Hot weather will build across the northeast region of the U.S. this week with temperatures nearing the 90s in parts of the D.C. and Richmond, Virginia, areas.

00:00After a cool start to the week, a big warm-up is underway across the northeast.
00:05It's beautiful, bright weather, and it will begin to feel more and more like mid-summer starting Thursday,
00:10and especially Friday through Saturday.
00:13Now, Thursday's highs will be up into the upper 80s in places like Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C.,
00:18mid-80s into Boston and New York City, and near the lakeshore up into Buffalo, still comfortable in the upper
00:2370s.
00:23But we will be heating up at the end of the week, into the weekend,
00:26with temperatures running 5 to 15 degrees above historical averages,
00:30and we will stay dry for much of this time frame.
00:32Some of the most significant heat on Friday and Saturday will even flirt with some record highs in some areas.
00:38Humidity levels will begin to sneak up, but some areas that may be close to record highs will be Dulles,
00:44Virginia there,
00:44and also into areas within a few degrees of record highs, Islip, New York, and Bridgeport, Connecticut.
00:50There will be some showers and thunderstorms that offer some relief to all this once we step into Sunday,
00:55with showers and thunderstorms followed by a cool down.
