Stefan dramatically runs off the Weekend Update set after Myers fails to commit.
21:17Myers is convinced by Amy Poehler to chase after Stefan
21:20and prevent him from getting married to CNN's Anderson Cooper,
21:23who is depicted as Myers' mortal enemy.
21:26Get ready for Anderson Cooper.
21:28360.
21:34Number 36. Mark Zuckerberg.
21:36All hail the Zuck!
21:38Woo-hoo-hoo!
21:40Why can't I go in there?
21:41I'm the real Mark Zuckerberg.
21:43Yeah, and I'm pretty sure at least one of those guys is the real Mark Zuckerberg.
21:46No, I am.
21:47That guy's like my evil twin, and that's just Andy Samberg.
21:51Those guys are such nerds.
21:53Come on, I invented poking.
21:54How many Bergs is too many?
21:56That's what this January 2011 episode hosted by Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg attempted to find out.
22:02Eisenberg, hosting to promote The Social Network,
22:05in which he plays Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg,
22:08is confronted by Andy Samberg's Zuckerberg impression in his monologue.
22:11You know, Jesse, I don't know if it came out.
22:15What?
22:19Hi.
22:20Thank you for coming here.
22:22Wait.
22:24Have you two not met?
22:26No.
22:26No.
22:28Aukberg!
22:30In a distinctly meta-twist, the real, real Mark Zuckerberg is revealed to be backstage with Lorne Michaels,
22:37who seemingly doubts Zuck's identity.
22:39After the two Bergs compare notes on playing Zuckerberg, Mark and Jesse have a predictably awkward interaction,
22:44in which Zuck reveals his true feelings about The Social Network.
22:48I, uh, really, really, really liked you on 60 Minutes.
22:53Thanks, man.
22:54Thanks.
22:55You ever end up, uh, seeing the film, The Social Network?
22:59Yeah, I did.
23:00Cool.
23:01Oh, thanks.
23:02Uh, and, uh, what did you, uh, what did you think?
23:05It was interesting.
23:06Oh, my God.
23:07Number 35.
23:09Mick Jagger.
23:10Papa!
23:12Ah!
23:14Yo soy tu papa, no me cuerdes!
23:17Oh, damn!
23:18Tu papa is hot!
23:22Respetame!
23:31Two Jagger cameos for the price of one.
23:33What did Lorne Michaels ever do to get so lucky?
23:36When Puerto Rican pop sensation Bad Bunny did Double Duty as host and musical guest in October 2023,
23:41he had a murderer's row of talent backing him up.
23:44Featuring multiple cameos from Pedro Pascal, a pre-taped appearance by Fred Armisen,
23:49and even a drop-in by Lady Gaga.
23:51All were dwarfed by the almost inexplicable appearance of the legendary Rolling Stones frontman
23:55in not one, but two separate sketches.
24:18In the first, Jagger plays Papa to Bad Bunny and Marcelo Hernandez's characters in a telenovela parody.
24:24In the second, he's Sister Kevin, a bad influence to a misbehaving convent of nuns.
24:30Sure, why not?
24:31I was the one who corrupted these poor women with my lips and my hips.
24:38And I was the one who rang the bell with my penis and yelled,
24:43Ding-dong!
24:45Number 34, Tim Kaine.
24:48Hi! I was Hillary Clinton's vice presidential running mate.
24:52At the time, you said it was the most important election in American history,
24:56and that democracy was on the line.
24:59It's been less than eight years.
25:01What's my name?
25:01Former SNL writer John Mulaney is already a classic modern-day SNL host,
25:06and one of the show's fastest to ever hit the revered Five Timers Club.
25:10So you already know that whenever he hosts, it's gonna be must-watch TV.
25:14Case in point, this edition of recurring sketch What's That Name?,
25:17in which Mulaney's character is quizzed on figures of the then-upcoming 2024 election.
25:23I'll give you three options for what his last name was.
25:25Tim Clinton, Tim Tim, or Tim Scott.
25:30Oh, two of those don't sound real.
25:33I'll go with Tim Tim.
25:35Audience, what's that name?
25:37Tim Scott!
25:39It's Tim Kaine!
25:43Who is?
25:44After proclaiming it the most important election in American history,
25:48Mulaney was flabbergasted by the appearance of Virginia Senator
25:51and Hillary Clinton's 2016 running mate, Tim Kaine.
25:54Kaine devastatingly reminds Mulaney that he had also referred to that year's election
25:59as the most important ever.
26:00Oof.
26:01How people forget.
26:02Pictured here are three of the most famous faces on Mount Rushmore.
26:06But who is this guy?
26:09Come on, bring that guy back out.
26:14Ow!
26:15What's my name?
26:15No!
26:17Ow!
26:17Ah!
26:19Ah!
26:20I just told you 90 seconds ago.
26:22Number 33, Dan Crenshaw.
26:25Lieutenant Commander Dan Crenshaw, everyone.
26:27Thank you so much for coming.
26:29Thanks for making a Republican look good.
26:32You gotta stop saying that, man.
26:35You've been saying it all day.
26:38Please.
26:38Look, I just wanted to say, for people that don't know,
26:41the reason you're wearing an eye patch right now is that you lost your eye to an IED in Afghanistan
26:46during your third combat tour.
26:48This is a cameo that came as a shock at the time, but makes all too much sense in retrospect.
26:53In November 2018, Pete Davidson appeared on Weekend Update to roast Republican candidates
26:58in that year's midterm elections.
27:00His joke about former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw landed him in hot water with conservatives,
27:04which led to the only possible way that Davidson could redeem himself.
27:08Last week I made a joke about a picture of you, and I feel like it would only be fair
27:13if you got me back and made fun of a picture of me.
27:16Does that sound okay?
27:16I don't really need to do that.
27:17No, come on.
27:18I deserve it.
27:19Alright, I'll do one.
27:19Please?
27:20Alright.
27:21And now, first impressions with Lieutenant Commander Dan Crenshaw.
27:26Thanks, Colin.
27:27This is Pete Davidson.
27:29He looks like if the meth from Breaking Bad was a person.
27:34That would be getting roasted by Crenshaw himself the following week.
27:38As part of a merciless, unsparing roast fest, Crenshaw compared Davidson to Martin Short's
27:43Jack Frost from The Santa Clause 3, and also referenced the SNL cast member's recent breakup
27:47with pop star Ariana Grande.
27:49So we good?
27:50We're good.
27:51Apology accepted.
27:53Just keep breathing.
27:56It sounds like my phone's ringing.
28:01You gonna answer that?
28:02No, and I was just gonna let it ring, because that's rude to answer it.
28:06Let's just let it go to voicemail.
28:07Nah, it's cool.
28:08Ariana Grande is a lot.
28:10It's cool, man.
28:12Number 32.
28:13Lindsey Buckingham.
28:14Ladies and gentlemen, this is exciting.
28:17Put your hands together for another Lindsey Buckingham!
28:34If Kenan Thompson is gonna be on SNL for the rest of time, then so be it.
28:38But why, then, can't we have more What Up With That?
28:41At one point considered the versatile Thompson's signature sketch, the bit went away with Jason
28:45Sudeikis and Fred Armisen's respective departures from the show.
28:48One of its recurring gags was Bill Hader's non-speaking role as Fleetwood Mac guitarist
28:53Lindsey Buckingham, who would be invited back week after week after consistently being denied
28:57a chance to be interviewed by Thompson's overzealous DeAndre Cole.
29:00And Lindsey Buckingham, who cut his family vacation short to join us.
29:07Finally, a May 2011 episode hosted by Ed Helms allowed the actual Lindsey Buckingham to deliver
29:13a rip-roaring acoustic guitar solo.
29:15Not that Cole seemed interested as to why there were two Lindsey Buckinghams.
29:19After all these years, I never knew there were two Lindsey Buckinghams.
29:24How did this happen?
29:27She'll let him talk, man. He would've told you.
29:30I'm sorry, Lindsey's. Can you ever forgive me?
29:34Come on, Lindsey's.
29:36There you go, Lindsey's. That's what I'm talking about.
29:39Alright.
29:40Number 31.
29:41Stormy Daniels.
29:43Stormy!
29:44This is Michael Cohen. Are you alone?
29:47Yes.
29:48And what are you wearing?
29:51Excuse me?
29:54Okay, Michael. I can take it from here.
29:56Okay, but as your attorney, I highly advise against you to...
30:02So what up, girl?
30:04Originating from yet another first-term Trump-era sketch with a boatload of celebrity cameos,
30:08it was almost hard to choose who to pick.
30:10From Martin Short's boorish Harold Bornstein to Jimmy Fallon and Scarlett Johansson's slimy Jared and Ivanka,
30:16this season 43 cold open had everything going for it.
30:19Come on, Stormy, stop making such a big deal about this. Everyone knows it's just an act.
30:24I work in adult films. We're not really known for our acting.
30:29Just tell me, what do you need for this to all go away?
30:33A resignation.
30:35Yeah, right.
30:37Being president is like doing porn. Once you do it, it's hard to do anything else.
30:41Airing in the dead heat of the former adult film star's legal battle with President Trump,
30:45the studio audience's bewildered reaction to Daniel's appearance pretty much says it all.
30:50While a storm wasn't exactly a coming, as we all know now, Stormy felt like a major, especially topical get
30:56for the show.
30:57Sorry, Donald, it's too late for that. I know you don't believe in climate change, but a storm's a coming,
31:03baby.
31:09I've never been so scared and so horny at the same time.
31:13And live from New York, it's Sunday night.
31:16Number 30. Daniel Craig.
31:18When Rami Malek and Kenan Thompson audition to play a music icon, they try to match Prince's singular energy.
31:24So the only way to settle this is to have a Prince-off.
31:27A Prince-off, sir?
31:28What the hell is a Prince-off?
31:30The two each put their own spin on the musician until Daniel Craig interrupts them.
31:34Thinking he's auditioning to play a literal Prince, the James Bond star arrives in his own silly outfit.
31:39Sorry, sorry, Daniel Craig.
31:42To audition for the part of the Prince.
31:43The British performer is also game for anything with a goofy appearance.
31:47He's not afraid to make fun of himself, showing that he doesn't take his profession too seriously.
31:51His impressions end up winning over the audience in a major way.
31:55Stealing the sketch and the role, Craig reminds people of his comedy chops.
31:59How was that?
32:00That was bad.
32:01But you're James Bond, so you got the part.
32:05Number 29. Glenn Powell.
32:07In this monologue, Sidney Sweeney pokes fun at her celebrity status and personal life.
32:12One of the funniest moments comes when she addresses her rumored affair with co-star Glenn Powell.
32:16That's obviously not true.
32:20Me and my fiancé produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot.
32:25This leads to a hilarious cutaway, with Powell there to deliver a silent performance.
32:29He even came here tonight to support me. Can we, uh, cut to him?
32:33It's nice to see these Anyone But You stars still working together and playing pranks on their fans.
32:37Turning their fake relationship into a joke, both stars find a way to laugh off the tabloids.
32:42They aren't a couple in real life, but they certainly have enough chemistry to pull off this moment.
32:50Number 28. Mark Hamill.
32:52On this home shopping show, the presenters try to sell off Star Wars collectibles.
32:56The segment then takes a shocking and hilarious turn when they bring out Mark Hamill.
33:00How's it going everybody?
33:02Now how much is this item going for?
33:03Beautiful line.
33:04Appearing to be a hostage, the actor tries to go along with this ridiculous situation.
33:08Hamill has to contend with the inept hosts and even deliver some memorable quotes.
33:13Just play ball Hamill.
33:14Let's do it.
33:15Just play ball.
33:15Alright.
33:17Luke, I am your father.
33:26Uh, I'm sorry man, that sucked.
33:29There are a few more surprises as the sketch continues, including an entertaining interaction with Harrison Ford.
33:34The Luke Skywalker performer gets to show off some of his vocal impressions and joke about his breakthrough role.
33:40With this enjoyable premise, the guest helps to satirize crazed fan bases with this appearance.
33:45Are you sure that's really Hamill?
33:47We guarantee.
33:48Oh, come on.
33:48Of course it's me.
33:49We worked together three times.
33:51Come on.
33:51What the hell?
33:54I'll take him.
33:56Alright!
33:57Number 27.
33:58Travis Kelsey
33:59On this sports program, the presenters mention the prevalence of Taylor Swift at NFL games.
34:04The guys then go off the rails mentioning various references to the musician, her relationships, and her music catalog.
34:10It's so early, you're treating it like it's Joe all over again.
34:14That won't end well.
34:15Didn't you listen to karma?
34:17What?
34:18Karma's not about Joe!
34:20It all culminates in a funny cameo from Travis Kelsey.
34:23The latter just wants to talk football, but only has a brief moment at the end to say his piece.
34:28When we get back, we are going to speak with someone who actually wants to talk football.
34:34Yes!
34:35Please!
34:37Kelsey adds a ton of charisma to the sketch as he avoids talking about his high profile romance with Swift.
34:42It's even more surprising to see the athlete show up as the partnership hit viral status.
34:47Number 26.
34:48Julia Stiles
34:49Appearing on Weekend Update to discuss holiday gift ideas, Chloe Fineman offers up a unique substitute to the usual cliches.
34:56The perfect holiday gift this year is the dance that Julia Stiles does at the end of the 2001 movie,
35:03Save the Last Dance.
35:06She reenacts a scene from Save the Last Dance with all of its unintentionally hilarious details.
35:11Fineman also welcomes the film star Julia Stiles to help her complete the routine.
35:16So does she get into Juilliard?
35:18Yes!
35:21Fans of the 2001 movie will enjoy the performer's strange moves, not to mention the bizarre context behind the entire
35:27performance.
35:28Stiles steps in with all the confidence of her original role.
35:31Her appearance elevates this segment into a goofy and nostalgic takedown of the teen romance.
35:36Okay, so, Colin, what did you think?
35:39Well, I can't say this on the record yet, but welcome to Juilliard.
35:43Yay!
35:44Number 25.
35:46Nicolas Cage
35:46In a recurring segment, Andy Samberg plays Nicolas Cage and welcomes other actors to chat about his profession.
35:53This time, he welcomes the real man in a fun subversion of the premise.
35:57Well, good evening, Nick. You're looking very well tonight.
36:01Well, that's very kind of you, Nick.
36:05You look great, too.
36:06Cage plays along with Samberg's impression, but he also throws out some hilarious critiques.
36:11The star takes aim at his co-star's exaggerated features and over-the-top delivery.
36:15This Nick is calm and stealthy like a ninja warrior.
36:19Whereas this Nick is an exaggerated, screaming psychopath, just doesn't exist.
36:28They even come together to satirize Cage's filmography, discussing the outrageous elements of his project such as Ghost Rider.
36:35The absurd idea also has both men complimenting each other before it's all over.
36:39In the end, they hint at their next adventure with an incredible reference to National Treasure.
36:44The time has come for us to ride on to our next adventure.
36:47What is that?
36:49We're going to have a three-way with a declaration of independence.
36:53Number 24.
36:54Two wild and crazy duos.
36:56Instead of using three bachelors, this dating show includes two iconic duos from SNL history.
37:02Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg reprise their roles as the R&B singers, bringing their own compositions with hilarious lyrics.
37:09Hey, girl.
37:12You sound like a real Tenderoni.
37:17Tenderoni.
37:18So come take a ride with us.
37:21The other competitors are the Festrunk brothers, better known as the wild and crazy guys.
37:27Your swinging dream dates have finally arrived for you.
37:33So get ready to take a hike, because we are two wild and crazy guys.
37:41With a sketch this chock full of legends, you can't go wrong.
37:45There are enough funny references and jokes in here to make you forget the original premise.
37:49It's especially fun to see Dan Aykroyd and Steve Martin return with the same energy as they brought in the
37:531970s.
37:54Even if the scene flies off the rails, the performers still bring the laughs in this endlessly entertaining segment.
38:00We've had two ways, three ways, about to help out.
38:03Because we're four wild and crazy guys.
38:11Taking on an unlikely role, Will Ferrell made the most of his Janet Reno impression.
38:15Hello, everybody.
38:17Well, here it is, my last day as Attorney General, and the farewell episode of Janet Reno's dance party.
38:24Zip it! Just zip it!
38:26His version of the politician loves to dance and has a stubborn personality.
38:30Making the real woman's cameo even more surprising here.
38:33It's Reno!
38:37She busts through the wall and matches Ferrell's impersonation in a hilarious shake-up of this recurring sketch series.
38:43Showing that she isn't too self-serious, Reno plays well opposite a comedy legend.
38:48She's not the typical performer, but the leader shows that she's a good sport that can dish out funny jabs
38:53of her own.
38:54The Attorney General also sticks around to share an unforgettable dance with her scene partner.
38:59Oh, Janet, I can't believe I have to say goodbye.
39:02What do you do when you get sad?
39:04I just dance. Now, hit it!
39:10Number 22. The Dictator and Martin Scorsese
39:13Sasha Baron Cohen's Admiral General Aladeen stops by to plug The Dictator, mentioning the biased critiques of his film.
39:20Look at this one from A.O. Scott from the New York Times.
39:26The Dictator is the best film I have seen in the last 10 years. There, I said it. Please, please,
39:33not my face.
39:34He intimidates various people for positive reviews, including a kidnapped Martin Scorsese.
39:39The acclaimed director is electrocuted until he gives Aladeen the right answer, playing into the dark humor of the segment.
39:46Speak freely.
39:48It was good.
39:51It was great.
39:53It was better than Raging Bull.
39:55Scorsese is especially game to show up for a movie that isn't even his own.
39:59Playing well off of Cohen's genius, the filmmaker shows that he has potential in more comedic roles.
40:05His final send-off even includes a few fun references for cinephiles to enjoy.
40:09Okay, very well. Put him back in the cell with Coppola.
40:13You told me I'd be released.
40:14Well, you promised me that Hugo would be under two hours.
40:18But it was. It wasn't actually.
40:20Number 21. Dr. Evil
40:23In light of evil headlines, Mike Myers returned to SNL with one of his best movie characters.
40:28He brought back this villain for a funny cold open about the North Korea and Sony debacle.
40:32Hello, I'm Dr. Evil.
40:37I've preempted this program because I'm furious that North Korea and Sony Pictures have both given evil organizations a bad
40:46name.
40:47Dr. Evil's speech feels straight out of an Austin Powers script,
40:50complete with some hilarious jokes aimed at everyone from Kim Jong-un to James Franco.
40:54There are even a few references to the spy series that spawned this character in the first place.
40:59What are you gonna do next, GOP?
41:02Ask for one million dollars.
41:06With some great makeup work, the actor disappears into the role once more in a laugh-inducing sketch.
41:13Myers even gets to make fun of himself with a love guru shout-out.
41:16Look, I saw the interview. It was charming.
41:19But if you really want to put a bomb in a theater, do what I did. Put in the love
41:25guru.
41:25By the end of this scene, he proves that he hasn't lost any of his sketch comedy talents.
41:31Number 20. Eminem
41:32In a parody of Eminem's Stan, Pete Davidson plays Stu,
41:35a young man with an increasingly unhealthy obsession with getting his hands on a PS5.
41:40Throughout the skit, we're teased with potential cameos from Dido and even Elton John,
41:44but these turn out to be fellow castmates Kate McKinnon and Bowen Yang.
42:00But even as the words Slim Shady flash up on Stu's TV,
42:04we still can't quite believe that we're seeing the real Slim Shady.
42:07As he unwraps a PS5, he has some choice words for Stu.
42:11This sketch was the Christmas gift we didn't even know we wanted.
42:15Sorry, Stu. You f*** up.
42:17Number 19. Brad Pitt
42:19In an interview, Dr. Fauci joked that he would want Brad Pitt to play him on SNL,
42:23and his wish was their command.
42:25Here are some suggestions that I've heard. Ben Stiller, Brad Pitt. Which one?
42:31Oh, Brad Pitt, of course.
42:32In the cold opening for their At Home series, Pitt adopts Fauci's recognizable voice and mannerisms
42:38to address some of the misinformation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic,
42:42particularly those shared by a certain individual.
42:45Pitt even received an Emmy nomination for his cameo,
42:47and high praise from the Doctor himself.
42:50Before wrapping up, the actor removes his costume to pay tremendous gratitude to the real Dr. Fauci,
42:55as well as everyone who has been working tirelessly on the front lines.
42:59And to the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time.
43:06And thank you to the medical workers, first responders, and their families for being on the front line.
43:12Number 18. Judge Judy
43:14Sherry Oteri's impression of this no-nonsense, badass TV judge
43:18is one of her best and most memorable recurring characters from her SNL tenure.
43:22However, there is one person who thinks there's still room for improvement.
43:26Mid-skit, Sherry is interrupted by the one and only Judge Judy,
43:30who has come as iron-fisted justice to show Sherry what it means to spit fire in the courtroom.
43:51If you thought Sherry's Judge Judy was direct, you ain't seen nothing yet.
43:56Sherry fights for a piece of the action, but she's simply no match for the OG.
44:07Number 17. Ellie Kemper, Ed Helms, Nancy Carell, and Jenna Fisher
44:12When Steve Carell hosted the show in 2018, he made it crystal clear that an Office reboot was not in
44:18the cards.
44:19No, actually, I don't think so. It was a great experience, I love all of those people, but I just
44:24don't think it's the best idea.
44:26I think maybe we should just leave it alone.
44:27But then, it isn't just fans who are disappointed by the news.
44:31Carell's old castmates appear among the audience to jump on the reboot bandwagon
44:35and try to persuade him to think of the money.
44:38I need that money. Let's get that money, Steve!
44:41Uh, I'm sorry, Ellie, I just don't think it's a good idea.
44:45You're a jerk.
44:47Arguably, though, the most hilarious cameo comes from Carell's wife and former SNL cast member Nancy and their kids,
44:54who are also keen to see the show revived.
44:57Um, we think you should probably do the show.
45:00Uh, honey, I just don't want to spend that much time away from you guys.
45:03Well, we don't really need you to hang around anymore, right?
45:07He invites his co-stars on stage, and we wait with bated breath for the announcement that never comes.
45:14Well, at least we got this mini-reunion.
45:17Number 16, Leonardo DiCaprio.
45:19Riding high on his Oscar nomination, Jonah Hill is brought crashing back down to earth
45:24when the audience shows more interest in his Wolf of Wall Street co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
45:29But, although Leo's name is mentioned several times, it doesn't seem probable that he would suddenly walk out onto the
45:358H stage.
45:36But we need a real actor like you, okay?
45:46Making his one and only appearance on the show, the Oscar-winning actor calls Hill out for acting like a
45:52big shot.
45:52What did we say about acting like a big shot in public like this?
45:57We said that, like, I shouldn't do it, like I shouldn't be a big shot or whatever.
46:02Right, and what should you do instead?
46:05Just, like, try to, like, be the best version of me or whatever.
46:11He tops off his memorable cameo by reenacting one of Titanic's most iconic moments.
46:16How has Lee never hosted before?
46:18Quick, someone get Lorne Michaels on the phone.
46:20Number 15, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan.
46:24Hosting for the first time since 1984, Eddie Murphy emerged onto the stage while the audience enthusiastically chanted his name.
46:33Naturally, such a momentous occasion couldn't pass by without some surprise appearances.
46:37Which is why we were thrilled when he was joined by comedy icons Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.
46:44Hey! Hey!
46:45Oh my God!
46:46It's Dave Chappelle!
46:48Dave Chappelle, ladies and gentlemen!
46:50After some first-rate banter, including a Lizzo shout-out, these cameo comedy icons pay tribute to the comedian who
46:57paved the way for their own careers.
46:59Especially Chappelle, who says he's been following Murphy's blueprint very closely.
47:03You know I followed your blueprint for my entire career.
47:06Did you?
47:07Yeah, yeah.
47:07I became the biggest star in television and then I quit.
47:11Joined by Keenan at the end, we get to revel in some of comedy's finest entertainers.
47:16Number 14, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
47:18Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon's popular recurring skit featured Hans and Franz, two Austrian bodybuilding enthusiasts who are more about
47:25the flex than the fitness.
47:26They idolize their cousin Arnold Schwarzenegger, who usually appears in the form of a cardboard cutout in the background.
47:34However, the real Schwarzenegger joined the show for a surprise cameo too.
47:38In one skit, he invites the pair to give a fitness pep talk to some kids, but it soon becomes
47:43apparent that they're simply clueless.
47:45If you continue on this way, I'm gonna twist your flap into the shape of a pacifier and I'm gonna
47:51have you suck on it until you boop in your diapers.
47:54Huh? How about that?
47:56Not only does he take the wind out of their sails, he also shows them how it's done.
48:00Number 13, Bryan Cranston.
48:02After the 2016 election, it often felt like reality was imitating fiction.
48:07That's why it seemed rather fitting that SNL would turn to fictional TV to send up some of the unusual
48:13choices who were joining the new cabinet.
48:15Walter White is brought out of retirement to become the new head of the DEA, upon Steve Bannon's recommendation.
48:21Oh yeah, Steve's the best. We've had some times.
48:26He explains how his credentials are really no different than those of his new colleagues, even faking his own death.
48:32The skit is peppered with plenty of hilarious Breaking Bad references, and his countless witty quips have us cracking up
48:39every single time.
48:40The top companies in the country had been knocking on his door for years, but he never answered.
48:46Well, I am the one who knocks.
48:50Number 12, The Five Timers Club.
48:52When Justin Timberlake made it to the Five Timers Club of celebrities who've hosted SNL five times or more,
48:58the show resurrected an occasionally recurring skit that pictures the club as an actual club, of the members-only variety.
49:05This time, the show pulled out all the stops, and featured cameos from no less than eight people.
49:10Paul Simon, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Martin Short, Dan Aykroyd, Alec Baldwin, Candice Bergen, and Tom Hanks all made appearances.
49:18The bit about the club members entertaining themselves by forcing current SNL players to fight each other to the death
49:24is a particularly funny one.
49:26Doubt his eyes, Terry!
49:29Number 11, Alec Baldwin.
49:31After the first televised debate of the 2016 US presidential election, SNL came to rely on surprise appearances from perennial
49:39host and guest star Alec Baldwin to do comedic justice to the resort mogul's over-the-top personality and distinctive
49:45speech patterns.
49:45Our jobs are fleeing this country. They're going to Mexico. They're going to China.
49:53At times, Donald Trump can seem like an impossible man to parody, but Baldwin always delivers the goods, walking a
50:00fine line between the real president's outrageous actions and the winking zaniness of a great SNL parody.
50:06Trust me, I know things are, as the locals say, despacito.
50:11No matter how many times he reprises the role, we never get tired of watching this master Trump satirist at
50:17work, especially when he shares the screen with Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer.
50:21I'm here to swallow gum, and I'm here to take Nate!
50:27Number 10, Barry Gibb.
50:29In a recurring sketch that answers the question, what if Barry Gibb hosted a political talk show?
50:33Jimmy Fallon played the titular character, with Justin Timberlake as his brother Robin.
50:37Inviting politicians and newsmakers for interviews is great, but of course, what is a show starring two-thirds of the
50:44Bee Gees without some music?
50:45Around 10 years following the sketch's debut, the real Barry Gibb makes a surprise appearance, joining the others to sing
50:52at the end of the segment.
51:06It was certainly an exciting moment for Bee Gees fans, and we get to see Barry's humorous side, too.
51:12Number 9, Matt Damon.
51:13Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court hearing was so bizarre that it didn't require a huge leap from fact to satire.
51:20We all saw the SNL material practically right itself, so the only question left was who would play the beer
51:27-loving nominee.
51:28Let me tell you this, I'm gonna start at an 11.
51:32I'm gonna take it to about a 15 real quick!
51:35Matt Damon delivers a faultless performance, mirroring some of the hearing's more peculiar moments,
51:41from Kavanaugh's constant sniffing and weird calendars to his intense mood swings and inexplicable rage.
51:48Reportedly, Damon was only brought on board the night before the sketch was set to air.
51:52Still, the payoff speaks for itself.
51:54We're almost sorry it was only a one-off occasion.
51:57And everyone can relate to that!
51:59Alright, I'll do it!
52:01Number 8, Paul McCartney.
52:03Two of Saturday Night Live's most popular hosts, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin,
52:08who have hosted the show a combined total of more than 30 times to date,
52:11waggle their egos at each other in this 2006 skit,
52:15each trying to prove that theirs has been the more illustrious hosting career of the two.
52:18Fourteen?
52:19Yeah, let's see. October 23rd, 1976, February 26th, 97th, 97th, 97th, 97th.
52:23Seeing the two hosts together is entertaining enough,
52:25and seeing Martin short as a waiter only adds to the fun.
52:28But it's Paul McCartney's wordless appearance that really steals the show.
52:37Not even Steve Martin's quick joke can hide both actors' genuine surprise at seeing Sir Paul up close and personal.
52:44It is Paul Simon!
52:45It's Paul Scott!
52:49Back in 2015, SNL decided to send up the Democratic presidential primary candidates
52:54with a couple of special guest impressions.
52:57Although this cold open also featured Alec Baldwin as Virginia Senator Jim Webb,
53:02Larry David stole the show with his cantankerous, scowling Bernie Sanders impression.
53:06We're doomed! We need a revolution!
53:09His spot-on cameo appearance as the famous U.S. Senator was such a big hit with audiences
53:14that the Curb Your Enthusiasm comedian has revisited it several times since then,
53:18and even appeared alongside the actual Bernie Sanders in a later sketch.
53:22We need to unite and work together if we're all going to get through this.
53:28Sounds like socialism to me!
53:29For SNL viewers, it came as no big surprise when the two later found out they were related by blood.
53:37This cold open featuring Tina Fey's popular Sarah Palin impression starts innocently,
53:42with Fey as Palin taking questions from the press and giving typically silly answers.
53:47But then it cuts to a cameo montage of people criticizing Lauren Michaels for leading with the bit,
53:52including Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, and finally, Sarah Palin herself.
53:57But I feel I must say this, you are way hotter in person.
54:02Fey is eventually notified that the actual Sarah Palin will be taken to stage,
54:06and bows out so that Palin herself can kick things off.
54:09Live from New York, it's Saturday night!
54:13It's a quick, tight bit with an unexpected twist,
54:16much like the time Hillary Clinton visited Kate McKinnon.
54:19I just realized I never checked your ID.
54:24ID! Come on, please!
54:28Musical guest Lady Gaga showed off her sketch comedy chops in this classic segment,
54:32which sees the singer joined on the stage by pop megastar and SNL favorite Madonna,
54:38in a surprise cameo appearance.
54:44The two play vicious and self-absorbed versions of themselves,
54:48trading venomous insults with each other as they try and fail to get along
54:52and perform together for the Deep House Dish music program.
54:56The skit packs in a flurry of subtle references to both singers,
54:59and pop music fame in general.
55:01What kind of a name is Lady Gaga? It sounds like baby food.
55:04The kind that's never one on the Billboard side!
55:06Years later, the two stars actually would have a public disagreement,
55:10but that feud never reached the laugh-out-loud heights of this 2009 gem.
55:16Will Ferrell's mega-popular skits featured the future elf actor as a worn-out,
55:21frustrated version of Jeopardy! game show host Alex Trebek,
55:24with three clueless celebrities, played by cast members and guests,
55:28taking the podium to answer simple pieces of trivia in the form of a question.
55:39Daryl Hammond's foul-mouthed Sean Connery impression is the first thing most people remember about it,
55:44but the last of the regular Celebrity Jeopardy! segments also featured a surprise cameo from the real Alex Trebek himself.
55:51And so this was the final Jeopardy!
55:55He came off to help send off Ferrell from the segment,
55:57and let Hammond's Connery get in a few more off-color jabs at both their expense.
56:02Well, well, well. Two Trebek's. I feel like I'm in a Raisin brand commercial. Two scroops of fruit.
56:07Back off, Connery. I don't have to take that from you.
56:12Back in 2007, when Barack Obama was still just a primary candidate for the office of President of the United
56:18States,
56:19he made this typically deadpan cameo on a skit set at Bill and Hillary Clinton's Halloween party.
56:25Various political guests show up in costume and share a joke or two with the beleaguered hosts.
56:29Finally, a tall, slim guest approaches in an Obama novelty mask.
56:34After the usual commentary from the Clintons, their guest removes the mask to reveal Senator Obama himself.
56:40I enjoy being myself. I'm not gonna change who I am just because it's Halloween.
56:45Well, that's... that's great.
56:49It's a great example of the dry sense of humor Americans came to expect from number 44 in the subsequent
56:55years of his presidency.
56:59Jim Brewer's recurring The Joe Pesci Show sketch featured an impression of the famous actor as a violent maniac,
57:05similar to his characters in the films Goodfellas and Casino,
57:08who used any perceived slate from his guests as an excuse to assault them.
57:13Take care.
57:14Why? I'm not going anywhere.
57:15There you are.
57:18The segment also often used special guests to play Robert De Niro,
57:22who would validate Pesci's anger and join in alongside him.
57:26So when the real Pesci and De Niro eventually showed up on the sketch in an unannounced double cameo,
57:31the comedic tension was almost too much.
57:34I'm actually a very calm, laid-back person.
57:38The two veteran actors played their parodied selves to a tee and brought the house down in the process.
57:43See, first thing you have to do is you take the bar and you hit him in the knee.
57:48Then you hit him in the head!
57:49You understand what I'm talking about?
57:51Huh?
57:52Number 1.
57:53Barbara Streisand and Madonna.
57:55SNL's studio audience was already delighted enough by the surprise appearance of superstar pop singer Madonna
58:01on this episode of Mike Myers' recurring talk show sketch.
58:05But even the material girl herself was starstruck when the legendary Barbara Streisand popped in.
58:10All this talk about food, I'm getting hungry, girl.
58:14Oh my god!
58:15She entered at just the right time, too, during a moment when both characters were praising her singing voice.
58:21The rare cameo by Streisand was the result of a last-minute, off-the-cuff arrangement with SNL head honcho
58:26Lorne Michaels,
58:27so none of the cast even knew it was happening until it did.
58:36The surprise and admiration radiating from Madonna's face was unscripted, totally real, and impossible to forget.
58:44Which SNL cameo surprised you the most? Are there any we missed? Be sure to let us know in the
58:48comments below.
