00:01I mean, that's the simple question that I want to come to because I personally was very intrigued by this game just off of the strength of the potential chess match that existed within this.
00:13We talked to a number of people on Radio Row, and damn near everyone to a man or woman came to the table with, yeah, this one is the Seahawks game, and, you know, we can write this off.
00:23My guy Charles McDonald made it seem as if the Patriots made it to the field, they would have done something special, right?
00:28So I had that in the back of the head, but there were still some schematic things that I thought would be interesting.
00:33However, I was at a Super Bowl party where I'm looking around, and there's people who, you know, 6-0, 9-0 are like, yeah, what are we doing here, right?

00:41So was this boring for you?
00:42I'm very intrigued.
00:43Did you enjoy the game, 7-1-3, 5-7-2, 4-6-10?
00:47Personally, I enjoyed the heck out of it, but I will reiterate what I mentioned with the boys on the cross there.
00:52It was sneaky good in every way.
00:57You know, if you're just, like, hop in in the middle of the second quarter, and you see the score, and you see, you know, a lot of punts and stuff, you're like, what's going on?
01:05This is bad.
01:06And I'm not going to lie, I got a bunch, like, at least half a dozen, maybe more texts, like, well, this is bad, or, boy, this is boring.
01:12And I'm like, not really.
01:13You know, not really.
01:14It was a really good game in terms of what you're talking about, you know, watching the dynamic of offense versus defense, you know, the mind game, the strategies and all that.
01:24But even beyond that, it's just great watching a team like Seattle, and the Texans, but they weren't there.
01:30We'll get to that later.
01:31A team like Seattle perform at that level.
01:35You know, like, if this were Jackson Smith and Jigba, you know, catching.

01:49If it was 11 catches, 220 yards, we'd be like, wow.
01:54Well, the Seattle defense was basically 11 catches, 220 yards.
01:58It was just the defense doing it.
01:59You know, the defensive line, how they did it with four guys, some of the plays they made.
02:03They scored a touchdown.
02:05They damn well could have had two.
02:07It was really, to me, it was very, very entertaining.
02:10And on the game itself, by the way, quite the profitable night for your boy.

02:15Congratulations, starting from the opening, we get the national anthem from Charlie Poo.
02:21He tried to add some sauce on it, but he still kept that thing really short.

02:25Yeah, Sean kept saying about, you know, was texting us about the overrun.
02:29I was like, under.
02:29And then he texted again, I said, under.

02:33Yeah, I was wondering if it was the same text just coming through later.

02:38It was kind of an Occam's Razor type game as well.
02:42Sometimes the most obvious answer is the answer.

02:45And that's what the Seattle Seahawks particularly defensively was.
02:49I see a few people loved every minute of it from the 3-4-6, from the 7-1-3.
02:54I loved thinking about Pats fans suffering.
02:56Yeah, I didn't, for some reason, go to that place of just really wanting to see the Pats
03:02lose, even though we talked about it.
03:03Oh, I did.
03:03I was sick of the Pats, but it wasn't like watching this game, for me, was about trying
03:09to find their misery.
03:11I did catch a little bit of that, seeing, you know, Pats fans on social media talk about
03:15how it feels even worse to get that far and then lose, which, salute to you.
03:20Hope you're having a great Monday.
03:21But yes, I guess that was probably a fun part of it, just knowing that not only did their
03:26team struggle, they didn't have no points for a long period of time, they scored a touchdown
03:31that ultimately showed itself to be futile.
03:33I do appreciate that.
03:34For me, it was, especially if you watched this Texans team this year and found a way
03:38to appreciate that, I think you should have been able to look at this Seahawks team and
03:41go, and not even just the Seahawks, the Patriots even, early on in this game and go, oh, this
03:46is really fun here.
03:47These defenses were incredible out the gate.
03:49And it was very evident that the defensive play callers were running this game to start
03:55just very good on stopping the run on both sides, very good on being able to manipulate
04:00things and not allow it.
04:01And I give the Patriots credit as well, because Sam Darnold was not able to get off early
04:05because those wide receivers were like, we are sitting on these breaks.
04:09We are not letting, we're not letting you get anything.
04:12Christian Gonzalez did a fantastic job of that as well.
04:15And you can say the same with the Seahawks who just, they man.
04:19Handle, they did all the things that, you know, schematically you imagine they were
04:23able to get pressure with four.
04:24That is one of the, if you want to sound smart, especially headed into a Superbowl, like,
04:28oh, what's it going to take to win?
04:29If they can get pressure with four, right?
04:31That is, it is technically correct and it makes you sound smart, but they ultimately were
04:35able to do that.
04:36Get pressure with four, you know, bottle things up.
04:38It was one of those really, really good games defensively.
04:41And when you talk about those schematics, I thought that that was really fun, especially
04:45from a lens of a team, you know, in the Texans that you watched do similar things.
04:49Yes.
04:49And that's how we feel about it on one level, but there was also, it was also very entertaining,
04:55somewhat heartwarming because of the storylines too.
04:59You know, the Sam Darnold thing, I don't think we can overstate that.
05:02I mean, five teams, the Jets, his first three years cast aside by after, what was it?
05:0914 wins last year and 13, whatever it was in Minnesota.

05:15Yeah, it was 14 wins in Minnesota.
05:16That's the big one right there for me because it's one thing, like, I'm not going to give
05:21the Jets a hard, a big old hard time for just passing up on them.
05:25I think they got a second round pick out of that trade.

05:29Carolina, they were a mess too, but the big one is Vikings, the Vikings.
05:33They got to feel silly right now.

05:36Letting them walk out the door for J.J.
05:37Do you feel like that was the case in a game in which he went 19-38 for 2-0-2 in one touchdown?

05:44A quarterback rating of 53?

05:47Hey, he helped them get the 14 wins, man.
05:51And this is where we go back from the storylines to the nothing.

06:04No, I think I can convince you because, yes, the numbers were not bad, but this is one of the
06:07games where you don't look at the numbers.
06:08His pocket presence, being able to avoid pressure, step up, step aside, scramble, get some time,
06:14throw the ball away, you know, all those things and more, that was elite.
06:19Now, the numbers, no, not at all.
06:22But you saw what happened to Drake May.
06:24The exact same thing could have happened to Sam Darnold, but his presence, his between-the-ears
06:28acumen, his ability to move the team, to make good decisions.
06:31I mean, I thought that was like, again, everything about this was sneaky good as my theme of
06:37the game.
06:38He was sneaky really good.
06:40Yeah, he really did.
06:41He was good in that regard, for sure.
06:43The management, I don't want to do this.
06:46Please understand I don't want to do this, but I have to say this intellectually for what
06:50we're talking about.
06:51I did have a moment during this game where I was like, damn, that feels like what CJ
06:55Stratus should have looked like.
06:56Oh, 100%.
06:56There was very much moments where you saw him, because his contact balance in the pocket
07:01as well is something that you usually use for a running back, but his ability to stay
07:05upright, to not take some of these sacks and get the ball away at times, that was important
07:10in this game, especially in a game where field possession mattered and keeping yourself ahead
07:17of the sticks, or at least in a place where you were in favorable position, to allow Christian
07:21Walker to then get busy, because, oh boy, did he get busy.
07:24Five yards of carry, 135 yards, ultimately the MVP in this game.
07:29That was the thing that was really fun as well for me, is seeing Kenny Walker, as I like
07:34to call him, Kenneth Walker III, get to a place where it was like, ooh, Zach Kurz is doing
07:40a great job of keeping him bottled, bottled, and all of a sudden, here he is bouncing it
07:45out.
07:45And it really was, it felt like Joe Mixon of last year, where he is, there's nothing
07:49there, there's nothing there, he goes bouncing, there's 10 or 11 yards.
07:52The end where he was just like standing still in the backfield until the hole opened up.
07:57Great, that was the thing.
07:58Dude, he just stood there.
07:59Incredible patience, great, great feat to make sure that, okay, when I do see something,
08:05get to that hole, and then he just ran with power.
08:07Those are the things you want.
08:08I see someone who's up there on the text line saying, I really want Kenneth Walker on
08:12these texts, and I ain't mad at you.
08:13I feel like that price tag going to be big.
08:14The price tag going to be big.
08:18What's funny is it didn't even feel like you got a lot of him in the pass game.
08:22Actually, yeah, he caught two passes.
08:24He got one real big one.
08:24Yeah, one big one for 20 yards.
08:26But that's the type of running back that you really want to see.
08:30Woody Marks gave you a little bit of that.
08:32I wonder how much you get there.
08:33But that's one of those things when you're thinking back to the Texans where I go, yeah,
08:36I would love one of those.
08:37You saw the game plan.
08:38The Texans, I think the platonic ideal of the game plan that the Texans wanted played out
08:42in the Super Bowl.
08:43This game was, and that's why I totally agree with your point on the Texans.
08:48To me, this game was what the Texans see themselves as with the filter.
08:56That's such a great way of saying it.
08:58And what the Texans are without the filter.
09:00Like the Patriots were the Texans without the filter.
09:03You know, it was just like, ooh, you know, good defense, decent enough, but really couldn't
09:08hold up, you know, for four quarters against a quality opponent.
09:10And a quarterback that was just fumbling and bumbling, you know, the game away versus
09:15with the filter on, that defense was just overwhelming.
09:18And the quarterback made every right decision.
09:20Like this was the Texans with a filter versus the Texans without a filter.
09:24Broadcast said he can't catch a block though.

09:27I was about to bring that.

09:31Well, that's the funny thing is I think coming into the season, you probably would have

09:35Chris Collinsworth said that.
09:36Collinsworth, I sometimes wonder how much the meeting coming into it impacts what he's
09:42thinking.
09:43Because one of the things he said, and one of the things that was a big impact for the
09:47Seahawks, I thought that Mike McDonald did a great job of holding some things off.
09:52There was stuff that did not have tape that they would unfurl in this game.
09:56And that chiefly was using Devon Witherspoon as a blitzer, actually blitzing him, coming
10:01through the B gap and stuff like that.
10:03And when he blitzed him, Collinsworth was like, yeah, they like to do that.
10:06And I was like, they actually have not been doing that for a number of weeks.
10:09This is a new development if you've been watching them closely.
10:13But I think that was him sitting down with, I wonder if the coaches told him in the production
10:18meeting, yeah, we expect to be able to bring Devon Witherspoon in this matchup.
10:22But yeah, I wonder how much that was.
10:23And I didn't get enough of that because, again, being a Super Bowl party, I was either close
10:27or far to the TV at various different points, and I didn't get very much of that.
10:31How did you feel about the broadcast?
10:32Little mini confession here, I like Chris Collinsworth.
10:36I do as well, actually.
10:36I really do.
10:38Now, here's a guy.
10:39But he has like a feel for the game.
10:42He does.
10:43Like early, I think it was the second or third possession.
10:46It was that early in the game.
10:48He's sitting there going, this is going to be a defensive game.
10:51And this is after the Seahawks kind of moved the ball down the field.
10:54I want to say the Patriots had a couple of first downs on their drive.
10:57And he's like, no, this is a defensive type of game.
11:00And he just has a feel for what they're doing.
11:03I know every broadcaster has their detractors.
11:07I really think he's really good.
11:09He's not mentioned enough as a top quality analyst.
11:13Yeah, he can be goofy.
11:15He can obviously lean on his favorites.
11:18Shout out to Patrick Mahomes.
11:19But he does, as you mentioned, he has a feel for the game.
11:21I think that he builds moments the right way.
11:24And I don't think he's ever caught in a where he's just wildly out of touch with what's happening in the moment.
11:30So I do give him that credit.
11:32And also, you go the other way.
11:33And you go, hey, Mike Tirico, also very, very good.
11:36Like, he oozes professionalism.
11:39And then on top of that, did you see him on the back end of this?
11:41Because you have this game happening for NBC.
11:44NBC also has the Winter Olympics.
11:46Oh, he's on a plane right now.
11:47In Atlanta, Cortina.
11:48He's on a plane.
11:49After the game, immediately, he takes the field.
11:51And he's hosting their, I forget what the actual broadcast is called.
11:55But their, like, Olympics, you know, round coverage from the field as well.
11:59Like, that was really cool from a sports broadcast perspective.
12:02But, no, this was a very fun game in my perspective.
12:05I could very much get people looking at it and saying that it was kind of boring.
12:08I thought there was really, really good things within it.
12:11And there's a lot more to talk about within it.
12:13But a very, very fun game in which the Seattle Seahawks are your 2025 NFL champions
12:18and the winners of the 2026 or the 60th iteration of the Super Bowl, 29 to 13 over the Patriots.
12:24It felt like, well, we'll talk more about that later.
12:26Because I was going to, I had a take I was going to throw out there.
12:28And I don't know if that's the way that I want to do this.
