00:00Several athletes have reported their medals breaking within hours of their
00:08podium presentation at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.
00:13The medal is a little bit too heavy for the ribbon I think so it just popped off
00:17and it fell on the ground and it got a couple dents on it and we went back to
00:22the bus stop when I got back and we were looking for the little metal piece that
00:26holds the ribbon to the medal and we were like squatting on the ground with
00:30flashlights looking for it with the security guard and we didn't end up
00:33finding the piece but she did get her medal replaced so all is well and good.
00:37The medals are reportedly breaking off at the ribbon prompting American gold
00:41medallist Breezy Johnson to warn her fellow athletes.
00:44Don't jump in them. I was jumping in excitement and it broke. I'm sure somebody will fix it.
00:50It's not like crazy broken but it's a little broken and there's the ribbon and here's
01:01the little piece that is supposed to go in the ribbon to hold it in the medal and
01:08yeah it came apart. Officials say they are now investigating the problem and are
01:13working towards a solution as they replace all medals that might have broken so far.
01:17We're fully aware of the situation. We're going to look at exactly what the problem is.
