00:00We have a parade of storms coming into California late this weekend and in the next week.
00:06Two specific storms that we're tracking for you here.
00:09The first is southwest of the Aleutian Islands.
00:12Notice there's a lot of moisture on the southern side of that storm?
00:16That comes into California Sunday night and into Monday.
00:20I think the rain's going to be heavy with this in southern California.
00:22The second storm is way up in the Bering Sea.
00:26Obviously, that arrives into California as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday.
00:31Now, the combined effect of these storms will produce a soaking rain.
00:35Take a look at the future rainfall.
00:37You don't see a lot of reds.
00:38You see a lot of yellows and some oranges.
00:41That tells me we're looking at a general one to three inches of rain.
00:46Foothills can easily get over a half a foot.
00:49I don't think we're looking at widespread flooding, but there can be urban and localized flooding.
00:55And especially with that second storm Tuesday into Wednesday, there could be showers and even gusty thunderstorms that can produce
01:03gusty winds and some hail.
01:05Now, slower travel will be a problem as well.
01:09I think it's some mountains that get hit the hardest with this in the Sierra and the Siskias where we're
01:14looking at a general four to eight feet of snow.
01:17That's going to cause problems through Donner Summit and even I-5 through Shasta County.
01:23You're going to be impacted by that snow with slowdowns.
01:27Now, the snow is needed.
01:29It's going to cause major travel delays.
01:30But we are running well below historical averages throughout the Sierra.
01:35And remember, that snowfall in the Sierra is critical to fill up the reservoirs in California during the spring and
01:42summer months.
01:43So, we're going to be able to get rid of the snow.
