00:02Feeling the sand between their hooves, these horses are getting ready to revive wartime era entertainment.
00:09First run in 1918 as a fundraiser for World War One veterans, this uniquely Darwin race is written into the
00:16history books.
00:17They had a Gallipoli Mile, they had a Mindal Beach Hack and they also had a funny event called the
00:24Go Slow.
00:24And the Go Slow, the horse that came last won, so we figured that it was in the spirit of
00:30the Territory to bring the event back.
00:33Almost a century later, the unfamiliar terrain may leave some horses feeling like a fish out of water.
00:39We may have some people at the finish line rattling some feed buckets to help them at least head in
00:46the right direction.
00:47X-Race horses, show ponies and everything in between are welcome to compete.
00:52But it may not be entirely smooth sailing come race day.
00:55That sort of part of the fun of the event is going, oh those ponies might decide that they're not
01:02going to run down the beach and they're going to have a little lay down in the sand instead.

01:09A lot of the original jockeys were Aboriginal and Chinese and it was reflective of the social demographic of the
