00:00The Hove Air Aqua is the world's first waterproof self-lying camera. It's capable of taking
00:04off from and landing on the water and even of flipping itself over if it lands upside
00:09down on the water. No other drone on the market does this. It captures 4K video up to 100
00:14frames per second and supports 10-bit D-Log plus 12-megapixel photos. Crucially, the camera
00:20lens is hydrophobic to prevent water droplets from sitting on it. However, in my test I
00:24did have one video ruined by just that issue. The drone is designed primarily for autonomous
00:28flight, tracking its subjects not with a camera but through a wearable lighthouse, which attaches
00:33to the user via an armband. The lighthouse module also features basic controls and a return to
00:38home button. The Aqua is built for solo surfers, paddleboarders or kayakers who want hands-free
00:43aerial footage of themselves, for whom there is nothing else like it available. For everyone
00:47else however, the Aqua is hard to justify because of a lack of obstacle avoidance and the expensive
00:52asking price. It starts at $1,299, £1,129 or $1,999 Australian dollars. Yes, the Aqua can
01:01fly over land and also take off from your hand, but it's clearly designed for water instead,
01:05and a DJI drone is a much better bet elsewhere. What do you think of the Hover Air Aqua? Genuinely
01:10useful or unnecessary? Let us know in the comments and check out our full review at Radar.com.
