00:00Calls for service here have increased. Operational demands have intensified and
00:05the workload placed on this borough has continued to grow. Last year alone the
00:10Bronx generated nearly 1 million 911 calls for service, the highest volume of
00:15any borough in the city. Bronx residents have raised this issue with the NYPD for
00:21years and they're asking a fair question. Why should a borough carrying this level
00:26of demand continue operating under a structure that would not be acceptable
00:30elsewhere in New York City? The answer is it should not. This is about equity and the
00:36residents of the Bronx receiving the same quality police service that every New
00:41Yorker deserves. Under this new model, Patrol Borough Bronx North and Patrol
00:45Borough Bronx South will each have dedicated personnel and specialized units
00:49including homicide squads, evidence collection teams, neighborhood safety
00:54teams, auto crime units and narcotics teams and this will bring nearly 200 more
00:59cops to the Bronx. I want to thank Mayor Mumdani for including this in his budget.
