00:01Welcome to Chateau DIY Win The Dream,
00:04the ultimate renovation showdown.
00:06Whose idea was this?
00:08Come on, mine.
00:09Take me over here.
00:11Over four thrilling weeks, creativity meets competition.
00:14That looks wicked, doesn't it?
00:15Perfect fit. Oh, my gosh.
00:18As determined duos battle it out to prove.
00:21I'm having an absolute nightmare.
00:23They've got the vision, skill and grit
00:25to win the ultimate prize.
00:26I haven't got a clue.
00:27I can cry. I can literally cry.
00:30The keys to this breathtaking French property.
00:34Set on the outskirts of a Normandy nature park,
00:37the property boasts six bedrooms, four bathrooms,
00:42two salons, five additional rooms to renovate,
00:45perfectly pruned gardens, stunning outbuildings,
00:49its very own orchard and even a historic bread oven.
00:53It's a lot to play for and if we lose, I'll be fuming.
00:56Three heats and a grand finale where only the best will rise.
01:02All the pairs have to do is show they have the renovation know-how
01:06to impress me and various guest judges from Chateau DIY.
01:10I think this is really creative.
01:12What a transformation.
01:14In weekly challenges designed to push their creativity and skills to the limit.
01:19The clock is ticking.
01:20Win the week and they secure their spot in the grand finale.
01:24The dream is real. The stakes are high.
01:27This is Chateau DIY Win the Dream.
01:40Previously on Win the Dream.
01:42Who's ready to win this Chateau?
01:45The finalists created bold business renovations.
01:49Everybody breathing, hands above the head.
01:52Obviously we're going to have Max as the murderer.
01:54He's going to have something stashed that proves that he is a killer.
01:58To pitch to us judges.
02:00The missing pearls.
02:02It was me.
02:03But despite impressing with their cider workshop.
02:06Thank you so much.
02:08One duo's dream was cut short.
02:10Chris and Paloma.
02:11Thank you so much for the opportunity.
02:13It's been amazing.
02:14Leaving Tash, Sav and the Joshes.
02:16You're both in the final pair to win that Chateau.
02:20To go head to head.
02:22Oh God.
02:29The final.
02:30I wonder what he's got in store for us this time.
02:32I know.
02:33We made it.
02:34We made it.
02:36Yeah.
02:36We did it.
02:37Yeah.
02:38Yeah.
02:38We are so grateful.
02:39We're so happy.
02:40We're so excited.
02:41And we're in disbelief.
02:44I can't believe we're actually here.
02:46We're back.
02:46I can't believe we made it to the end.
02:49I think when we first arrived, all we wanted to do was just not get kicked out first.
02:53But now we've got this far, it's like it actually could be real for us.
02:57We absolutely love it.
02:59That's why we're still here, I think.
03:00Because every time they set us a challenge, we are so enthusiastic.
03:03We just want to throw ourselves into it 100%.
03:06I think whatever challenge it is, our plan is just to put our heart and soul into it.
03:13We'll try and be as creative as we possibly can.
03:16And we'll just fight for the Chateau.
03:22And then there were four.
03:25Welcome back and congratulations on making it through to the final renovation challenge.
03:30Are you excited?
03:31Yeah.
03:32Are you slightly nervous?
03:33Definitely.
03:35Yes.
03:35Very.
03:36Just think, one pair in front of me are going to win the keys to this quarter of a million
03:41pound prize.
03:43That is exciting, isn't it?
03:45Yeah.
03:46To win this Chateau, you're going to have to throw everything you've got at this final renovation challenge.
03:52For this challenge, I want you to create a principal bedroom for yourselves.
03:57Ooh!
03:58Okay, cool.
03:59I love that.
04:00That is actually fab.
04:01Yeah.
04:02Your room should show off your personality and style.
04:05Because for one of you, this is the bedroom where you'll sleep for the first night if you win this
04:10amazing prize.
04:11Stop!
04:13That is so crazy.
04:16You must also make a customised bed to highlight your individual flair and design.
04:22For this challenge, each pair will have a budget of 700 euros.
04:26Oh, my God.
04:28Oh, God.
04:29Okay.
04:30That's not enough.
04:31Yeah.
04:31Not for us.
04:32As always, I'll be looking for concept and creativity, technical skills, functionality and overall look and finish.
04:39Remember, this will be your last chance to showcase your skills and prove why you deserve to win.
04:47Your tools are in your rooms.
04:49Your time starts now.
04:53Let's go.
04:56We've obviously seen now what the Joshes are capable of.
05:00We do know that they are absolutely incredible.
05:02They're going to be incredibly fierce competition.
05:04Yeah.
05:04Definitely.
05:06Tash and Zav, they're very talented and they've made it all the way to the end of this competition.
05:10We really want to win this.
05:11You know?
05:12We don't want them to win it.
05:13We want to win it.
05:14Yeah.
05:14And we hope in the future, the judges will come and visit us at our chateau.
05:22Oh.
05:23Wow.
05:25A new bedroom to do.
05:28That's exciting.
05:28Like the floor.
05:30Ooh.
05:31Wow.
05:32I love the windows.
05:34That light coming through is so nice.
05:36Oh, yeah.
05:36That's gorgeous.
05:37My initial thoughts are, yeah, we want the bed obviously facing the window.
05:41Mm-hmm.
05:41Do we attach the headboard to the wall?
05:43I was thinking about that.
05:45Yeah.
05:45Maybe making a headboard out of something else and attaching it to the wall.
05:48Yeah.
05:49I think that would be really nice.
05:50Do you wish I stick to a double bed?
05:51Yeah.
05:52So, I think we need a king-size bed because, yeah, you do love to stretch out in bed and
05:56I'm
05:56always on the edge like...
05:58Yeah, exactly.
05:59If we design this room for us, we should definitely go big.
06:03How big do we think the bed is?
06:05Lie down on it.
06:08And my legs are usually off the edge of it.
06:11Oh, that's lovely.
06:12Hopefully our bed's comfy in that.
06:14I would love, if we have time, I'd love a little bench at the bottom of the bed.
06:20I've always wanted that.
06:21Yeah, it still is.
06:21We could even have like a little table chair there at the end of the bed.
06:24That's a vibe.
06:25It's always been a dream of mine to have a bed and to have a little coffee table with
06:31two chairs at the end of it.
06:32He's bougie.
06:33What other furniture do we need?
06:35On what?
06:35Yeah.
06:35We're going to need some drawers.
06:37I'd love to have some big like pots or vases that we use as bedside table and nice wood on
06:44top.
06:44Yeah.
06:45Yeah, maybe like a little two arm chairs with a little table.
06:48So when I wake up in the morning, you can bring me a coffee.
06:51We could sit here.
06:52What about like somewhere to get ready?
06:54Yeah.
06:55You know, maybe.
06:56People like to get ready next to the window, natural light.
06:58What's your roof?
06:59I would love to do that.
07:00No, exactly.
07:01Exactly.
07:01You like to get ready.
07:02It doesn't feel real.
07:02That's actually crazy to say that we're doing this actually for us.
07:05What we would have.
07:09Layout decided.
07:11Thoughts turned to the all-important colour scheme.
07:14Erm, what colour?
07:17Erm, green.
07:19Burgundy?
07:20No.
07:21Not in a bedroom.
07:22It's too menacing.
07:23Yeah, it's a bit, yeah.
07:24Black.
07:25I mean, I already was thinking black.
07:27Yeah?
07:28Yeah?
07:28Yeah.
07:29I want people to walk in and go like, whoa.
07:30Whoa, this is a big transformation.
07:32Yeah.
07:33I would like like a deep olive green if we could find that.
07:36Okay.
07:36Erm, because I just think that's really like classic and serene.
07:42And then I would like to offset it with maybe like an off-white or like a light beige.
07:45Maybe we could find a nice wallpaper.
07:49Either like wallpapered ceiling or maybe like gold.
07:52Ooh, gold leaf ceiling.
07:53Gold leaf ceiling.
07:55Yeah.
07:56Should we do a little storage bench?
07:59Yeah.
08:00A headboard.
08:01And then the tops of the bedside tables.
08:03I think I'd be pretty happy with that.
08:06Delighted with a bedroom.
08:07We can have a lot of fun with this one because we know what we would want from our bedroom
08:10at the end of the day.
08:12Personality has to shine through and we have to do everything to a very high standard.
08:17I think, you know, we need to start really thinking about like, if we want it, this could genuinely be
08:22our bedroom.
08:24If we're running a business here at the Chateau, it's going to be like busy, we're going to be renovating,
08:28we're going to be doing loads of stuff.
08:29I want this to feel like our little escape.
08:31We want it to be us.
08:32We want it to be special for us.
08:35I know.
08:39I want to make a gorgeous room that we genuinely can imagine ourselves in.
08:44We're both dancers and performers, so the idea of making like a statement, something dramatic, something that feels really bold.
08:50And like, we don't want to be the same as everyone else, you know.
08:54No.
08:54Are you happy with that plan then?
08:56Let's go.
08:56Let's go.
08:57Go, go, go.
09:00OK, so we know that we want black paint.
09:02We're going to look for gold and see how expensive it is.
09:05Should we go out shopping?
09:06Yeah, let's go.
09:06Come on, let's go do that.
09:12As the Joshies head out for paint, Tash and Zav tackle their towering to-do list.
09:17Right, you've got your measurements there.
09:19Yep.
09:20I'm going to go off to the shops and see if I can get some wallpaper or paint.
09:22Cool.
09:23Well, hopefully both.
09:24Yeah, hopefully both.
09:25See you in a bit, have fun.
09:27Got my jobs.
09:28Guess I'm going to be busy.
09:37I've got to rip down some plywood to make dado rails and panelling.
09:43That's my next task.
09:46Off we go.
09:49So this is smoothing everything off.
09:54400 grit.
09:57Every finish has to be perfect because we're like in the end game now.
10:03I've got to focus on every detail.
10:10Shopping complete, Tash and the Joshies come armed with paint tins.
10:15Buzzing to paint.
10:17I love getting the paint on the walls.
10:18In very different shades.
10:20I went for a linen color.
10:23Black.
10:24All sure about black?
10:26Oh yeah, you've opened it now.
10:33Three, two, one.
10:45Oh yeah.
10:46A lot of people would shy away from painting a room black.
10:49A lot of people paint their rooms white.
10:51But you know, why play it safe?
10:54And the thing that I love about it is it's going to create a really big transformation in this space.
10:58It's going to go from this kind of like empty white box to this like really bougie black boudoir.
11:04Yeah, that's it.
11:06That's what we want.
11:07I've got full confidence in the black paint.
11:11I wonder if the other team is brave enough to go black.
11:17Oh, let's see.
11:19I love it.
11:21It is perfect.
11:23Very happy.
11:24Beautiful.
11:25That is such a nice color.
11:26I'm very, very happy.
11:27Very, very happy with that.
11:31Bosh.
11:36Knock, knock.
11:36Hello.
11:37Hello.
11:38Oh, I love that color.
11:40Do you?
11:41This is linen.
11:42Do you want to know a secret?
11:43What?
11:44That's the color of my bedroom.
11:46Really?
11:46That's the color of our lounge.
11:49What are the chances?
11:50So what's happening in terms of layout?
11:52The plan for the bed has changed a little bit.
11:56Yeah, we had a thing that decided we wanted to go bigger and better with the bed.
12:00So, Xavier is going to be making a four-poster bed.
12:04I'm going to ask the question, but I think I know the answer.
12:06Have you ever built a four-poster bed before, Zav?
12:09All the time.
12:10All the time.
12:10I've made loads of them.
12:12A grand total of?
12:13Zero.
12:14Okay.
12:15Do you know how to make one?
12:17Oh, okay.
12:17I love that.
12:19That's the confidence we love about Zav, isn't it?
12:22Are you proud of how far Zav's come on with his carpentry skills?
12:25I'm amazed at how much he's come on with his carpentry skills.
12:28It's incredible.
12:29Me too.
12:30I feel like a proud uncle.
12:32See you later.
12:34Good luck, sir.
12:38Oh, my goodness.
12:41Hello.
12:42I can't help but notice it's very black in here.
12:45Very black.
12:46It is.
12:46Every single wall.
12:48Every single wall.
12:49Apart from the ceiling.
12:50Are you leaving the ceiling?
12:51No.
12:52The ceiling is going to go gold.
12:54Metallic gold.
12:56Gold and black.
12:57Yeah.
12:57Do you know what?
12:58When I set this challenge, I kind of knew where you were going to take it.
13:02We looked at each other.
13:04We didn't need to say the word black, but we just knew it was going to be black.
13:07And we knew that we were going to pair it with gold.
13:10Because we want to give that a feeling of, you know, this is like chaos in the chateau when
13:13we're renovating and we could just come here and chill.
13:17Yeah.
13:17Now, a lot of people wouldn't associate the colours black and gold with chilling and calm.
13:21When we walk into this colour, I think it kind of gives you a little hug and that's what we
13:26want.
13:26The gold, I think it just gives it a little elevation.
13:29I think when the light comes through and it hits the metallic gold, it'll light up the space a little
13:33bit more.
13:34Because this room actually feels so bright.
13:37It's incredible, isn't it?
13:38A lot of people say you've got to paint everything white or magnolia or beige to reflect the light.
13:43But actually, this room still feels really spacious.
13:45It really does.
13:46Now, yet to buy any furniture?
13:48No.
13:49We're going to try to build a bed.
13:51Yeah.
13:52Put some legs on it and then we're going to upholster the outside of the bed to match the headboard
13:55as well.
13:56So, yeah, we've got a lot of kind of building and upholstery work with the bed.
14:02This is going to be a big project and we're literally making the whole thing pretty much from scratch,
14:06upholstering the whole thing.
14:07And we imagine it's going to be this big pink extravaganza.
14:12I like the way, as you're describing it to me, you're laughing with, this sounds crazy, right?
14:17It does.
14:18Yeah, it does.
14:19To be sensible with the other items so you can concentrate all your energy and effort on something really opulent.
14:25Maybe not all, because Josh also wants to make four pairs of curtains, seven cushions, there's lots going on.
14:31So, just to be clear, for the final renovation challenge to win this chateau, you've decided to make a bed
14:37from scratch, including upholstery, make curtains from scratch.
14:41Have you done that before?
14:42Um, no.
14:45Cushions from scratch.
14:46And the rest.
14:47Big arms.
14:48Yeah.
14:49Yeah, I'm a bit nervous, but I think we can do it.
14:51I've actually got goosebumps thinking about it.
14:54Same.
14:55I can't wait to see it.
14:57Right, crack on, you've missed a bit.
14:58I know.
14:59Just a little bit.
15:04Yeah, I think Max thinks we're really mad.
15:06Yeah.
15:15As dawn breaks over the chateau, the pairs are off furniture hunting.
15:20Together.
15:27It's nice being back.
15:34Oh, hang on.
15:37I think we may have found something quite nice.
15:41Tash, will you give me a hand?
15:42Yeah.
15:42First on the list for Tash and Zav, a base for their four-poster bed.
15:46Oh.
15:47No, the top's not really lending itself, is it?
15:50No.
15:51My forgiveness me.
15:52Be careful, don't take anyone's eye out.
15:54I don't know what I've done here.
15:56It's roughly in.
15:57It will do.
15:58There we go.
16:07While for Josh and Josh, two halves...
16:10So, what's like that base and that base together?
16:12They look the same.
16:13What, and then I'll upholster that?
16:15Yeah.
16:15Make a whole lot of bed.
16:19Save me that.
16:20What, this one?
16:22And then we just need to put some legs and then I can upholster that.
16:26So, that is one se...
16:28One what?
16:30One seven seven.
16:31Yeah, so that's like a king.
16:37This one is quite handy, isn't it?
16:39Because it's got the square top.
16:41Yeah.
16:41It's squared off at the top.
16:42Yeah.
16:43Yeah.
16:44Yeah.
16:46This could be workable.
16:49Okay, so now we've got this sorted, should we go look for some more bits?
16:51Yeah, let's do it.
16:54Got it.
17:00Got it.
17:02But shopping together...
17:03We're looking at exactly the same things.
17:06...can pose its own problems.
17:08While we're kind of like sussing out all their things on offer, we've also got one eye on Zav and
17:13Tash, just because they're sussing out the same things that we're looking at.
17:16How's it going?
17:17Good, how are you getting on?
17:18Yeah, fine.
17:19Bouncing bits?
17:20Yeah.
17:21Bouncing bits.
17:22Have you?
17:22Yeah.
17:23Good.
17:23How much is that?
17:26It's got a nice little spat in there.
17:28Zav, look at this.
17:29That's cute.
17:32This might be quite nice if you paint that all cream.
17:34I like the whole thing.
17:35I think it's really nice.
17:36If you just take that off.
17:38Well, let's get that then.
17:39I'm just putting a little label so that they know that we have secured this.
17:47What does that mean?
17:51T4X.
17:52Tandex.
17:53Tashin's ever getting that.
17:54Of course we are.
17:57Can't have it all, guys.
17:58Can't have it all.
18:02What's happened?
18:03Nothing.
18:04What have you done?
18:05No, not what have we done.
18:06What have you done?
18:07What do we do?
18:08You got to the dresser faster than us.
18:10Oh!
18:11I'm so sorry.
18:12There was only one.
18:14We wanted that.
18:14I'm so sorry.
18:15No, it's fine.
18:16It's yours.
18:17It's all right.
18:17It's broken anyway.
18:19Did you just go smash the mirror?
18:20Yeah.
18:20I was like...
18:21No.
18:26Should we get them to one, these two?
18:28After being pipped to the dresser, Josh and Josh are not leaving anything to chance.
18:33Yeah.
18:33You take it?
18:34Yeah.
18:36Just sit on them.
18:37Imagine they'll stop there.
18:40Yeah?
18:41Great.
18:41I'll take that.
18:43Tash?
18:43Yeah?
18:45I might have something for you.
18:47I like that rug that you put there.
18:48It's a good one, no?
18:49Yeah.
18:51Oh, dust.
18:52Oh, it's a hundred euros.
18:53Oh, wow.
18:54A hundred euros?
18:55I think that's out of the question, really, because even at a discount, it's going to be
18:59too much on this budget.
19:00You have to play with someone who's responsible.
19:03The carpet was marked at 100, which, frankly, we can't afford to pay 100 for a carpet.
19:09And the lady there was very kind and understood our plight and went to ask the boss.
19:14It's good?
19:15Yes.
19:15Thank you very much.
19:16Thank you very much.
19:19Thank you very much.
19:20Thank you very much.
19:21And I gave it for 50.
19:2250.
19:24Yeah!
19:25Wow.
19:26This is why you come with me.
19:28Amazing.
19:29Wow, that's so good.
19:33249.
19:34Okay.
19:35Very good.
19:36Thank you very much.
19:44Very successful.
19:45That was a good trip.
19:46That was good.
19:57Back at the chateau, the pairs continue with their highly contrasting paint jobs.
20:01I think it's excellent news that Max has got this colour in his house.
20:05He obviously really likes it.
20:06We also really like it.
20:08It's like a warm hug.
20:10I think green is obviously like a neutral natural colour and so is this.
20:16So I think they go really nicely together because it's just all very natural and serene.
20:23That's what you want in a bedroom.
20:25Nice and calm.
20:39So right now I'm just gonna put the first layer of gold paint on.
20:45Let's try a little bit up there, see what it looks like.
20:48I've never painted gold, like this much gold on the ceiling before.
20:51But I've painted a lot of gold but just never this much, just a lot.
20:55But we're going for it.
21:00It's quite good actually.
21:04While the Joshes commit to their bold contemporary design, Tash embraces traditional chateau charm.
21:12Lovely.
21:13Green.
21:20Popping some here.
21:23It's a nice colour.
21:25I think they're both nice and neutrals, which is exactly what I wanted really.
21:29I don't want anything that's too, you know, garish.
21:33That would not be my vibe.
21:38Goal!
21:43My arm's actually dead.
21:45Oh my God.
21:46Keep going, you've got it.
21:47I can't even lift it up anymore.
21:50Stretch it out.
21:57That's the first coat done.
22:01This is the only way to get the skirtings done properly.
22:06I'm not having a rest here, OK?
22:08I'm working really hard.
22:18After snapping up a wardrobe for 50 euros, Josh and Josh now have to put it all back together again.
22:31So, we are assembling our armoire, which the kind man who sold it to us dismantled.
22:38But now we have the fun game of putting it back together.
22:42So, we have no instructions, but we do have some letters that he's kind of written on it, so we're
22:48trying to work it out.
22:50Some words we recognise from doing ballet, so we have the derriere.
22:54When you're doing ballet, derriere's to the back.
22:58That's not a good set to eat, by the way, I've got boots on.
23:01We're on quite a tight time frame, so we don't want to spend too long putting this together.
23:07Let's just figure out that little back thing first, because I'm really confused about these.
23:12I'm telling you, they just slide in, look, that goes in that gap.
23:14Well, I'll slide it in then.
23:15Yeah, I'll slide it in.
23:16I know it goes in the back, it slides in some way, but I don't know whether it's, like, which
23:20way it goes.
23:20OK, ready?
23:21Yeah.
23:22Hup!
23:22Isn't it the same way?
23:23Yeah.
23:24Yes.
23:25You don't need to slide it in because it doesn't slide.
23:27Do you know what I mean?
23:27That's what I'm saying.
23:28It doesn't make sense to me.
23:30Surely it'll just go there, like, slot in that.
23:33And then try it.
23:33Well, for me, it just doesn't make sense to me.
23:37Well, just try it.
23:38Can't go in my side.
23:39Oh.
23:39It's not even in the hole.
23:41We need to figure out what, where that, how that back bit goes is.
23:45I think we were right, but I still don't know.
23:47It's really not going well, this.
23:49Yeah, it is.
23:50We've got it this far.
23:51It's just these weird things.
23:53I just don't get it because there's no, like, see, there's nothing to slide it into.
23:56No.
23:57Yeah?
23:58Is it in yours?
23:59It's not in anything.
24:00No, I know, but what I'm saying, once it's down...
24:01Oh, it's like that.
24:02It slides in like that.
24:03Where?
24:04The middle.
24:05Push it back, that middle bit.
24:06Oh, my God.
24:07Like that.
24:09I've got it.
24:11Right.
24:11That's it.
24:12Oh, my gosh.
24:14It's not in yet.
24:14We need to skip round the back.
24:16We're there.
24:19We're both feeling frustrated.
24:21We hate putting things like this together.
24:23I just don't understand why that...
24:24Right, I think it's fine to leave it.
24:25It's not fine.
24:26It needs to go in.
24:27Oh, Josh, it's all going to fall in.
24:28I know, I'm just going to shove it in this thing if you shove the sides in.
24:30Do you know what I mean?
24:32So, if I take...
24:33It's come out again.
24:34It's fine.
24:36Just...
24:36Ah!
24:38Shall we start again?
24:49It's day three of the final renovation challenge, and the pairs turn their attention to their
24:54customised beds.
24:56Then I go up again.
24:58OK.
24:59Like that?
25:00Yeah.
25:00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
25:01That's exactly what I was thinking.
25:02It's like a modern take on, like, a chateau-y bed.
25:06Cool.
25:06Why don't we do that now?
25:07Yeah.
25:08Let's go.
25:08Are you happy with that design?
25:09Yeah.
25:10I feel like we decided on that very quickly.
25:11Yeah.
25:12Yeah?
25:13It's going to be massive.
25:14Let's do it.
25:15Is that good?
25:23I do not have to make a four-post of bed, as Max has already highlighted, but I'm working
25:27it out.
25:27I figure it's just four posts, right?
25:30Four posts.
25:31Go up high.
25:33Some sort of rectangle around at the top.
25:35And then I'll obviously do some decorative work on these posts.
25:39I may, if I'm feeling very ambitious, try to copy what is actually on the front of these.
25:47This sort of notched thing going all the way up, but we'll see if I can try that.
25:53I'm not sure if I'm at that level yet.
25:55It could be an absolute travesty.
26:04So, at the moment, I'm making the headboard for the bed.
26:10Just cut one little bit out, and then I'm just going to stencil it on another piece of plywood, and
26:14then I'm going to cut the next bit out.
26:19We've always dreamt of a four-post of bed. We've just never had somewhere big enough to put one. So,
26:24why not? Why not go for it?
26:26I want to show Max that I can do these things. I think early on, maybe my woodworking was doubted
26:33at times, and I want to put that right.
26:36Because I think I've come a long way, and I want to show that.
26:38I think maybe we'll see when we get back to the room, and see if we need to make it
26:43a bit shorter, but we'll see.
26:45Looks good from here, though, but once it's standing up, it's a lot taller than you think.
26:52We are throwing every last bit at this final renovation, because it's the only chance we're going to get.
27:00So, every detail has to be thought of, and I think that will hopefully make the difference in the end.
27:06I think it's crossed.
27:16Look at you go. You're a changed man, Zav. I love it.
27:20So, these are the posts that are going to be our four-post of bed.
27:23And I thought, rather than leave it all square-edged, I'd do a little bit more decorative.
27:27I don't recognise you. So, these are four uprights.
27:31Yes. I've notched out the footer, and I'll do the same with the header,
27:36so that they kind of sit in there like that.
27:38And then I've got my canopy around, which I'll have to make as well.
27:41Big? That'd be nice. Very big, very grand.
27:43Adventurous? Very adventurous.
27:45Did you think you'd be making a four-poster bed a couple of months ago?
27:48Not a chance.
27:51I feel confident doing these things now.
27:53So, I'd give anything a go at this point.
27:55Isn't that good, though? So, if you were to win the chateau, you'd feel like you'd do all the DIY
27:59yourself?
28:00Yeah, that's kind of the point.
28:01Brilliant. Love it.
28:02So, Josh and Josh also have to build their own customised bed, and they're also going pretty big.
28:08Yes.
28:08It just goes to show how much you both really want to win this chateau.
28:12Absolutely, yeah. We can tell they want it just as bad as we do.
28:15And we love them. We've got on with them so well.
28:17You know, I want all the best for them, but I do think we want this place for ourselves.
28:23We love them, but we're going to win.
28:26Hopefully.
28:27Hopefully.
28:28I keep saying it, it's very surreal to us, because we've always kind of tried to forget about the end
28:33goal,
28:34because we never really thought it was possible.
28:36And it's getting to a stage where we can't really ignore it anymore.
28:39The reality is, you're one decision away from this being your workshop, from that being your home.
28:46Yeah.
28:46From that being your kid's orchard, where they're going to run around in growing up.
28:50Yeah.
28:51You're trying to make me cry again, aren't you?
28:53I'm going to make myself cry at the thought of it, because I know how much it means to you.
28:55Yeah, it means a lot to us.
28:57We want to get married here as well.
28:58We want a lot of things with this place.
29:00Yeah.
29:01We want to create a life for ourselves where we don't have to work the nine-to-five necessarily,
29:05and get that freedom for us and our family.
29:09So, it means a lot.
29:10It's really great that you're learning, evolving and feeling inspired.
29:14Right, crack on.
29:15Cheers.
29:15See you later.
29:27Meanwhile, Josh and Josh are putting their own stamp on the walls.
29:31Let's see if this works.
29:40As Zav employs scare tactics.
29:43The key here is to make as much noise as possible to intimidate the Joshes.
29:55That's nice, isn't it?
29:57I like it a lot.
30:00Not good, this.
30:01It's really nice.
30:07Yeah, perfect.
30:08Hold that there.
30:21Finalists, it's time for your last ever petite challenge.
30:25Now.
30:26Just when it was going well.
30:28Come on then.
30:31Come with me to the workshop.
30:34Last one, though.
30:35Yeah.
30:36We better go.
30:38Let's go.
30:39After you.
30:54Are you excited?
30:56Yeah.
30:56Let's go.
30:58What is this?
30:59A big bit of wood and some paint.
31:01Ooh, interesting.
31:04What's all this?
31:06Chisels.
31:08Firstly, I love your curious, confused faces right now.
31:13Are you trying to guess what we're doing?
31:15Yeah.
31:16I bet you're as emotional as I am about this being your final petite challenge.
31:21Devastated.
31:24Do you not enjoy my petite challenges?
31:26I do.
31:27Yeah, I do.
31:27I think we're all going to love this one, actually.
31:30Tash.
31:31I hope so.
31:32Oh, God, it's sewing again, isn't it?
31:34I set these petite challenges to test your ability to act quickly and think on the spot under pressure.
31:40All of which are key skills when running a chateau in France.
31:45Today, I'm going to test your creativity and ability to inject your personality into your work.
31:51One pair are going to win this stunning property.
31:54So I want you to create a bespoke sign and name for your would-be chateau.
32:00This is getting real now, isn't it?
32:02Naming your chateau.
32:04Remember, the name and your sign might adorn the front of your home very soon.
32:11Oh, I'm getting tingly at the foot.
32:13Stop it.
32:15You have two hours to complete this challenge.
32:18When the time is up, I'll be reviewing your designs.
32:21Are you ready to complete your final petite challenge?
32:24Yes.
32:26Zav, that wood is porous, so no crying.
32:30Everything you need is in the workshop.
32:32Your time starts now.
32:36Let's get on with one.
32:38OK.
32:39Are we going to pair for you?
32:40I don't know. OK.
32:41Where was that one?
32:43OK. Let's go.
32:45Right.
32:47I thought I grabbed two greens. Did I not grab both the greens?
32:50So we're playing around with two names.
32:52We've been toying around with Wild Hawk.
32:54Yeah, which is our surnames.
32:55So that feels like our obvious choice.
32:59Yeah.
32:59And it translates as Foucan Sauvage.
33:02So we're thinking of Chateau de Foucan Sauvage.
33:04Foucan Sauvage.
33:05I think we should draw out where we want the letters to go first
33:08because we need to shape it around it.
33:09Otherwise, we don't want to cut it too small, do we?
33:11OK.
33:12We've decided we want to celebrate the wisteria on the front of the property
33:17because when we first walked in, that was what was the most striking thing about it.
33:21So we are naming their property after the wisteria.
33:25Chateau de Fleur, how do you like?
33:27Purple flowers.
33:28I've got some fonts.
33:30I don't like that. That looks like Disney Channel.
33:32No, no, I don't like that one.
33:34That is like an army camp.
33:36Oh, my God, maybe we'll put a little love heart on it.
33:39That one's maybe slightly better.
33:41What do you want to do?
33:42I'm not entirely sold on that font either, but I think we'll try this font.
33:46But I thought you're not entirely sure about it.
33:48I'm not.
33:49So then why would you do it if you're not entirely sure?
33:50That's an F.
33:52This is an F.
33:52That's an F.
33:53That's an I.
33:54I mean...
33:55Honestly.
33:56Let's compare the F and the I.
33:57Honestly.
33:58No, stop it.
33:58Wow, they're different.
34:01Wait, which is which?
34:03Who knows?
34:04OK.
34:04I don't see F, that's just a pound sign.
34:06Oh, stop it.
34:07We're working in Euros here.
34:09Yeah, I'm not sure about this font.
34:10Do you know what I mean?
34:11What do you think?
34:12Well, just try it, I think, and then we'll see.
34:13Just draw it on there quickly.
34:14Stop.
34:14You're wasting time.
34:16We have these vectors as well, don't you?
34:18I don't like those.
34:19Put them away.
34:20Get rid.
34:21I'm sorry, honey.
34:22I got a bit carried away there and thought I could have part of the design.
34:27I actually quite like that font.
34:28Now it's written down.
34:28No, I like this font.
34:29That's good.
34:30Oh, that's so cute.
34:32It's a floor to me there.
34:33Huh?
34:34Get in the chair.
34:35Open your mouth.
34:36Very funny.
34:36Say, ah.
34:38Stop.
34:44OK.
34:45How's that?
34:47Yeah, it's actually all right.
34:48It's just like doing your nails.
34:51Just a little manicure.
34:52This is so fun.
34:54If I did this, I would almost certainly make a massive pigseer of it.
34:59Does that feel like it's going to take a long time?
35:01Well, it might do, but...
35:03He's just trying to teach himself how to do the woodwork.
35:06Yeah.
35:06It's a cooler thing.
35:07When I've seen people do that, it looks good.
35:09I'm going to stay away from that.
35:14Yeah, it'll be pretty.
35:15It's a really lovely challenge, actually.
35:17I'm enjoying it.
35:18For once.
35:19The first time.
35:19And the last time.
35:20It's not clear.
35:25It's a sign of the times.
35:26You've used up half your time.
35:28Only 60 minutes remaining.
35:30I am concerned about time, just because we've got a lot to do.
35:34This is the hard bit, because we need to make it so it's, like, centralised and spread out.
35:37We need to get a move on. There's a lot to do with it.
35:40We haven't started cutting it out or anything.
35:52With less than an hour remaining, the race is on to complete the final petite challenge.
36:00Right, what are we up to, you two?
36:02We have decided to name the chateau after the whist area.
36:05So it's called Chateau of the Purple Flowers.
36:08Oh.
36:08The purple flowers is what we first noticed when we walked around the corner to the building.
36:12So we really wanted to highlight that.
36:13It gave us a really, you know, a really lovely emotion, didn't it?
36:16And Xavier's cut out a really pretty French kind of shape.
36:19A French kind of shape?
36:21Yes.
36:23Where was the inspiration for that form?
36:25I don't know, really.
36:26We both kind of looked at it.
36:27We just knew.
36:28And had the same shape in mind.
36:30Yeah.
36:31As the challenges have gone on, you're on the same page now.
36:34We are.
36:34We're very much on the same page.
36:36We kind of knew, I think, what we wanted to do with this.
36:39Yeah.
36:39We've been thinking about the name since the first time we saw the place, so...
36:44Have you?
36:44Yeah.
36:45The first time you walked around the corner and laid eyes on the chateau, you knew?
36:49Yeah.
36:49Did you know you'd get to the final?
36:52Absolutely not.
36:52No, we're rather surprised at that, I will say.
36:55But obviously we're really, really grateful.
36:56We're very happy that we're at this moment being able to do this.
36:59It's very surreal.
36:59Yeah.
37:00What are these little marks I see here?
37:02Engraving tool.
37:02We used a small engraving tool to engrave some wisteria into this, which I will now paint.
37:08I'm trying to give it some sort of 3D levels to it, so I'm going to route the edges as
37:12well.
37:12There's half loves to route everything these days, it seems.
37:15Have you got tools at home?
37:16I have some, but not on this kind of level.
37:20No.
37:20We're going to need them now for the house.
37:22Ooh, that's fighting talk.
37:25Right.
37:26I'm going to start painting, I think.
37:30Surprise, surprise.
37:31Josh, you're painting at lightning speed.
37:33That's what I do best.
37:35What are we doing?
37:36Let's have a look.
37:36So, we have decided our chateau will be called Chateau du Foucan Sauvage, which means the
37:42Chateau of the Wild Hawk.
37:44The Wild Hawk.
37:45Your names combined.
37:46Names combined, yeah.
37:47Perfect.
37:48And what colours are we talking?
37:49I mean, you might be able to guess.
37:51Gold?
37:51Black.
37:52We're probably going to do some black and then maybe go with the white, just around
37:56it to make it pop a little bit more.
37:57We had to kind of do this bit of the process first, which is like the maths, like measuring
38:01out the lines, measuring out the letters.
38:03Isn't it funny how maths actually plays an important part in design?
38:07At school, I just dismissed it.
38:08Yeah.
38:09I'm not that great with maths.
38:10We're also both dyslexic.
38:12So, that really helps with our like spelling, when we're translating things.
38:15So, yeah, we're doing our best.
38:16Have you double checked the spelling?
38:18Yes.
38:18Yeah.
38:19Before painting.
38:19We just need to add a little accent on the A.
38:21Ooh, of course.
38:22Yes.
38:23May we?
38:23Yeah.
38:25Right.
38:25Keep going.
38:28I'm going for just nice greens, see for the gardens, and then I'll put some purple
38:32flowers amongst the green.
38:34Just notice that the Joshes, they just like go for it.
38:36Heads in the game, obviously.
38:38They're so quick to make decisions.
38:40Me and Sav are definitely a bit more like slow.
38:43I would say, generally speaking, I would be the decision maker.
38:48Which is not wrong.
38:51I just do as I'm told.
38:52I think me and Josh are quite impulsive with our decisions.
38:55I think we have an idea and we just kind of do it.
38:57And then we're both like playing catch up with each other going like,
38:59that's what we're doing.
39:01I think, whereas Lav and Taft, maybe take a little bit longer to come to a decision.
39:05You only have 20 minutes left to sign, seal and deliver your designs.
39:11I don't really know what I'm doing.
39:13I think if I mix up enough stuff, it's going to turn out brown.
39:16Oh, that's not bad, actually.
39:17No, that's not bad at all.
39:18You like that?
39:19Yeah, it's fine.
39:20Just keep it like that.
39:20Bit too purple.
39:21No, it's fine.
39:22Tiny, no, no, not too much.
39:24Don't go too hard on that.
39:25That'll be enough.
39:25That'll be enough.
39:26Focus on the bits that are lighter.
39:27Is the top and the bottom darker?
39:29You don't do it like that.
39:30That's why it's got all of them in you need to, when you do it,
39:32it needs to be a bit more strokes.
39:35You need to go the same direction.
39:36See how you've got all of these different things.
39:39There you go.
39:41OK, I'm moving it up the top from where it was.
39:43Should we make a centre line?
39:44You just need to line it up each time with the stencil.
39:46Mm-hm.
39:47You can see it, Katya.
39:48As the stain has dried, the pencil is disappearing.
39:51As the light changes, you can't really see the stenciling.
39:54We're just going to go for it.
39:55Or do you want to just go gold?
39:56I think this will give it an outline anyway.
39:58Do you know what I mean?
39:59Yes, we don't have that much time for outlines.
40:02It's sawdust in my eye.
40:04Not again.
40:05Not again.
40:06Always.
40:07Honestly, this process is just broken.
40:08I've seen her cry probably two or three times
40:11the whole time we've been together before we came here.
40:14If there's anything...
40:14It's obviously very emotional
40:16because this is a very life-changing prize.
40:19We're doing this for our kids, so I'm trying my best.
40:22To put it into perspective,
40:23I'm not sure she actually cried at our children's birth.
40:26No, I didn't cry.
40:28This... this petite challenge is a bit more personal.
40:30This is like we're making a sign for a chateau
40:33that we could potentially live in and make it special.
40:35I'm just struggling with the side of, like...
40:37Yeah, rushing something that is like...
40:40I want to put love into it.
40:41It's like you're putting your name above the door,
40:42so it's a bit like we're taking ownership of it.
40:45It's not a stop sign, it's a hurry-up sign.
40:48Because you only have five minutes to finish your creations.
40:51Five minutes, okay.
40:52Five minutes.
40:53Whoa, that came out quick.
40:54What on earth are you doing?
40:56With that, what should I do?
40:57Should I just put it around the edges?
40:58Just do, like, a tiny bit there and a tiny bit there.
41:01Don't do that!
41:02Are you joking?
41:03Oh, my God.
41:04It's okay, it's fine.
41:05Don't.
41:05It's fine.
41:06That looks good,
41:07because you can actually see the words now.
41:09I swear to God.
41:10I nearly did the silly.
41:12I was a bit worried when that black went on.
41:13I was like, we're just drawing invisible letters at this point.
41:16What you were trying to do is ruin what we've just spent two hours painting.
41:20I've got, like, two minutes left.
41:21We should not do that.
41:22No.
41:23It's because if you don't finish it, it'll look half-finished.
41:25I think you should stop.
41:26I think you should actually...
41:27That's fine.
41:27I've got it.
41:28I've got it.
41:28I've got it.
41:29I've got it.
41:30I've got it.
41:30Don't worry.
41:31Time's up.
41:32Step away from your chateau signs.
41:34It's time to show me your designs.
41:37It looks good, doesn't it?
41:38I'm happy.
41:39Yeah.
41:39I'm happy.
41:40I like it.
41:41Simple and effective.
41:41Bit gold.
41:42It's very us.
41:43I hope it's spelled right.
41:45It's about wrong.
41:46Nice.
41:47So sweet.
41:48It's pretty.
41:49Well done.
41:51Josh and Josh, you're first.
41:58You two look happy.
41:59Are you pleased with yourselves?
42:01That was challenging but fun.
42:02It was good.
42:03Talk to me about the finish.
42:04It's very you.
42:05We wanted to kind of change the shape from the square,
42:06so we rounded the corners to create sort of something that felt a little bit more chateau-esque.
42:10More of a plaque.
42:11Yeah.
42:12And then we stained the wood to give it that kind of, like, aged old effect.
42:15Add a little bit of detailing with the panelling just to give it a bit more 3D.
42:18And then, obviously, did some gold gilding.
42:21So, initially, the letters were black, but they're now gold.
42:24I think what we wanted to do is bring a bit of depth to it.
42:27So we were going with the dark and then going over with a bit of gold.
42:30We did look at white at one point because that would make it sound like even more, but it looked
42:33a bit like tip-ex.
42:36Well, I think it's beautiful, it's theatrical, it's so very you.
42:41Well done.
42:48More happy faces.
42:49Yeah.
42:50Did you enjoy that?
42:51That was really fun, that one.
42:52Yeah, we enjoyed it.
42:53Yeah, it was good fun.
42:54Go on, Zav, pronounce it for me.
42:56Chateau de Fleur Violette.
42:57You've been practising.
42:59Well done twice.
42:59You've been practising not only your French, but also your skills.
43:03Tell me what you've done.
43:04So we chopped down the original piece of wood that we were given into what we're calling a French style.
43:10And routed the edges to tidy things up a bit.
43:13And then Tasha went crazy with the paint, the engraving tool.
43:17Engraving, painting, and then obviously gilding.
43:21That's become your thing, right?
43:23Yeah, I absolutely love it.
43:25Now, most importantly, can you imagine this on the front of the chateau?
43:30I would absolutely love for this to be on the front of the chateau.
43:33It would mean a lot to us, yeah.
43:36It's vibrant.
43:37It shows off your new skills, Zav.
43:39And most importantly, Tash, it shows off your new love of gilding.
43:43Well done.
43:50I think it's fair to say you've done a fantastic job stamping your personalities into your designs.
43:56They both look great.
43:59Now, leave both your signs exactly where they are, because I'll be holding onto those for a while.
44:04You've both got lots to begin on with, so back to your rooms.
44:08Well done.
44:10That's probably the most efficient we've been at one of these challenges.
44:12We made quick decisions, didn't we?
44:15Yeah.
44:16And I think we executed them well.
44:17Xavier did almost ruin it with a pot of paint.
44:22But luckily, I stepped in just in time.
44:25That was very funny, though.
44:26That was good.
44:27I think the petite challenges have kept us on our toes.
44:30They've made us have to make decisions quickly and figure out new skills and tools and how to use them.
44:37So, yeah, I think we did really well with the time we had.
44:41And we've definitely got more confident with our skills along the way.
44:45How good were both those signs?
44:47That is why they're finalists.
44:49The skills, the ideas, the design, they were just incredible.
44:54Well done.
44:55Well done.
44:56Well done.
45:06Well done.
45:07The boys said I'm going to get on this.
45:08The clock is ticking for our last two pairs.
45:11Look, it's scuffing the bed.
45:12You're going to ruin all my gilding that I've spent ages doing.
45:15To complete their principal bedrooms.
45:17Phew.
45:18In the final renovation challenge.
45:20Mm!
45:21The chateau will soon have new owners.
45:24Tell me where the pictures are going.
45:25Yeah, there, that's fine.
45:26But only one pair can come out on top.
45:28The pressure is on.
45:29Whoa!
45:29So, who will it be curtains for?
45:32Wait there.
45:33And whose dream is about to come true?
46:04And whose dream is about to come true?
