Stefan Molyneux examines how everyday choices in relationships quietly determine personal happiness or its absence. He works through listener questions—routed via AI—to expose the deeper issues of virtue, ethics, and the childhood conditioning that blocks authentic living. At the heart of it lies the familiar struggle between craving social acceptance and insisting on personal truth; he shows how societal demands routinely suppress genuine self-expression in favor of safer conformity. He urges people to look squarely at their own decisions: are they choosing partners, friends, and routines according to real values, or simply following what feels easiest and least threatening? The alternative he presents is not flashy but deliberate—a consistent habit of philosophical self-scrutiny that first brings individual clarity, then stronger relationships, and eventually a society less built on compromise.

00:00All right, this is Stephen Molyneux from FreeDomain,
00:03FreeDomain.com slash donate,
00:06FreeDomain.com slash donate to help out the show.
00:08Really, really would appreciate it.
00:10Thank you, thank you, thank you.
00:12And we are getting AI to, again,
00:16give me the most important questions
00:17that you have as listeners
00:21and do my best to answer those.
00:25And so we've done sort of virtue
00:28and UPB as a whole.
00:30The other one, of course, is
00:32making poor decisions in relationships,
00:35parenting, economics, or society
00:36because they lack a rational moral compass.
00:40AI says,
00:40you tie real lasting happiness,
00:43eudaimonia,
00:44eudaimonia in the Aristotelian sense
00:46you referenced to pursuing virtue,
00:48rational ethics,
00:49truth-seeking responsibility,
00:51and rejecting aggression or hypocrisy.
00:54Answering this question honestly
00:55forces listeners to confront
00:56their childhood programming,
00:57family dynamics,
00:58excuses, and inconsistencies,
01:00leading to separating
01:01from toxic relationships,
01:03embrace abuse from parenting,
01:05rejecting statism,
01:06and building better lives.
01:08So, yeah,
01:09how do you know
01:10what is true or right or good?
01:13Why should anything exist
01:14or is morality objective?
01:15These questions are crucial,
01:17but they serve this primary one.
01:18It cuts through everything,
01:19epistemology, morality,
01:21relationships, politics,
01:22and personal growth.
01:23When listeners answer it
01:24with clarity and courage,
01:25the rest of philosophy
01:26becomes actionable
01:27rather than abstract.
01:29If your show's aim
01:30to wake people up
01:31and help them build
01:32virtuous, rational lives,
01:34this is the question
01:34that unlocks everything else.
01:36For them,
01:37what do you want
01:37and are you willing to live
01:38by the principles
01:39that make it possible?
01:40Right.
01:40So, poor decisions
01:42in relationships
01:43is,
01:45it's kind of like
01:47very complicated
01:48and very simple.
01:49The complicated
01:49is in how it manifests.
01:51The simple is
01:51the principle
01:53that because
01:54we are social animals,
01:56which gives us
01:57access to philosophy,
01:58social animals
01:58develop language
01:59and concepts
02:00and writing and so on.
02:01Because we are social animals,
02:03this gives us
02:04access to philosophy.
02:07However,
02:08as social animals,
02:09we rely upon
02:10the tribe to survive.
02:12And these two tensions
02:13are really at the heart
02:15of why philosophy
02:15and virtue
02:16is so difficult
02:17in the world
02:18as it is.
02:20So,
02:20we want the truth
02:22and we want to survive.
02:24We have access
02:24to philosophy
02:25because we are social animals,
02:26but as social animals,
02:27we need the approval
02:28of the tribe
02:29in order to survive.
02:31That which liberates us
02:32from arbitrary power,
02:34which is philosophy
02:35and virtue,
02:36also
02:37is a product
02:38of language.
02:39Language is a product
02:40of that which
02:41enslaves us
02:42to arbitrary power,
02:43which is our need
02:44for the approval
02:46of the tribe
02:46and the protection
02:47of the tribe
02:47in order to survive.
02:49That which
02:50feeds us
02:51also starves us.
02:53And this is really
02:53at the heart
02:54of why philosophy
02:55is so challenging
02:56as a whole.
02:58We have access
02:59to philosophy
02:59because
03:01we are social animals.
03:03As social animals,
03:03we are subjugated
03:04to the approval
03:05of the tribe.
03:06And it is this tension
03:07between
03:08wanting the truth,
03:11needing the truth,
03:12and
03:13being barred
03:14from the truth
03:15by social approval
03:16that is really
03:18at the heart
03:18of these kinds
03:19of tensions.
03:21Philosophy
03:21is foundationally
03:23individualistic
03:24in that philosophy
03:25accepts
03:26that it is the
03:27it is in the power
03:29of every sovereign mind
03:30to pursue
03:31and determine
03:32the truth.
03:32However,
03:33society
03:34as it has evolved
03:36is tribalistic
03:37and collectivist.
03:38We can see this
03:39sort of happening
03:40in the West
03:40where whites
03:41who tend to be
03:43individualistic
03:44are losing out
03:45in identity politics
03:46or group politics
03:46to those who are
03:48more collectivist.
03:50Now, of course,
03:50whites
03:50abide from self-organizing
03:52through a variety
03:54of legal
03:55and
03:56deplatforming
03:57and socially
03:58punitive measures.
04:00but
04:01if you look at
04:03sort of two tribes
04:04the Hatfields
04:06and the McCoys
04:07if you think
04:07that the Hatfields
04:08are largely
04:08individualistic
04:09and the McCoys
04:10are largely
04:11collectivist
04:12in other words
04:13the individual
04:14is less important
04:15than the success
04:16or survival
04:16of the group
04:17and in particular
04:17its leaders
04:18then
04:19the Hatfields
04:20are going to have
04:21a tough time
04:22organizing
04:22to repel
04:24the
04:24collectivist
04:26and
04:27warrior subjugated
04:28and therefore
04:29focused on
04:29the will of the rulers
04:30attitudes and actions
04:32of
04:33the McCoys
04:34individualistic societies
04:36when there's a government
04:38in particular
04:39and I talk about this
04:40in my novel
04:40The Future
04:41which you should definitely
04:42check out
04:43at freedomain.com
04:44slash books
04:44but individualistic societies
04:47have
04:47a challenge
04:49relative to
04:49collectivist societies
04:50throughout most of our
04:52evolution
04:53if you have
04:55a hundred warriors
04:56who have all
04:57given up
04:59their individuality
05:00for the sake of
05:01being ordered around
05:02by a leader
05:02then those
05:03one hundred warriors
05:04will do a lot of damage
05:06to largely
05:07individualistic
05:08societies
05:09now of course
05:10individualistic societies
05:12also
05:12generally have
05:14creativity
05:15and technological
05:16advancements
05:17and so on
05:18so
05:18it doesn't do
05:20very much good
05:20to
05:22the collectivist society
05:23that may be stuck
05:24in an earlier form
05:25of warfare
05:25let's just take an example
05:27how well
05:28does
05:29knights on horseback
05:31how well do knights on horseback
05:32do against a machine gun
05:33and a machine gun
05:35is generally developed
05:35by more individualistic
05:37and free market
05:38societies
05:39so
05:41there is
05:43a span of danger
05:44though
05:44when individualism
05:45takes root
05:46in a society
05:47then central
05:48cohesiveness
05:49and subjugation
05:49to the will of the leader
05:50is diminished
05:51and of course
05:53it takes a while
05:53to develop
05:54good warfare
05:56technology
05:57and during that
05:58time frame
05:59it is easy
06:00for the individualistic
06:01tribe to be conquered
06:02by the more
06:02collectivist tribe
06:03because
06:04I remember
06:06when I used to play
06:08a game called
06:09Unreal Tournament
06:11there was a sort of
06:12very famous
06:12and great map
06:14called Facing Worlds
06:15which was
06:15two towers
06:16on each end
06:18of a kind of
06:18half bridge
06:19of stone
06:20and it was
06:21the game
06:22was Capture the Flag
06:22and I remember
06:24a friend of mine
06:25that I played with
06:27it's a guy I worked with
06:28he would sort of
06:29make jokes
06:29about how
06:30if
06:31you were playing
06:34against an opposing team
06:35we played
06:35in the same office
06:36we would sometimes
06:37play after work
06:38or if we were in
06:39working on weekends
06:40so
06:40what happened is
06:41we would be playing
06:43and we would be
06:43coordinating
06:44because we'd be
06:45in the same room
06:45there may be
06:46three or four of us
06:47on the team
06:48and we'd all be
06:49calling out
06:49I'm going here
06:50I'm doing this
06:50I'm doing that
06:51and we could
06:53always tell
06:53we played on a
06:55server called
06:55GWARS
06:56G-W-A-R-S
06:57and we could
06:59always tell
06:59when the other
07:00team
07:00was playing
07:02solo
07:02in that they
07:03would all be
07:04doing kind of
07:04random things
07:05they weren't
07:05coordinated
07:06and I remember
07:06a friend of mine
07:07joking and saying
07:08that they're all
07:09acting kind of
07:10randomly in an
07:11uncoordinated fashion
07:12and because we are
07:13talking to each other
07:15and making plans
07:16what they see
07:17is kind of like
07:18this Roman phalanx
07:19coming over the
07:20stone bridge
07:21towards their tower
07:22to get their flag
07:23like everything's
07:23well coordinated
07:24you go up here
07:25I'll do that
07:26we'll go together
07:26that kind of stuff
07:27and if you have
07:30you know
07:31a bunch of tribes
07:32in the same location
07:33one tribe becomes
07:33more individualistic
07:34yeah if they can
07:35survive
07:35then they get
07:36better technology
07:37but there is
07:38a time of danger
07:39when the other
07:41tribe says
07:41oh these guys
07:42don't have
07:43a central ruler
07:43they don't have
07:44a collectivist
07:47society
07:48where you have
07:49you know
07:49fanatical warriors
07:50willing to lay
07:51their life down
07:52for the tribe
07:53of the cause
07:53therefore we can
07:54take them over
07:55and that's a
07:57that's a big
07:58that's a big challenge
07:59it's a big challenge
08:00and of course
08:02it's fine
08:02if you don't have
08:04a state
08:04sort of in the
08:05modern context
08:05but you know
08:06given that
08:07that we do
08:07that is
08:08that is a challenge
08:10and of course
08:11the value
08:13of individualism
08:15which is
08:16thinking for yourself
08:17individualism
08:18allows many
08:19more problems
08:20to be
08:21many more solutions
08:22to be brought
08:23to bear
08:23on a problem
08:24so if you think
08:25of something
08:26like the
08:26Manhattan Project
08:27you have a bunch
08:28of iconoclastic
08:29individualistic
08:30people getting
08:32together to solve
08:32the problem
08:33of splitting
08:34the atom
08:35and creating
08:35an atomic
08:36bomb
08:37then
08:38you are going
08:40to solve
08:40the problem
08:40much more
08:42quickly
08:42and much
08:42more efficiently
08:43if you have
08:43a bunch
08:44of individualists
08:45arguing back
08:45and forth
08:46and pushing
08:47forward their
08:48own ideas
08:48as long as
08:49there's a framework
08:50you know
08:50called science
08:51where there's
08:51sort of an
08:51objective metric
08:52for determining
08:54who's more
08:54or less accurate
08:55in their
08:56formulations
08:56so individualists
08:58advance technology
09:00because the
09:01debate and the
09:01argument assuming
09:02a common framework
09:03like science
09:03or math
09:04or the free market
09:05produces massive
09:07gains
09:07as a whole
09:08massive advancements
09:10if you have
09:11collectivism
09:12where the
09:13leader
09:14you know
09:15really can't
09:15be questioned
09:16and can't
09:16be opposed
09:17and the
09:17you have a bunch
09:18of blank faced
09:19yes sir
09:20soldiers
09:20who would
09:21never imagine
09:22barking disagreement
09:23up the chain
09:24of command
09:24then you have
09:26those kinds
09:26of issues
09:27I mean
09:27one of the
09:28reasons why
09:29I talked
09:29about this
09:29in my
09:30documentary
09:31on Hong Kong
09:32one of the
09:33reasons why
09:34the Chinese
09:36lost against
09:37the Europeans
09:37well first
09:39of all
09:39the Chinese
09:40emperor
09:40didn't like
09:41the boat
09:41idea
09:42didn't like
09:42sort of
09:43big boats
09:44and so
09:44he had all
09:45the big boats
09:46destroyed
09:46and then had
09:47the family
09:48and everyone
09:48who knew
09:49about the big
09:49boats
09:49all killed
09:50and thrown
09:51at the ground
09:51and the earth
09:52assaulted over
09:52their graves
09:53and so on
09:53so nobody
09:53did any
09:54of that
09:55sort of
09:55stuff
09:55and the
09:56other thing
09:56that happened
09:56was when
09:57the British
09:58were making
09:58advancements
09:59up river
10:00everyone was
10:01too terrified
10:02to tell the
10:03emperor
10:03because
10:05he would shoot
10:07the messenger
10:07or get mad
10:08and so
10:08everyone
10:09pretended
10:09things were
10:10going better
10:10and so
10:11in that
10:12case
10:12a more
10:12individualistic
10:13society
10:14where you're
10:14allowed to
10:15disagree
10:15with those
10:16in charge
10:16had advancements
10:18over the
10:18more collectivist
10:19society
10:19so you know
10:21there are
10:22definitely
10:22advantages
10:23both ways
10:24but in the
10:24short term
10:25all technology
10:26being equal
10:26the collectivist
10:27society will
10:28tend to
10:28dominate
10:28the more
10:29individualistic
10:29society
10:30there's
10:30sort of
10:30a passage
10:31of individualism
10:32that you
10:32have to
10:33go through
10:34which is one
10:35of the reasons
10:35why individualism
10:36arose in places
10:37like England
10:37and America
10:38where there
10:39was not
10:39any immediate
10:41invaders
10:42as you had
10:42the channel
10:43and so on
10:43right
10:43I mean I know
10:45that the
10:45Normans invaded
10:47in 1066
10:48one of my
10:49ancestors was
10:49there in fact
10:50but that's
10:52sort of the
10:52tension that we
10:53face
10:53that we want
10:55to get along
10:56with the crowd
10:57we want to get
10:58along with the
10:58group
10:58we don't want
10:59to stick out
10:59and be too
11:00eccentric or too
11:01oppositional or
11:02too weird or
11:03too different
11:04and so on
11:05which is why
11:06the sobriquet
11:07that often
11:07comes from
11:08women
11:08like you
11:08know the
11:09sort of
11:09famous
11:09it gives
11:10me like a
11:10generational
11:11ick
11:11you know
11:12there's
11:12these
11:12sort of
11:13mocking
11:13or somewhat
11:14despairing
11:15somewhat
11:15mocking
11:15memes
11:16where
11:17you know
11:18things that
11:18give women
11:19the ick
11:19you know
11:20there's this
11:20endless list
11:21of hundreds
11:21and hundreds
11:21of items
11:22of things
11:22that give
11:23women
11:23the ick
11:24and this
11:25is why
11:25women tend
11:25to enforce
11:26conformity
11:26among men
11:28and this
11:28is another
11:29reason why
11:29society
11:30doesn't advance
11:31as fast
11:32as it
11:32should
11:32because
11:33men who
11:34are more
11:35iconoclastic
11:35or eccentric
11:36or different
11:37or oppositional
11:38women don't
11:39like them
11:40as much
11:41and so
11:42those genes
11:42tend to die
11:43out and
11:43conformity
11:45tends to be
11:46rewarded by
11:46women as
11:48a whole
11:48which is why
11:49you know
11:49leftist women
11:50won't sleep
11:50with conservative
11:51men and
11:52conservative men
11:52are warning
11:53other men
11:54about leftist
11:55women and
11:55so on
11:55because
11:56in general
11:58women tend
11:59to reward
11:59conformity
12:00and that's
12:01not a
12:01criticism
12:01of women
12:02that's
12:03a natural
12:03fact of the
12:04reality that
12:05it takes us
12:05a quarter
12:06century to
12:06brain mature
12:07and so
12:08you just
12:09you need
12:10the support
12:10of other
12:11women
12:12you know
12:12if you have
12:13you know
12:13five six
12:14seven children
12:15running around
12:16a camp
12:17a dangerous
12:17sort of
12:18campsite
12:18with beasts
12:20and and
12:21dangerous
12:22and cliffs
12:23and like
12:23you need
12:24other women
12:24to watch
12:24your kids
12:25and if
12:25you are
12:25ostracized
12:26you really
12:27can't survive
12:27very well
12:28your genes
12:29have a
12:29they get
12:30really hobbled
12:31when it
12:31comes to
12:32reproduction
12:32so women
12:33do need
12:33the approval
12:34of other
12:34women
12:34which is
12:35why the
12:35mean girls
12:35phenomenon
12:36tends to
12:36be so
12:37powerful
12:38and so
12:40men are
12:41much more
12:42accepting
12:44of disagreements
12:45because men
12:46have a
12:47specific
12:48task
12:48that skill
12:50ensures
12:51or greatly
12:53increases
12:54your chance
12:54of success
12:55so when
12:55men are
12:56out hunting
12:56and there's
12:58an argument
12:58I think
12:59that the
12:59prey went
13:00this way
13:00no I think
13:01the prey
13:01went that
13:01way
13:02then those
13:03disagreements
13:04are essential
13:04because you've
13:05got to figure
13:05out where
13:05the prey
13:06went
13:07or I think
13:09danger is
13:09coming from
13:10over that
13:10hill
13:10I think
13:11danger is
13:11not coming
13:12over that
13:12hill
13:12or it's
13:13coming over
13:13some other
13:13hill
13:13you have
13:14to get
13:14that stuff
13:15right
13:15because you
13:16want to
13:16lie in
13:16wait
13:16and you
13:17want to
13:17ambush
13:17whoever's
13:18coming to
13:18do you
13:18harm
13:18and so
13:19on
13:19so for
13:20men
13:21disagreements
13:22and arguments
13:23is how
13:24their success
13:25is achieved
13:27as a whole
13:28that having
13:29been said
13:30if there are
13:31too many
13:31arguments
13:31then you
13:33can't achieve
13:34anything like
13:34that sort of
13:35famous scene
13:36obviously satirical
13:37in Monty Python's
13:38Life of Brian
13:39when all of the
13:40revolutionary groups
13:41start attacking
13:42each other
13:42for minor
13:43divergences
13:44and the Roman
13:45soldiers just
13:45kind of look
13:46upon them
13:46with exasperation
13:48and bemusement
13:48like
13:49because they're
13:50all attacking
13:50each other
13:50rather than
13:51sort of the
13:52common enemy
13:52the Romans
13:52kind of thing
13:53so
13:54women tend
13:56to reward
13:56conformists
13:57but men
13:58among themselves
13:59have to
14:01allow for
14:02disagreement
14:02because
14:03the
14:05survivability
14:06of women's
14:07offspring
14:07and thus
14:08male offspring
14:08require women's
14:10continual
14:11approval
14:12right
14:12women have
14:13got to agree
14:14to continually
14:15watch
14:15your children
14:16and support
14:17you
14:18and help
14:18you
14:19and nurse
14:19you back
14:20to health
14:20and nurse
14:20your children
14:21and so on
14:22and women
14:24also have
14:25to enforce
14:26infidelity
14:28punishments
14:29right
14:30because
14:31if there are
14:32women who are
14:34stepping out
14:34on their husbands
14:35women need to
14:36punish that
14:36because husbands
14:38who aren't sure
14:38of the paternity
14:39of their children
14:40don't tend to
14:41provide as much
14:43hunting as
14:43effective
14:44a resource
14:45provision
14:46which is why
14:47women enforce
14:48virginity
14:49and monogamy
14:50right
14:50so virginity
14:51and monogamy
14:52is the best
14:53way for men
14:54to work hard
14:55for the tribe
14:56because men
14:57only work hard
14:57for the tribe
14:58when they're
14:58certain of their
14:59offspring
14:59so women
15:00tend to enforce
15:01virginity
15:02and monogamy
15:03and harshly
15:04punish
15:04like the sort
15:05of scarlet
15:05letter thing
15:06right
15:06the women
15:07harshly punish
15:08women who cheat
15:10on their husbands
15:11because that
15:12threatens
15:12the resource
15:13provision
15:14of the men
15:15towards
15:16the tribe
15:17because the
15:17resource
15:18provision
15:18provided by
15:19men
15:20is for the
15:22sake of
15:22paternity
15:23certainty
15:24which is why
15:25when men
15:26had to go
15:26and fight
15:27in the crusades
15:28they locked
15:28up
15:28sometimes
15:29would lock
15:30up
15:30women
15:31with these
15:32contraptions
15:33right
15:34these
15:34chastity belts
15:36where
15:36it was very
15:38hard
15:38or impossible
15:40to have
15:41sex
15:41with
15:41another
15:42man
15:42right
15:42so
15:44we
15:45need the
15:46approval
15:46of the
15:47tribe
15:47particularly
15:47females
15:48and
15:49men
15:50need
15:50women
15:51to
15:52enforce
15:53moral
15:54rules
15:54which is
15:55good
15:56when it
15:57comes to
15:57good moral
15:58rules
15:59it's bad
15:59when it
15:59comes to
16:00the sort
16:00of modern
16:00fairly
16:01hysterical
16:02woke
16:03stuff
16:04but men
16:05need women
16:05to enforce
16:06moral rules
16:06so that
16:07women
16:08will be
16:08sure
16:09to
16:09ostracize
16:10and punish
16:11other women
16:11for
16:13doing things
16:14that are
16:14destructive
16:14to the
16:15tribe
16:15as a whole
16:16and in
16:16particular
16:16anything
16:17that is
16:18destructive
16:18to paternity
16:19certainty
16:19would be
16:20significantly
16:20punished
16:21by women
16:21because if
16:22the men
16:22of the
16:23tribe
16:23start to
16:24doubt
16:24that their
16:25children
16:25are theirs
16:26then the
16:27men of
16:27the tribe
16:28need to
16:29provide
16:30ten times
16:30the calories
16:31to women
16:31and children
16:32than the
16:32men of
16:32the tribe
16:32need
16:33for
16:33themselves
16:34and so
16:35why do
16:36men produce
16:37ten times
16:38the calorie
16:39count to
16:40women and
16:41children
16:41particularly of
16:42course through
16:43hunting and
16:43so on
16:44but also
16:44farming
16:45because they
16:46do that
16:47for paternity
16:48certainty
16:48for the sake
16:49of paternity
16:49certainty
16:49and the
16:50excess
16:50food and
16:52protection
16:52provided by
16:53men
16:53gets weakened
16:54and diminished
16:54if there is
16:56paternity
16:57doubt
16:57or doubt
16:58about
16:58one's offspring
16:59being oneself
17:00which is why
17:01women
17:01significantly
17:02punish
17:03other women
17:04who cheat
17:06or who
17:06are not
17:07virginal
17:07because
17:08one of the
17:10things of course
17:10that happened
17:11throughout history
17:11was if a woman
17:12slept with a man
17:14who didn't marry
17:14her
17:15then
17:16she would
17:17immediately try
17:19to get a man
17:19to marry her
17:20like
17:21if the guy
17:22took off
17:23right
17:23so she has
17:23sex
17:24with a guy
17:25on the
17:25first of
17:26February
17:26then
17:27if the guy
17:28takes off
17:28or is not
17:29suitable
17:29or is
17:30whatever
17:31can't be made
17:32to marry her
17:32then she
17:33immediately has
17:33to within
17:34a week or two
17:35has to get
17:36another guy
17:37to marry her
17:37and of course
17:39if a woman
17:39seems overly
17:40eager to marry
17:41one of the
17:42concerns of course
17:43that men have
17:44is that she's
17:45pregnant with
17:46another man's
17:46child
17:47and she's
17:47going to try
17:47and swamp
17:49that off
17:49on him
17:50right
17:50just sort of
17:51swap it
17:51off on him
17:51and this is
17:52why of course
17:53women
17:54if she
17:55you know
17:55is sort of
17:56a dark
17:56swarthy
17:57man
17:57impregnance
17:57her
17:58she's probably
17:58not going
17:59to go
17:59for some
17:59blonde
17:59blue eyed
18:00guy
18:00she's going
18:00to go
18:01for some
18:02other dark
18:02swarthy
18:02guy
18:03so that she
18:03can pass
18:04off the
18:04child
18:04as his
18:05and
18:06and someone
18:07will even
18:07accept that
18:08trade
18:08say okay
18:08well I'll
18:09I'll have
18:09four or five
18:10kids that
18:11are my
18:11own
18:12and the
18:12price
18:12is that
18:13I raise
18:14one child
18:14who's not
18:14my own
18:15they'll call
18:16them the
18:16black sheep
18:16of the
18:17family
18:17right
18:17the black
18:18sheep
18:18of the
18:18family
18:18is often
18:19the one
18:20who
18:21is the
18:22child
18:22of an
18:22affair
18:23and thus
18:23has less
18:24genetically
18:25in common
18:25with the
18:26siblings
18:26and therefore
18:27is kind
18:27of cast
18:28out
18:28as sort
18:28of an
18:28unconscious
18:29thing
18:29I
18:30myself
18:30probably
18:31never
18:31know
18:32but I
18:32myself
18:33have had
18:33for many
18:34decades
18:34the suspicion
18:35that I
18:37was not
18:37my father's
18:39son
18:40that my
18:40mother might
18:41have had
18:41an affair
18:42and so on
18:43my father
18:44and I
18:44could not
18:44be more
18:45distant
18:45psychologically
18:45and we
18:46look nothing
18:47like each
18:47other
18:47at all
18:48I look
18:48almost
18:49exclusively
18:49like my
18:50mother
18:50and so
18:51yeah
18:52that's a
18:53I'll probably
18:54never know
18:55it doesn't
18:55particularly
18:56matter
18:56but it
18:57would be
18:57interesting
18:57nonetheless
18:58maybe
18:58they'll
18:58do
18:59genetic
18:59testing
18:59long
18:59after
19:00I'm
19:00dead
19:00and
19:00gone
19:00in which
19:01case
19:01people
19:02can
19:02hold
19:02a
19:02seance
19:03and let
19:03me
19:03know
19:03which I
19:04won't
19:04attend
19:05because I'll
19:05be dead
19:05except alive
19:06in these
19:07precious
19:08TCPIP
19:09syllables
19:09so
19:11philosophy
19:11gives us
19:13access to
19:15the truth
19:15philosophy
19:16results from
19:17the social
19:17construct of
19:18language
19:18the social
19:19requirement
19:20of conformity
19:21for survival
19:22means that
19:22the tribe
19:23both
19:24facilitates
19:24and is at
19:25war with
19:25philosophy
19:25and
19:27this is
19:28sort of
19:29the question
19:31of
19:31if a
19:33if you
19:34think that
19:35a child
19:36may not
19:36be
19:37like in
19:38sort of
19:38the past
19:38right
19:39sort of
19:39in a
19:39revolution
19:39if you
19:40think that
19:40a child
19:40might not
19:41be the
19:41father's
19:41child
19:41do you
19:42say
19:42anything
19:42if you
19:43know
19:43that the
19:43mother
19:43had an
19:44affair
19:45do you
19:46do you
19:46say
19:46something
19:47it's a
19:48big
19:48question
19:48right
19:48and morally
19:50of course
19:50you should
19:50say well
19:51the truth
19:51is important
19:52and facts
19:52are real
19:52and so
19:53on
19:53but
19:54let's
19:55say that
19:56there's
19:56five
19:57children
19:57one of
19:58whom
19:58you
19:58have
19:59reason
19:59to
19:59believe
20:00is the
20:00product
20:00of

25:54antisocial
25:55way
25:56because we
25:56all know
25:57that the
25:57children of
25:58single mothers
25:58particularly the
25:59sons turn
26:00out extremely
26:01badly
26:01this is the
26:03Edgar and
26:04Edmund
26:04distinction in
26:05King Lear
26:05by Shakespeare
26:06of course
26:07that Edgar
26:08is the
26:08good guy
26:09and Edmund
26:10is the
26:10bastard
26:11and the
26:11bad guy
26:12that
26:13the king's
26:14counselor has
26:14out of
26:15wedlock
26:15and he
26:16ends up
26:16raging against
26:17the entire
26:17society
26:19so women
26:20have to
26:21cover up
26:22if they can't
26:23prevent
26:23other women's
26:24moral crimes
26:25they have to
26:25cover up
26:26those crimes
26:26to make sure
26:27that those
26:27women get
26:27a provider
26:28even to the
26:29point of
26:30you know
26:30faking and
26:31lying and
26:31defending and
26:32gaslighting
26:33and like
26:33they all have
26:34to get
26:34together and
26:35present a
26:37woman who
26:38is secretly
26:39pregnant as a
26:40virgin or
26:41bride
26:41and
26:42if a
26:44woman even
26:44has sex
26:45outside of
26:46wedlock but
26:47doesn't get
26:47pregnant they
26:47still have to
26:48present her as
26:49virginal so
26:50that a man
26:51will marry
26:52her because
26:53again unmarried
26:54women in a
26:56tribe are a
26:57source of
26:58destabilization
26:59predatory
27:00children and
27:01danger and
27:03they then
27:05require excess
27:06resources from
27:08the men in
27:09general in the
27:10family and the
27:10other thing too
27:11of course is
27:11that if a
27:11woman makes
27:12herself
27:12unmarriable
27:13that's
27:14usually one
27:15man who
27:17is unmarriable
27:19as well
27:20because if a
27:22woman keeps
27:22herself relatively
27:23pure and gets
27:24married to a
27:24man that's
27:25great if she
27:26makes a moral
27:27mistake commits
27:29a moral crime
27:29and then it's
27:30unmarriable
27:31right let's say
27:32there's 20
27:33young men and
27:3420 young women
27:34and one woman
27:36makes herself
27:36unmarriable
27:37well then
27:38that's one
27:40man who
27:40ain't gonna
27:40get married
27:41and what
27:41happens to
27:42a man who
27:43doesn't get
27:44married well
27:44he's a source
27:45of destabilization
27:46he's a source
27:46of resentment
27:47he has nothing
27:48to lose
27:48he's not
27:49wound into
27:49the protection
27:51of the society
27:52and he can
27:53then oppose
27:53the society
27:54more because
27:54he doesn't
27:55need society's
27:55resources to
27:56help raise
27:56his children
27:57which is why
27:58pushing for
27:59childlessness is
27:59one of the
28:00most foundational
28:00destabilization
28:01subversions
28:03that people
28:04opposed to
28:05a society
28:05can do
28:05just push
28:06for childlessness
28:06and you
28:08are good
28:10to go
28:10as far as
28:11destabilizing
28:12society goes
28:12so when it
28:14comes to sort
28:14of making good
28:15or bad decisions
28:15in relationships
28:16it's complicated
28:17because you
28:18want to tell
28:19the truth
28:19you want to
28:20be grounded
28:20in the truth
28:21but too much
28:22truth makes
28:23you unmarriable
28:24as a man
28:24cheating on
28:26the social
28:26order in a
28:26sense makes
28:27you unmarriable
28:28as a man
28:28because women
28:29don't want to
28:30raise children
28:30from a guy
28:32who is
28:33ostracized
28:34from their
28:34society
28:35because then
28:36they and
28:37their children
28:37will also be
28:38ostracized
28:38much less
28:39likely to
28:39unless the
28:40guy is
28:40independently
28:40wealthy
28:41or whatever
28:41right
28:41in which
28:42case
28:42there's
28:42still
28:42difficulties
28:43but not
28:43as many
28:44and this
28:45is one
28:45of the
28:45reasons
28:46why
28:46women
28:46like
28:47wealthy
28:47guys
28:47is
28:47wealthy
28:48guys
28:48give them
28:48the capacity
28:49to be
28:49free
28:49from the
28:50shackles
28:51of social
28:51disapproval
28:52because they
28:53can just
28:53hire people
28:54or have
28:55the kids
28:55have enough
28:55resources
28:56to survive
28:56which is
28:57why a lot
28:58of progress
28:58came from
28:58the aristocracy
28:59a lot
29:00of scientific
29:01progress
29:01and philosophical
29:02progress
29:02came from
29:03the aristocracy
29:03because they
29:04were able
29:05to pay
29:05people
29:06or have
29:06enough
29:07independent
29:07wealth
29:07that they
29:08did not
29:08need the
29:08approval
29:09of society
29:10as a whole
29:10especially
29:11if it was
29:12hereditary
29:12rather than
29:13non-hereditary
29:14titles
29:15this is why
29:16I as an
29:17esquire
29:18as a
29:18former
29:19scion
29:20of the
29:20nobility
29:20I mean
29:21the fact
29:21that my
29:22family
29:24I mean
29:26a pretty
29:26iconoclastic
29:27on the
29:27German side
29:27I think
29:28even more
29:28so
29:29on the
29:30Irish side
29:31and again
29:32this is
29:32assuming my
29:32paternity
29:33which I
29:33don't know
29:34right
29:34I assume
29:34it is
29:35but I
29:35wouldn't be
29:36surprised
29:36if it
29:36wasn't
29:37but
29:38my
29:39family
29:40had
29:40a thousand
29:40years
29:41which is
29:42a lot
29:42right
29:43that's
29:4330 plus
29:44generations
29:45that's enough
29:45to shift
29:45IQ
29:46like 15
29:46points
29:47right
29:47so
29:48my
29:49family
29:49had like
29:5030
29:50generations
29:50of wealth
29:51in Ireland
29:52no I
29:52shouldn't
29:52say
29:52a thousand
29:53years
29:53there
29:5330
29:53generations
29:5430
29:55times
29:5530
29:55years
29:55900
29:56maybe 40
29:56generations
29:57depends on
29:57how young
29:58you marry
29:59but
30:00yeah
30:0130 to 40
30:01generations
30:02of
30:02iconoclasts
30:03right
30:03so
30:03one of the
30:04reasons that
30:05I'm able to
30:05stand with
30:06relative comfort
30:06and ease
30:07against social
30:07disapproval
30:08is
30:09it's kind of
30:10bread in the
30:10bone
30:10right
30:10I mean
30:11the fact that
30:12my
30:12family had
30:13enough
30:13historic lands
30:13and
30:14hereditary
30:15titles
30:15that I
30:15still have
30:16an
30:16esquire
30:16meant that
30:17we could
30:18disagree
30:19with
30:20the majority
30:20of society
30:22and be
30:22fine
30:23right
30:23in fact
30:24we probably
30:25had a lot
30:25more power
30:26over those
30:26we disagreed
30:27with than
30:27anybody had
30:28over those
30:28who disagreed
30:29with us
30:29with the
30:30exception being
30:30my ancestor
30:31William Molyneux
30:32who was
30:33chased around
30:34Ireland by
30:34the king's
30:35men because
30:35he disapproved
30:36of something
30:36the king
30:37was doing
30:37so
30:38it's
30:40it's
30:40complicated
30:40when
30:41you have
30:42a dysfunctional
30:43family
30:43a lot of
30:44that dysfunction
30:45is
30:46rooted in
30:48genetics
30:48it's not
30:48genetic
30:49100%
30:49right
30:49because it's
30:50just a
30:50propensity
30:51right
30:51you can
30:52have a
30:52propensity
30:53towards
30:53alcohol
30:53but
30:54that doesn't
30:55mean you'll
30:55become an
30:55alcoholic
30:56in fact
30:56that might
30:57be a reason
30:57you stay
30:57away from
30:58alcohol
30:58I
30:59have a
31:00propensity
31:01towards
31:01gambling
31:02I like
31:02gambling
31:03a lot
31:03and therefore
31:04I
31:05stay away
31:06from it
31:06because
31:07I know
31:08that it
31:09could
31:09it could
31:11take me
31:11down
31:11this is
31:12sort of
31:13my
31:13pence
31:13rule
31:14I don't
31:14have a
31:15meeting
31:15with a
31:15woman
31:16who's
31:16not
31:16your
31:16wife
31:16alone
31:17and
31:18it's
31:18partly
31:18to avoid
31:19false
31:19accusations
31:20but also
31:21you know
31:21just don't
31:22put yourself
31:23in situations
31:23of temptation
31:24temptation
31:26and these
31:27kind of
31:27moral crimes
31:27are just
31:28a step
31:28by step
31:28process
31:30right
31:30it takes
31:3050 steps
31:31to end up
31:32committing a
31:32moral crime
31:33and if you
31:33just don't
31:33take the
31:34first one
31:34it's pretty
31:35easy
31:35because these
31:36things have
31:37a momentum
31:37all of their
31:38own
31:38right
31:38it's like
31:39if you've
31:41ever
31:41I mean
31:42most of us
31:42as kids
31:43we've had
31:43this situation
31:44where we
31:44are running
31:46downhill
31:46and then we
31:47run too
31:47fast and
31:48we trip
31:49and fall
31:49right
31:50so
31:50the best
31:51way
31:52to not
31:53end up
31:53tripping
31:54and falling
31:54while running
31:55down a hill
31:55too fast
31:56is
31:56a don't
31:57go down
31:57the hill
31:58at all
31:58but b
31:58if you do
31:59have to
31:59go down
31:59go down
32:00slowly
32:00and carefully
32:00and all
32:01of that
32:02sort of
32:02stuff
32:02right
32:02so
32:04this is
32:05another
32:05thing
32:05that
32:06having
32:06some
32:06money
32:07does
32:07is it
32:07buys
32:07you
32:08freedom
32:08from
32:08social
32:09disapproval
32:10which is
32:10why
32:10when they
32:11want
32:11people
32:11to
32:12conform
32:12with
32:13social
32:13hysteria
32:14or
32:15you know
32:16bullshit
32:16rules
32:16they'll
32:17attack the
32:17person's
32:18income
32:18if the
32:19person
32:19survives
32:19the
32:19reputational
32:20attacks
32:20then they
32:21will
32:21attack
32:21the
32:22person's
32:22income
32:22because
32:23if you
32:23need
32:23society
32:24you need
32:25money from
32:25society
32:26to survive
32:27then you
32:28really can't
32:28say that
32:29much against
32:29society
32:30which is
32:30why
32:30again
32:30freedom
32:31remain.com
32:31slash
32:31donate
32:32to help
32:32me
32:33retain
32:34my
32:35independence
32:36of
32:36thought
32:36so
32:38bad
32:38relationships
32:39what
32:39matters
32:40evolutionarily
32:40speaking
32:41is
32:42some
32:43degree
32:43of
32:43social
32:44approval
32:44absent
32:45significant
32:45independent
32:46wealth
32:46or power
32:47this is
32:48why
32:48the
32:50there's
32:51a scene
32:51in
32:52the novel
32:53and a great
32:54movie
32:54room with a
32:54view
32:55by
32:55m
32:55forster
32:55rupert
32:57ever
32:57no
32:57rupert
32:58graves
32:58or something
32:59like that
32:59but
33:00young
33:01freddie
33:02freddie's
33:03interested
33:03in bones
33:04and evolution
33:04now why
33:06is freddie
33:06interested
33:06in bones
33:07and evolution
33:07because he's
33:09independently
33:09wealthy
33:10and he
33:11doesn't need
33:11a job
33:11and if he
33:13was lower
33:14middle class
33:14and needed
33:15a job
33:15he couldn't
33:16be spouting
33:16off about
33:17bones
33:17and evolution
33:18you know
33:19back in
33:19the sort
33:19of 19th
33:20century
33:20when this
33:20stuff was
33:21pretty
33:21I guess
33:21early 20th
33:22century
33:23late 19th
33:23century
33:23I can't
33:24remember
33:24exactly
33:24when it
33:24was said
33:25but
33:25edwardian
33:26I think
33:26post-victorian
33:27edwardian
33:27and
33:29my ancestors
33:31could indulge
33:32in
33:32counter-propaganda
33:34reasoning
33:34because we
33:36had lands
33:36and wealth
33:37and then they
33:38cast me
33:39into the
33:40very poorest
33:40of the
33:41poor
33:41and I
33:42sort of
33:42clawed my
33:42way up
33:43against
33:44massive amounts
33:44of social
33:45disapproval
33:45because the
33:47in a sense
33:48the genetics
33:49were at war
33:50with the
33:50circumstances
33:50I had
33:52the genetics
33:52of independent
33:53wealth
33:54but the
33:54circumstances
33:55of absolute
33:57bottom-tier
33:57grinding
33:58poverty
33:58and
33:59dysfunction
33:59my father
34:01was obsessed
34:01with
34:02highly
34:03invested
34:04in
34:04restoring
34:05the
34:05family's
34:06fortunes
34:07and
34:07reputation
34:07well I'm
34:08not sure
34:08I've done
34:09much with
34:09either
34:09but I
34:11think the
34:11reputation
34:11of the
34:12family
34:12of my
34:13name
34:13is secured
34:13for the
34:14future
34:14but obviously
34:15not much
34:15the present
34:16so bad
34:17relationships
34:18compared to
34:19what
34:19if you
34:20are born
34:20to a
34:21dysfunctional
34:21clan
34:21which has
34:23been
34:23dysfunctional
34:24for quite
34:24some time
34:25then you
34:26can't become
34:26functional
34:26and keep
34:27their resources
34:28keep their
34:28care and
34:29attention
34:30and you
34:31know the
34:31grandparents
34:32aren't going
34:32to want to
34:32take care of
34:33your kids
34:33if you become
34:34a functional
34:34person
34:35because you'll
34:35confront them
34:36and be honest
34:36and then they'll
34:37abandon you
34:37or ostracize
34:38you and
34:39you of course
34:39probably don't
34:40want your
34:41parents if
34:41they're highly
34:42dysfunctional
34:42taking care of
34:43your children
34:43if you're
34:44functional and
34:44healthy because
34:45that dysfunction
34:46is then going
34:47to skip you
34:47and then embed
34:48itself in your
34:48children and
34:49then it'll
34:50all like all
34:51your struggles
34:51will have been
34:52for nothing
34:53right or
34:54worse than
34:55nothing because
34:55now you've
34:56experienced
34:57functionality and
34:57watch your
34:58dysfunctional
34:59parents infect
35:00your children
35:00and fight
35:01that and
35:01this is why
35:02government
35:03schools I'm
35:04always a bit
35:04surprised when
35:05iconoclasts send
35:06their kids to
35:06government schools
35:07like you're just
35:07setting yourself
35:08up for
35:08worse than
35:10failure I don't
35:10know why I have
35:11Andrew Wilson
35:11voice today but
35:12I do
35:13Andrew Wilson
35:14voice it's
35:15bass but
35:16not rich
35:16so if you
35:19want to
35:20move from
35:22dysfunction to
35:24function that
35:25is a very
35:26tricky business
35:27and there's a
35:28desert right so
35:29if you are a
35:30functional and
35:31wealthy then
35:32like the ability
35:34to speak truth is
35:35high status so
35:36if you speak the
35:36truth then you
35:37are taking your
35:39stake in high
35:40status and
35:42women will be
35:42attracted to the
35:43iconoclast and the
35:44truth teller and so
35:45on unless he's
35:46poor in which
35:47case they will
35:47not because being
35:49able to speak the
35:49truth signals high
35:50status that's
35:52probably one of the
35:52reasons I was able
35:53to date a lot when I
35:54was younger is I
35:56mean I was good
35:56looking guy and
35:57also I was speaking
35:58the truth which
35:59signals resolution
36:00courage high status
36:01and if speaking the
36:03truth gets you
36:05resources and
36:06status then it's a
36:07plus women are
36:08willing to give up
36:09approval in return
36:11for status because
36:13approval signals low
36:14status if you have
36:15to have the approval
36:16of those around
36:16you you are low
36:18status right the
36:20private is at the
36:20bottom of the heap
36:21in the army and
36:22that means that he
36:24has to take orders
36:25can never give
36:25orders and we all
36:26start low status as
36:27far as being
36:28children so good
36:29bad relationships it
36:30depends if you
36:32want continuity of
36:33your messed up
36:34family lineage or
36:35mine then we just
36:36hang around the
36:37messed up people and
36:38don't go for the
36:39truth and then we
36:41are more guaranteed
36:43survival because we
36:45will get more
36:45resources if we
36:47decide to strike out
36:47and say well I
36:48don't want the
36:49resources from my
36:50family you know the
36:51old sort of the
36:54prodigal son or the
36:55son who disagrees
36:56with his father his
36:56father banishes him
36:57and he goes out and
36:58does well in the
36:58world that's a big
36:59risk right if you
37:00stick around your
37:01family then you will
37:02get resources for
37:03your children inheritance
37:04and property and time
37:06and attention and care
37:07and approval and all
37:08that kind of good
37:09stuff so you have
37:10resources for your
37:10children if you
37:11simply conform and
37:12comply with your
37:13messed up family if
37:14you decide to strike
37:15out on your own
37:16through philosophy
37:16then you give up
37:18those resources and
37:19it's a big dice
37:20roll and I'm a big
37:22one for roll the
37:23dice like roll the
37:24dice strike out and
37:26try and do your best
37:27and roll the dice
37:27but yeah so it's
37:29it's complex it's
37:30complicated from an
37:31amoral standpoint
37:31right but morality
37:33serves amorality as
37:35much as it serves
37:36virtue and we know
37:37that from propaganda
37:38because propaganda
37:38always says that
37:40enslavement to the
37:40rulers is a virtue
37:41and so it hijacks
37:42people's desire to
37:43be good or desire
37:44to tell themselves
37:44that they're good
37:45in order to serve
37:47the rulers so I
37:48mean virtue serves
37:49vice way more than
37:51it serves virtue as
37:52a whole and so
37:53that's that's the
37:55challenge and that's
37:56the complicated
37:56nature of you know
37:58strike out for the
37:59truth sure but it
38:00means you will be
38:00then attacked rejected
38:01and ostracized by your
38:03messed up family that
38:04came before and
38:05society as a whole
38:05because if you
38:07successfully escape a
38:09dysfunctional family and
38:10do well then that is
38:12inspiring to others
38:13who will want to do
38:14the same which means
38:16it's not just your
38:16messed up family that
38:17will attack you but
38:18everybody's messed up
38:19family that will
38:19attack you because
38:20they're afraid of you
38:21lighting the way for
38:22their kids to end up
38:24getting out and
38:25getting free so I
38:26hope that makes sense
38:27free domain dot com
38:27slash donate thank you
38:29so much for your
38:30continued support as we
38:31enter into our 21st
38:32year of philosophy the
38:35greatest philosophy the
38:36world has ever heard
38:37which is partly me
38:39partly you a lot to
38:41do with the technology
38:42but we'll take pride
38:43nonetheless thanks
38:44everyone bye
38:45you
