00:01A school security guard has pleaded guilty to 13 counts of sexual offences against his six-year-old daughter.
00:08The 43-year-old man entered his plea at the Sessions Court in Johor Bahru on Monday,
00:15admitting to all 13 charges relating to offences committed between the 22nd of January and the 17th of February at
00:23a squatter home in Kempas.
00:26The charges include rape under Section 376, Subsection 3 of the Penal Code,
00:31which carries a minimum sentence of 8 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison, along with at least
00:3710 strokes of the cane.
00:39The man also admitted to four counts of physical sexual assault, four counts of non-physical sexual assault,
00:46two charges of carnal intercourse against the order of nature, and two counts of recording child sexual abuse materials.
00:53The charges were filed under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and the Penal Code.
01:01Prosecutors told the court that no bail was offered, as all offences are classified as non-bailable.
01:07Judge Mohamed Zamir Suhaimi agreed and set this Wednesday for sentencing.
01:12In a separate but related case heard at a different court,
01:16the security guard's 46-year-old girlfriend, who is believed to be the child's mother,
01:22faces charges of neglect, specifically of exposing the child to physical harm in her role as the girl's guardian.
01:29The charge falls under Section 31, Subsection 1A of the Child Act 2001,
01:35which carries a fine of up to 50,000 ringgit, a jail term of up to 20 years, or both.
01:43The woman, who works as a restaurant helper, pleaded not guilty.
01:47The court granted her bail of 8,000 ringgit with one surety and fixed next mention on the 2nd of
01:54April.
01:55The victim, a 6-year-old girl, is the couple's child born out of wedlock.
