Dark plumes of smoke from burning vehicles marred the picturesque skyline of Mexico’s Puerto Vallarta, a resort city in the state of Jalisco, on Sunday (February 22) after Mexican cartel boss 'El Mencho' was killed in a military raid.

After reports of El Mencho's death, cartel henchmen blockaded highways with burning cars and torched businesses in more than a half a dozen states, paralyzing parts of the country.
