00:01You ever wonder, if God has a plan, that He's written, and that He already understands the
00:08ending, what's the whole point of me making any decisions? Shouldn't I just go through life and
00:15pray and kind of wait for things to happen? It seems like it should work that way, right? But
00:21sometimes the hardest part of faith isn't believing in God. It's believing we still have a say
00:29in our own lives. You know, people wrestle with questions like, if God has a plan, do my choices
00:38matter? Or, if God is in control, am I really free? And that tension between God's will and our freedom
00:48is something almost everyone feels or questions, but very few people truly understand. And if you
00:58don't understand it, you end up feeling trapped, scared to make decisions, worried about messing up and
01:06unsure whether God is guiding you or silently judging you. But when you finally see how freedom,
01:16self-determination, and God's plan actually work together, everything changes. Faith becomes lighter.
01:25life will become clearer. Life will become clearer. And the future becomes something you can walk toward
01:32instead of something you tiptoe around. Freedom and self-determination, they might sound complicated,
01:41but they're actually part of what makes you human. God didn't create you to stand motionless,
01:49waiting for Him to tell you every step. He didn't breathe life into you just to watch you hesitate at
01:56every
01:56crossroads. He gave you a mind capable of thought, a heart capable of desire, and a will capable of
02:07movement. Now that wasn't an accident, and it was not a loophole either. That was the intention.
02:16God made you in His image, not as a being who must be pushed like a puppet, but as a
02:24person capable of
02:25choosing, growing, learning, and becoming. Now I want you to think about any parent watching a child learn to
02:35walk. They don't yell, step exactly there every time, or you'll ruin everything. They create space.
02:43They encourage movement. They cheer when the child stands, even if the child falls two seconds later.
02:53And God? Well, our God is far more patient with your process than any human. When He gave you freedom,
03:05He wasn't setting a trap. He was giving you room to become everything He saw in you from the beginning.
03:11But so many people imagine God's plan as if it's a single narrow doorway. Miss it once, and the rest
03:21of
03:21your life becomes one long backup plan. No wonder people freeze. No wonder they wait for signs in the
03:30sky. No wonder they second-guess themselves into exhaustion. Here's the truth. God's plan is not a door.
03:41It's a landscape. It's an entire terrain filled with possibilities, relationships, lessons, detours,
03:51and pathways. He designed you to explore. You can walk fast or slow. You can take the long way or
04:01the
04:01direct route. You can wander for a moment and still find yourself surrounded by His grace.
04:08The plan isn't a plan. The plan isn't a pinpoint. It's a place. Your freedom actually works with God's
04:17plan, not against it. When you take steps toward growth, when you break free from an old habit,
04:26when you dare to chase a dream or forgive someone who hurt you, that's not you stepping away from what
04:36God wants. That's you stepping into what He's been whispering to you all along. Your choices, well,
04:44they don't scare God. They don't surprise Him, and they don't throw off His purpose for you.
04:52God's plan is not threatened by your humanity. It's built with your humanity in mind.
05:00You know, people fear choosing wrong. I do. It's okay. You know, many think that one bad decision
05:09destroys the whole future. But if that were true, nobody in Scripture would have made it.
05:17Abraham lied. Peter denied. David failed spectacularly. Jonah ran in the opposite direction of where God told
05:29him to go. And yet, God did not throw out their purpose. He wove their choices, good and bad,
05:39into something meaningful. Not because they were perfect, but because God is. You know, you cannot break
05:49God's plan for your life. You can complicate the journey, but you cannot destroy the destination.
05:57You can delay growth, but you cannot erase what God wrote. He already calculated your detours.
06:06He already accounted for the seasons of doubt. He already saw moments when you'd be paralyzed by fear,
06:14overwhelmed by choices, or stuck in confusion. And even in those moments, His plan is still alive.
06:24His purpose is still in motion. His hand is still guiding you, even when you don't feel it.
06:34You're going to have to admit, that sounds to me like the definition of freedom.
06:40Freedom. Not the kind that says nothing matters, but the kind that says you can move forward knowing
06:47everything can be redeemed. Freedom means you don't need to wait for a perfect sign before you begin.
06:55It means you can make decisions with peace, trusting God to shape the outcome.
07:02It means you can take steps, even when you're unsure, because God meets you in the motion, not the stillness.
07:12He doesn't steer statues. He steers people who move. And maybe that's what your life has been missing.
07:22Not certainty, but movement. Maybe you've been praying for clarity when God's been waiting for courage.
07:31Maybe you've been asking for the entire map, when God only needs you to take the next step.
07:41Maybe you've been afraid of choosing wrong, when God has already prepared a way to make even the wrong turns
07:49work for your growth.
07:51Now, it helps to picture your life like traveling with God in a car.
07:58You're in the driver's seat, and he is in the passenger seat.
08:03Not silent, not absent, but guiding.
08:08If you take a wrong turn, the GPS doesn't yell,
08:12You ruined everything.
08:15It simply recalculates over and over again, right?
08:21And that's how God works.
08:23He recalculates with grace.
08:25He redirects with patience.
08:29He restores with love.
08:31And he journeys with you,
08:34not only when you're confident,
08:37but especially when you're not.
08:40You are not meant to feel imprisoned by God's plan.
08:45You're meant to feel empowered by it.
08:48His plan gives your life direction,
08:51not restriction.
08:53It gives you hope,
08:56not pressure.
08:57And it should give you an identity.
09:01The plan isn't something you can miss by blinking at the wrong time.
09:05The plan is something you grow into through faith,
09:10choices, effort, and trust.
09:13It unfolds as you walk,
09:15and it unfolds differently for everyone.
09:21God's plan for your neighbor
09:23is not the plan he has for you.
09:26You need to be courageous and be an individual
09:29because the gifts God has given you,
09:33well, those are gifts that others may have,
09:37but only you can represent in the way God is asking.
09:41Now, if you're in a season where you feel stuck,
09:44unsure, overwhelmed, or frozen by fear,
09:48I've been in all those seasons.
09:51And I want you to hear this gently,
09:53but clearly.
09:56God trusts you.
09:59He put freedom inside you
10:02because he believes in what you're capable of becoming.
10:06He knows the strength he planted in you.
10:10He knows the gifts that you,
10:13you,
10:14personally carry.
10:16He knows the potential waiting to rise.
10:20And every time you take a step,
10:22no matter how small,
10:24you're discovering another layer of the life
10:28he has prepared.
10:30So, don't shrink back.
10:34Don't wait for perfection.
10:37Don't hold your breath,
10:39hoping for a lightning bolt answer.
10:42Step forward.
10:44Move with faith.
10:46Walk with courage.
10:49God will meet you in the decision,
10:53not just in the uncertainty before it.
10:56He'll guide your steps.
10:57He'll redeem your missteps.
11:00He'll strengthen your heart,
11:02and he will shape your journey
11:05into something far more beautiful
11:07than you could design alone.
11:10Because freedom is not a threat
11:13to God's plan.
11:16Freedom is the doorway into it.
11:19And you honor him most,
11:22not by standing still,
11:24but by walking forward.
11:27One brave,
11:29imperfect,
11:31faith-filled choice
11:33at a time.
11:37My name is Douglas Vandegraaff,
11:39and I believe in Jesus Christ.
