00:48:35eat and we're going to die.

00:48:37So, Jerry, you know me pretty well.

00:48:39You know, I've been saving my money for a long time.

00:48:43And so I had a little talk with my daughter about the effects of compounding interest

00:48:48and that the foliage were probably going to be okay for a little while.

00:48:52But they're very sad.

00:48:53I was my children's hero, their action hero.

00:48:57I hope to continue to be their hero, but as Dad instead of as Mankind.

00:49:02You talked about going out on your own terms.

00:49:05In a perfect world, what would have been that scenario?

00:49:09That would be real simple.

00:49:11It's something I had my eyes on last year as well.

00:49:15I'd like to retire in the main event of WrestleMania.

00:49:20The one goal that's eluded me, my career here in WWF.

00:49:25And I'd like to go out as the WWF champion in a perfect world.

00:49:30After what happened Monday night, do you harbor any bitterness toward The Rock over that pink slip on a pole

00:49:39I'm not bitter in any way about what happened as it stands with Rock.

00:49:45Because the truth is, if I'd won this match, I'd probably be the most hated guy in the WWF right

00:49:50now.

00:49:51I'm pretty realistic about my role in wrestling.

00:49:53I think I'm a very, very valuable part of the WWF.

00:49:57I think I still am.

00:49:59But The Rock right now is the man, and he is the future of the WWF.

00:50:05And if you put he and I side by side, one of us has his best days behind him, and

00:50:11one of us has his best days in front of him.

00:50:14And I think that Rock will continue to electrify audiences for a long time.

00:50:20So I'm not bitter towards him at all.

00:50:23We're both put in a pretty bad position.

00:50:26Of all the great things that you've accomplished in the WWF,

00:50:29what do you consider your finest hour, your proudest moment in this company?

00:50:36You know, I was joking around with one of our production guys as we were setting up the lights here

00:50:42and talking about when I went in on the peep show.

00:50:46I went in looking for one of the other guys and ended up yanking out one of the patrons

00:50:49who had his pants down on his ankles.

00:50:52And I don't think anyone will remember that one specifically as one of my greatest moments.

00:50:56But as a whole, I'd like to think I provided some of the most ridiculous, sophomoric, just funny moments in

00:51:04WWF history.

00:51:05And as an in-ring performer, I'd like to be remembered probably for the return of Cactus Jack at Madison

00:51:14Square Garden a couple of years ago

00:51:16and for winning my WWF championship for the first time in Worcester, Massachusetts almost exactly one year ago.

00:51:25What's really going on inside your head right now?

00:51:30J.R., it's a mixed feeling. On one hand, I'm so happy that I'm going to be home with my

00:51:37kids,

00:51:38that my wife, who's wanted me to stop wrestling for the past year and a half, has gotten her wish.

00:51:45But she knows this isn't the way I wanted to go out.

00:51:48I mean, I had a beautiful image in my head, and what happened to me Monday night was far from

00:51:54beautiful.

00:51:55It was humiliating. It's not the way I wanted to go out.

00:51:59I just think that it's damn pretentious of Triple H and Stephanie to just finish a career

00:52:07because they personally get off on playing with people's lives, playing with their dreams and their emotions,

00:52:13and in this case, with their families.

00:52:15And I think that their ability to write my final chapter is woefully inept.

00:52:25And I think that I'm the person who's going to decide how Mick Foley goes out.

00:52:32And I'll be damned if I'm going to take the sentence they handed down, sitting down.

00:52:37And I'm composing myself out of respect for you and the crew and my family, but I'm not happy about

00:52:46it.

00:52:47And I will do something about it in some way at some time.
