00:00A high fire risk will continue through Wednesday and Thursday of this week for areas near and east of the
00:07southern Rockies into the plains.
00:08We're very concerned about fire danger here.
00:11We have a gusty wind, we have very low humidity, and there has been a lot of dry weather in
00:16this area,
00:17so the tender dry, dormant vegetation is primed for fire.
00:21We're looking at downsloping here, coming off of the front range of the Rockies, down the mountain slope, into the
00:26plains.
00:26This is a process that dries out the low levels of the atmosphere.
00:30We have strong winds, very low humidities, and gusty winds.
00:33And we're going to be dealing with gusts of wind in some spots, 60 to 80 miles per hour in
00:37parts of northeast New Mexico,
00:39western parts of the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle on Wednesday.
00:43And there's also an area from much of Wyoming into the western part of Nebraska.
00:47Very dry, very windy, with gusts of 60-plus miles per hour.
00:51Wednesday, some of the gustiest wind and the lowest humidity will lead to high fire risk from northeastern New Mexico
00:57into the Panhandle region.
00:59Also, some of southern and southeastern Colorado will be in on that.
01:01There are actually two storms that emerge from the Rockies into the plains this week.
01:05Another one rolls into Kansas on Thursday.
01:08And south of that storm track, we have another high risk of fire danger just a little farther south into
01:14eastern New Mexico
01:15and across most of the Texas Panhandle on Thursday, so the fire risk will continue for a few more days.
