00:00The Olympic Games, the Winter Olympics, we should say, taking place in Milano, Cortina.
00:04Enjoying this time, watching it at night, getting the primetime action.
00:08Gold medals, silver medals, and bronze medals handed out on the daily, Joe Raniero.
00:12If we take a look at the medal count through day four, Norway, 12 total medals.
00:17Italy, home course advantage, 11 medals.
00:21Japan, eight, U.S. seven, Germany, and six.
00:24If you want gold medals, you got to go to Norway.
00:26They got a six-pack already in the door.
00:29Yeah, and it's kind of uncharacteristic, right?
00:32We didn't have exactly a great day on the slopes there yesterday, Donnie,
00:37and missed out on a couple of opportunities there for a few more medals,
00:41but still a lot to go here in the Olympics,
00:45and hopefully we start racking up those medals before it's all said and done
00:50because I need over 12 and a half of them, Donnie.
00:52First ever American duo to get a medal, and it was a silver.
00:56There was a chance yesterday for a gold medal in curling, and it was mixed doubles, Joe.
01:03We were the favorites to win that, but Sweden overtakes the U.S., but U.S.,
01:06hey, no shame in your game.
01:08Silver medal, first time ever.
01:09Men and women doing it big over there for U.S.
01:13Huge.
01:14Anytime you can break into a sport like that, Donnie,
01:16something we've never, ever have been competitive in is pretty darn impressive,
01:21and one of my favorite sports in the Winter Olympics there,
01:24and they end up getting the silver, so congrats to them.
01:28Give this man a second chance.
01:31Now, granted, if it happened to you, you probably wouldn't give him a second chance,
01:33but how about this story from an athletic tweet yesterday?
01:38Sterla Holm Ligrad, his Winter Olympics celebration took a shocking turn on Tuesday.
01:43Why is that, you might say?
01:44The Norwegian, fresh off winning a bronze medal in the 20K individual biathlon race,
01:50stunned fans by confessing on live TV he had cheated on his girlfriend.
01:54It's been the worst week of his life.
01:56You gotta start with an analysis of saying,
01:59you know what, I apologize, it was a mistake, Joe, but how about this?
02:03Here's his apology.
02:04Get ready for this one.
03:13They told you, Joe, honesty is the best policy,
03:16but a lot of men live by the code of deny till death at this point.
03:20This man was spilling his guts there, saying,
03:22I just want a bronze medal, biggest day of my life,
03:25but damn it, I miss my woman.
03:28Not his wife, not the mother of his children.
03:31His girlfriend that he cheated on, not this week,
03:35three months ago.
03:36And he somehow thinks that, what, going on the world television,
03:42that somehow, if I admit that I made a mistake,
03:46he is going to regret this when I tell you,
03:50for the rest of his life, he is going to regret having done that.
03:54You're now a meme, dude.
03:55Congratulations.
03:56And oh, by the way, she's already moved on.
03:59Unbelievable.
04:00Has anybody ever used the Sports Grid Network
04:02for an apology on cheating on a spouse or a girlfriend?
04:05Have we ever had that on the network since we've been in that work?
04:08No, no, no.
04:10And I hope that we never do.
04:12Unbelievable.
04:13Yeah, she's already moved on, dude.
04:15She went to the bobsled team.
04:16Move on, dude.
04:17Move on.
04:18How about this, Joe?
04:20Now we have the after the press conference here video.
04:23Let's get after it.
04:24Yeah, I haven't got any reactions from the girl that I mentioned.
04:30And I'm happy because then maybe she hasn't seen it.
04:34Maybe she will see it at the right time.
04:39I hope I don't make anything worse for her.
04:43But maybe it can help.
04:45I don't know.
04:46I hope there is a happy ending in the end.
04:50So we will see what time we'll do.
04:54Brother, I guarantee you she saw that.
04:56You're not just going to get to the Olympics on the world stage
04:58and be a national story here, and the girl has not seen at this point.
05:01You're right, Joe.
05:02She just moved on.
05:03That's all.
05:04Peace.
05:06Dude, it's a story as old as time, Donnie.
05:09Dude, here, do yourself a favor.
05:11Remember, get over to the Olympic Village, and you'll get over it rather quickly.
05:17Yeah, by the way, they hand out not a lot of gold medals.
05:20They hand out a lot of other things in the Olympic Village.
05:22Check on that story.
05:25Hump Day edition of the Early Line.
05:27It's hour number two, and the fun feels like it's just begun here.
05:30Donnie writes along with Joe O'Neill.
05:31Let's welcome in George Kurtz.
05:32A lot of topics to go over.
05:34The Olympics seem like they're taking center stage.
05:36George, how are we feeling?
05:37Pitchers and catchers?
05:38It's a great time.
05:40Yeah, Yankees report today, right?
05:42They're seeing highlights all morning of Aaron Judge and, you know, this and that.
05:46Aaron Boone reporting to camp here.
05:48So, it's a tease.
05:49Oh, it is a tease.
05:50Yeah, it's still, like, brutally cold here.
05:52Joe would know that being from Florida.
05:54It's still kind of cold here, but it's nice to see.
05:57Listen, Yankees' first spring training game a week from Friday.
06:00Unbelievable.
06:02By the way, let me ask you a quick question, Joe.
06:03I'll bring you into this conversation.
06:05Like, you know, at the Jersey Shore, you're called shoobies.
06:08If you just come down for, like, the summer and you're not that, you know, long destination, you know, house
06:13that you have there and that's your main, you know, residence.
06:15What happens in the state of Florida when the winter comes?
06:18Do you guys get angry at the northerners that come down there, Joe?
06:21Like, what happens?
06:23Me?
06:24Oh, no.
06:25Yeah.
06:25No, not at all, Donnie.
06:26No, no, no.
06:27I welcome you guys.
06:29Absolutely.
06:29My favorite time of year here is in the summer, Donnie.
06:32You know why?
06:33Because none of you are here.
06:35That's the best part.
06:36Yes, that's the best part.
06:38You can go back there.
06:39Enjoy your Jersey Shore.
06:41All right, George.
06:42Let's get to the hot topics.
06:43That doesn't include anything in South Beach and being warm at this time since we're freezing cold in the Northeast.
06:47But how about the ice heating up yesterday for Team USA, the women, 5-0 shutout over Canada, Canada's first
06:55shutout in Winter Olympic history here.
06:58Team USA, the women's side, boy, they are gassed up at the start of this Olympics.
07:03Yeah, this is a runaway trade.
07:05All right?
07:05They would be a pretty big upset if Team USA doesn't win enough for the women's gold medal in ice
07:09hockey.
07:09They are the better team, bigger, stronger, faster.
07:12Now, Canada didn't have who may be the best player in women's hockey in Poulin, right?
07:18She's out, although they think she will return maybe in the semifinals, maybe in the finals, whatever it might be.
07:23That will certainly help.
07:24I don't think it's anywhere near enough to stop Team USA right now.
07:28They're just a better team.
07:29Listen, in women's hockey, it really is Team Canada and Team USA.
07:34The other countries are still catching up here.
07:36I think six of the seven last times these top teams have played in a tournament, it's been Team USA
07:41versus Team Canada.
07:41And it's just a sort of foregone conclusion here.
07:44I just think this time Team USA is by far the better team here.
07:49If you're trying to jump in on it now, you're a little too late to the party here.
07:52The only thing you're going to be able to do is do some kind of parlay.
07:54Talking with Kevin Walsh yesterday, he's going with Team USA to win the women's hockey.
07:58Also Team USA to win the WBC as far as a parlay to get that price down to a more
08:04legitimate number.
08:06Let's go, Kurtz.
08:08Are we not ready for the men to dominate here in the Olympics?
08:14Or do you have questions?
08:16Because I asked you, Pete, yesterday from the NHL.com saying, who's the goalie going to be here, Kurtz?
08:23Who would you go with in goal if you were Team USA?
08:28I think you're probably going Hellebuck, which does seem to be the choice here.
08:32I mean, listen, I'm the Cowboy fan, right?
08:35I compare Hellebuck to Dak Prescott.
08:38Great during the regular season.
08:40Has issues when it matters.
08:42All right?
08:43So take that for what it might be.
08:45But this is also how, if Hellebuck is not Hellebuck, Team USA is not going to win.
08:50All right?
08:50Team Canada is better.
08:51The only way Team USA, the only area Team USA is better than Team Canada is goaltending.
08:56And it's a massive advantage.
08:57Because it looks like Team Canada is going to start Jordan Binnington.
08:59And let's face it, Binnington's only getting this nod because he played so well in the Four Nations last year.
09:04Other than that, he's barely ever starting goaltender at St. Louis Blues.
09:07All right?
09:07And he may not even be that.
09:08They really should be going with Logan Thompson or Darcy Kemper.
09:11But they're giving the nod here to Binnington.
09:13Team USA, Garin, the GM there.
09:16Bill Garin, the GM of Team USA.
09:17Also a GM of the Minnesota Wild.
09:19He sort of went out on a limb here.
09:21I mean, he left meat on the bone as far as talent.
09:23There's talent he didn't bring because he wanted to put together.
09:26He wanted penalty killers on the team.
09:27He wanted muckers going to the corner.
09:30I understand that.
09:30But that's dangerous to do here in a tournament that these guys aren't going to play together.
09:34You know, they just got together a week ago.
09:36Now you're hoping they're going to, you know, chemistry-wise, mesh-wise.
09:39Very dangerous here.
09:40Tatter is definitely deeper.
09:41They definitely have more talent, which is always going to be the case anyway.
09:45But goaltending has to be that big advantage for Team USA.
09:48I wouldn't count out Team Sweden either.
09:50They're a very good team.
09:52But injuries may be their undoing here.
09:54No Leo Carlson.
09:55He's out.
09:56Brodine, one of their better defensemen, is out.
09:58And William Neal, there has been like in and out for Toronto Maple Leafs all season.
10:02Right now he's dealing with some kind of injury as well here.
10:04Although he may not play versus, I think they're playing Italy today.
10:07He may have missed the game versus Italy.
10:08No big deal.
10:09Sweden will win that game anyway.
10:10But he should be back later in this tournament.
10:13Take a look at the price points here to win the gold medal.
10:16Canada is slipping a little bit, but still the favorite at a plus 105 team.
10:19They also had a plus 190 price, George.
10:20But tomorrow, we'll see both of these teams in action, not against each other.
10:24Canada's going to take on Chechia as a minus 630 favorite on the money line.
10:28And then Team USA taking on Latvia, minus 2,800 now and rising on a day-to-day basis.
10:34George, betting the Olympics or betting these hockey teams individually per game, is that
10:38something that you like to do?
10:39And also, do you see any advantages for tomorrow?
10:41I'm not going to tell you I love to do it.
10:43We don't know a lot about these teams, right?
10:45But that being said, there's nothing for me for two more weeks, all right?
10:49There's no NHL for two more weeks.
10:51So, yeah, I'll be paying much closer attention to the men's hockey because it's the only
10:55that's going on here.
10:56I like them with their Olympics.
10:57I truly do.
10:57I like the luge.
10:58I like the bobsled, the downhill skiing.
11:00It's all fun.
11:01I don't know anything about it, mind you.
11:02I'm trying to figure out curling.
11:04I was watching curling the other night in the USA.
11:06I think Team Italy here.
11:07I'm trying to – it looks like it's bocce ball, really.
11:10It's what it is.
11:11But I'm trying to figure out how the point systems work and all this.
11:13I'm like, wow, but it's almost mesmerizing how they do that there.
11:17But hockey, I know the game here.
11:19Listen, I expect Team Canada to win.
11:21They are the better overall team, but you're getting no value there, plus 105.
11:24USA would be the next choice.
11:25If you want really value for your money, Finland.
11:28The Czech team's not bad, but I don't think they're going to do it.
11:31But Finland and Sweden are where it's at.
11:33I would love Team Sweden, guys, but love Team Sweden if they didn't have these injuries.
11:37They are a good team.
11:38The only reason Sweden's not really up there with Canada and the USA is because they don't
11:42have the depth.
11:42You know, you look at the four lines for Canada, it's idiotic.
11:45It's Hall of Famers on the fourth line.
11:47Sweden doesn't have that.
11:48All right?
11:48No one's heard of their fourth line.
11:50All right?
11:50They're not NHL players here.
11:51You know, they're in the Swedish Elite League.
11:53Good league, but they're calling it a triple-A baseball there.
11:56So it is what it is.
11:57But Team Sweden and Finland is where the value is.
12:00I just don't think they're going to be able to get it done.
12:02By the way, George, we're going to have a little bit of fun with this.
12:04The Flyers back in the 70s were the Broad Street Bullies, had a great coach in Fred Shiro, great
12:08roster, great goalie, great captain in Bobby Clark.
12:10They used to win championships.
12:12They no longer do this.
12:13So I'm advocating for this.
12:14Can we post this up, this picture right here of a Fred Shiro message, which we'll get to
12:18again a little bit later in the show.
12:19You might not be able to read it, but it basically says, keep your husband happy on my hockey club
12:24here.
12:24And if you do that, we'll win games here, George.
12:27And basically it says, beat to your husband all of these.
12:30A Chinese cook in the kitchen, a Japanese wife in the bath, a French mistress in the
12:34bedroom, and an English hostess in the living room.
12:36That's where the Flyers were winning, George.
12:39Not in 1980.
12:41Not in 1980.
12:43Robbery.
12:44Robbery.
12:44All sides.
12:45Robbery.
12:48Prediction Markets, you love them.
12:49We love them here.
12:50It's what we do each and every day.
12:51We have at least one segment, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
12:54And then we have our PME show that airs this weekend here, and we'll be doing much more
12:59from the Olympics.
13:00Let's focus on the Olympics right now, Joe.
13:03Controversy is what we like to talk about.
13:05And you know what the controversy could be?
13:06Will an athlete be stripped of a medal?
13:09And it's been bouncing back and forth, Joe.
13:11In the last 24 hours, we were as high as 76% for an athlete to be stripped of a
13:18medal.
13:18This morning, we are trading at 51%, Joe.
13:22Bouncing back and forth.
13:23It's now 55%.
13:24Every time I take a look, it's changing hands at this point.
13:27The question is, Joe, will anybody be stripped of a medal?
13:31So this is a basic trade, yes, trade, no situation.
13:35Yes, correct.
13:35Yes, there will be.
13:36Okay.
13:37So yes, there will be.
13:38And the yes price is how much now, Donnie?
13:41Are we talking?
13:42We were as high as 76, Joe, yesterday.
13:45Wow.
13:45Now we're down to 51 live right now.
13:49I would think it's kind of hard not to say yes, Donnie.
13:54Is it not?
13:54I mean, we've seen crazy things.
13:57But they are constantly tested, right?
14:00So the minute anybody wins, I think the first thing they have to do is they go get tested
14:04again.
14:05So I don't know.
14:06Maybe technology and maybe medicine is ahead of the people who test.
14:12I would say no.
14:13Oh, and what are we, about 48, 47% on that now?
14:18And it looks like, Joe, like I'm just reading the rule market here.
14:21It must take place, I believe, before March the 8th of 2026.
14:25So it's not one of those like, hey, they competed and then in August, like, oh, stripped
14:29of his medal at this point.
14:30It's got to be done during the Olympic Games.
14:32That's pretty an interesting thing because it is bouncing back and forth.
14:35It's at high yesterday.
14:36Maybe they thought somebody cheated yesterday and we're going to get caught, but it's back
14:39now into the 50s.
14:40Something to keep an eye on here.
14:43We might need another hour, Joe.
14:44We only have one segment to go.
14:45We got to give out best bets, hit a fan poll, and also get you the updates that you need
14:49since we are a live show.
14:50How about this, Joe?
14:5120 minutes ago, Yahoo Sports put out a tweet.
14:53The ex-girlfriend of Norwegian bi-athlete Sterla Holm-Lagrid has spoken out after Lagrid
14:59confessed to cheating on her and wanting her back in a post-race interview at the Winter
15:03Olympics.
15:03She said via Instagram, Joe, I did not choose to be put in this position and it hurts to have
15:10to be in it.
15:10We have had contact and he is aware of my positions on this.
15:14Joe, what is that position she's talking about?
15:18Yeah.
15:19Don't call me.
15:20Lose my number.
15:21You absolute...
15:23Lose my number.
15:24I can't.
15:25I don't...
15:26Like, dude, you are going to regret this for the rest of your life, man.
15:30And, you know, I don't...
15:32Go to the village, flash your medal there, and, you know, get over it here, my man, because
15:41she certainly has gotten over you.
15:44But by the way, he did say he met the love of his life.
15:47That apparently ain't the love of your life, buddy.
15:49So keep it moving at this point right now.
15:51They're better off separate here.
15:52He won bronze.
15:53Girl, go out yourself and get a gold medal athlete out there and live your life.
15:57Let's get over it.
15:58Let's keep it.
15:59I should say, let's keep it in the Olympics here.
16:00Brady Kachok, Team USA.
16:02What are we talking about?
16:03Let's go.
16:04I mean, this is...
16:05Being able to represent the U.S. at this stage in the Olympics is one of the greatest honors
16:10that I've ever had.
16:11So I'm truly grateful to be here representing the red, white, and blue.
16:15I think it kind of means the world.
16:16It's really like a whirlwind of emotions.
16:20Flying here this morning, hanging out in the village all day, and then, you know, getting
16:23fitted for our clothes, and, you know, just meeting athletes, and then coming here and
16:28practicing, and now it's all like, oh my gosh, like, day one's over.
16:31Like, it's kind of crazy.
16:32So I'm really enjoying the experience so far and having a lot of fun.
16:37Fun at the Olympics.
16:38Come on now.
16:39We got to win that gold, though.
16:40That's the only fun thing about it.
16:43That'll be it.
16:44You want to have more fun?
16:45That's right.
16:46Get it and get past Canada, and we're all good to go.
16:49You'll have...
16:50You want to talk about a parade?
16:51That'll be a parade if we can get Team USA to get one back against Team Canada.
16:58Let's always head over to what we love to do at the end of the show.
17:01Reach out to the public.
17:02Here's our fade to public poll, Joe.
17:10Usually we ask about gold medals.
17:12This one's about the silver medal at Sports Grid today.
17:14Who will win the silver medal in the men's ice hockey at the Winter Olympics here?
17:19The U.S., plus 260, 45% live.
17:22Canada, plus 320, 43% live.
17:25Keeping it close there, Joe.
17:26Gold medal?
17:27Silver medal?
17:28What do you think?
17:29I am thinking maybe Finland takes the silver here.
17:35What do you think?
17:36As Team USA absolutely runs the table.
17:39Oh, we're talking about the men or the women here?
17:41I'm sorry.
